13:46 I appreciate that a lot. Mexico is a beautiful country. It's not perfect, but there still good people. I lost my wallet in Merida, Yuc. as I was going to pay a bill. I never expected to get it back as I had over 1000 pesos. You're not going to believe it, but a man and his daughter found it and brought it back to me. I offered him the money in my wallet, he said no. He said my reaction was his reward ( I started crying like a crazy person). Excellent video. I agree with all of your points. I have Rvd as a single older woman in Mexico and felt safe that was my experience. I did just drive from Nogales to San Miguel de Allende to rent a casa for a different experience. It is a beautiful and fascinating country with lovely people.
You nailed it. I live in Huatulco and everything you said is true. I have drove between here and the U.S. without issues, other than topes, lol. I can’t imagine driving a class A down here. I'm sure 30 years from now you will still remember this time. Your videos were very informative and I'm sure made many of us wonder maybe Mexico? I think the best way to do a trip like this is safety in numbers, do it with another couple or couples. I see a future business for you maybe, RV guide service through Mexico, I would sign up for it :). BIG THANKS for an awesome series. Enjoy the road and stay safe
Some notes on this: Pemex is not going to supply that kind of Diesel until 2024. The actual way of asking for it in Mexico is "DUBA" or doo-bah Diesel. Note that regarding your engine, the only difference ULSD and regular disesel is that the first is cleaner with the environment. Your engine would not get any damage for using Pemex Diesel whatsoever. The water that comes from most public sources IS potable, the problem for tourists is that they don't have the proper symbiotic relations with the local bacteria, so they must stick to purified water. The main reason Mexicans don't drink tap water is because it tastes bad due to chlorine and dissolved salts. Regarding not being flashy, it all depends on wich part of the country you are visiting. You can totally leave your RV parked on a random spot and stay away from iot all day on Campeche, but doing it in places like Monterrey or Acapulco is just giving freebies to the local thiefs. Mexico is safe, but some states are clearly marked as no-go zones and people should really be concious about that.
I appreciate your comments about not being judgemental when travelling abroad and take it as an opportunity to learn about a different way of life. But when you criticize the police, or the trash, etc. please realize that these same problems are found in virtually every city in the US.
Thanks Ralph. We shared what we noticed so it doesn't catch others off guard when they visit. And just because it happens in Mexico doesn't mean we don't realize it can't and doesn't happen elsewhere lol. Thank you both for watching!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Thinking of actually retiring to Mexico and you guys have highlighted a lot of things I need to know and research more thank you very much
I forgot to tell you while my mom was there she bought a blanket from.one of the people over there. It’s a nice blanket too! Have a great evening and see you both soon!
I paid off a ticket in Mexico for $30 when I ran a stop sign South of Cancun.. It was interesting.. He had no intention of wanting to write me a ticket lol
You said you weren’t experts; however, you have some awesome Mexico travel experience. So, you are at least “advanced” if not experts. Everyone needs to remember people are people no matter where you are in the world. There is good and bad all over the world. Kind of interested to hear your summer plans.
Thank you so much Dennis and Liz for speaking the truth on your trip to Mexico. My mom went to Tijuana and saw people selling all kinds of stuff. This was over 25 years ago. It might not have changed. Not sure how it is there today. But thank you for saying how it was there for you considering what happened. It’s good to see Dennis feeling better. Glad he is feeling better. Looking forward to watching another video. So see you soon. Take care.
Thanks for being real about Mexico...Street dogs, trash, and people trying to sell me stuff all the time would tear at my heartstrings constantly. I don't think I could enjoy myself because I would be thinking about those issues too much. Even seeing that dog walk up to you on the beach in one video, I thought about how could I possibly walk away from it knowing it has no home? But I'm sure one would have to do that a lot there.
Yes you would. Removing yourself from the situation and realize you alone can't change everything and find ways to accept and improve what you can helps us!
I love the part you said , it’s stress , stress , stress , and then oh yeah this is why I came 😂😂😂, it’s so true , I really liked your video , I’m Mexican and you both described it perfectly
Thanks for the great trip through Mexico. Really enjoyed it. We want to snowbird to Mexico in our motorhome. We have been to Mexico many times by air and have always felt safe. Love the Mexican vibe.
Terrific video! I love that you take ownership of leaving your belongings out at the Cenote. I think some would not have owned that as their mistake 👍🏽 Your videos are very informative, thank you for sharing as I am planning my travels for Nov.
@@EatSeeRV I'm planning on driving my outback to see some Backcountry. I have some trekking gear so hopefully do some hiking of remote mountains. I just started standup paddle boarding so hopefully do some of that and surfing 🌊. I was wondering if the remote areas would be ok to venture off into these areas. Thanks for the information in the video ! Im gonna watch all your videos now love the information
I should point out a few inaccuracies or dated items. We run RV Caravans in Mexico. ULSD diesel is almost universal now. This is quite recent. We have monitored DEF consumption which is a good indicator, and it is normal. Pumps are not usually marked as they say. I have found plenty of parks with 30 Amp, there are only 2 I am aware of with 50 Amp. Electricity is marginal and it is actually too low a voltage that causes the most issues. You can buy a Sola Basic 4000 Voltage Regulator to correct it. (about $250) but you have to wire them up. I do not recommend the Hughes autoformer as it does not correct high voltage. Overall, this is great video. As they say smaller is better. Those with larger rigs may want to use a caravan to learn the ropes and where you can safely travel.
We bought waterproof bags that we could put our credit cards keys and phones so we could take them in the water with us swimming. We use the for kayaking and Paddle boarding as well.
Thanks for this great info. I also want to share one substantial issue: temporary importation of the RV. If you don’t do your homework and bring all of the correct original documents and copies, you could find yourself unable to proceed. There are many sites to get information. Also, know the lay of the land at the point of crossing. Laredo works much differently than Eagle Pass or Nogales, and road conditions can be completely different. We crossed at Eagle Pass, and while easy, the roads were lousy and immigration was 45 minutes into the country; however it’s known as one of the safer crossings in Texas.
I enjoyed your video a lot! I rented a car in Cancun to travel there for 8 days, they ripped me off for the rental in the end. The journey itself was so memorable. Would like to go back again maybe. Will you plan to go there again? or that's enough??? Thanks!!

Thank you so much for all you are sharing. Having traveled a lot in Mexico(not in an RV), you have kept it real and I join in your perspective. I have to admit I will miss you not being down there, as I love it and will be returning for 6 months in November. You’re a great pair and keep these vlogs really interesting...
12:24 Like a lowly sicario from any cartel would care or be concerned about international relations, that's a common misconception foreigners have, if you get in their way or find yourself at the wrong place at the wrong time sicarios are not going to ask for your passport. The simple truth is that Cartels as a whole do not target people whom are not involved in organized crime, so for the most part in Mexico you are safe from Cartel violence because you are not part of it and that applies to everyone. Amazing and very informative video btw.
Thank you, you make a good point. Tourists are caught in misfire for being in the wrong place wrong time. So yes best not to participate in any criminal activity the cartel might have their hand in!
Good tips: don't drive at night.. do get a double fuel filter so that the dust does not clog your carburetor...unscrew your license plate and keep one of them in your front windshield and stash the second one. Police will often unscrew your plates until you "settle up accounts". Also, discretely pass the 20 dollar bribe with a handshake, on the spot. It will cost ten times that if you want to take the problem to the station house, The Big Guy takes a Big Cut, and there will be more hands that will need to be greased, and finally, keep in mind the old expression that "the map is NOT the territory"...it takes all day in order to drive clear across Mexico City...so work around that one. Hope that may help some of you. Mexico and the folks there are friendly, smart, ingenious and industrious. Respect will get you what money may not. I was having lunch in Merida when a young gringo couple came in and ordered the same meal which I had ordered from a bilingual menu. They went "Karen" on a brother as I left my table and slowly approached their table. Their eyeballs were shooting daggers at me. Gringos help out gringos. I mentioned that I heard them order beans and rice for ten bucks. I politely explained to them that I had ordered frjoles and arrow (which is, of course beans rice), but that because they had ordered in English the printed price was twice what I was paying. We had a good laugh about it. Safe Journeys and bring your manners with you..nice people♥️😎
Hey guys, I’m planning a Mexico RV trip this fall. I wanted to ask you if your van was gas or diesel and did you ever consider crossing the borders south into Guatamala? Cheers Jo
Awesome! Enjoy! This was a diesel vehicle, we have also RV'd Mexico in a gas vehicle too. We did not go further and did not want to in our size vehicle. It's 100% possible, but smaller is better in Guatemala
Great video. Been to Mexico just once and look forward again soon. Just curious and maybe there’s no short answer but when people drive to Mexico are you driving with your state side plates and Maybe no more than some kind of permit. ???
Disculpa por los mexicanos me da mucha pena, queremos ser cada día mejor y mostrarle al mundo que estamos orgullosos por nuestra gran civilización. Saludos.
Hi ! I am planning a trip to Mexico and your video gave me exactly the kind of information I needed, so many thanks for that 🌻I am from Europe and my plan is to look for a van once I am in México to travel across the country for about 3 months. Do yo you know if buying or renting a van is easy? Which option would be the best? Thanks a lot !!
so true with the infrastructure on the trash removal on any developing countries. Shame, during my travels in East Asia, this is prevalent on the trash removal, even in the rural areas in China (major cities are excellent and clean). Developed countries in East Asia are South Korean, Japan and Taiwan where I do not see trash.
Great video guys! I do have a question, maybe I missed your video on where you mentioned the Yucatán peninsula as being bothered by vendors more. Where specifically was that? I know Quintana Roo is bad but haven’t experienced it more so in the Yucatán.
It will take a few years to cleanse the country of corruption and improve the entire infrastructure in MEXICO. But we already started and we are not going to stop. I really like your videos, I will continue to subscribe and forward BLESSINGS.
Exactly, we have now an inteligent an honest president, but the economical power are doing the worst things to stop him. The want to continue stealing.
@@ApriliaRacer14 Its not the culture, the corruption is with in the government and the fact USA is a big player in this by being cartels #1 buyer. Between the people of Mexico and cartels there is a understanding of dont mess with us we wont mess with you. Most crime is between cartel vs cartel not so much outside of that. Also Mexico is very very slowly winning this war against drugs may not look like it but they are slowly winning to beat the cartel. Just need USA to stop helping the cartels lol
@@ApriliaRacer14 I born and live in Mexico, and have Mexican friends all over Mexico, and sorry you are wrong, its not the culture. Please don't speak on things you know nothing about.
I reported a few bad cops while in Mexico, and our stay became a living hell soon afterwards. My rv was searched in every other town., even paying them la mordida didn't help at all. When we finally made it out of Mexico, and into the USA we found out someone installed a tracking device. The bad cops/military new where we were at all times. We were like their personal traveling ATM machine.
Is everything cash only, or were you able to navigate some areas more consistently with a credit/debit card. Would love the extra security of using credit
I've seen some of your videos and one HUGE recommendation I have for anyone traveling in mexico in a car or RV is if you can change the Mercedes logo in the RV do it, because for corrupt police the Mercedes logo equals MONEY$$$. Its sad that you had to deal with corrupt police.

I think the best way to do a trip like this is safety in numbers, do it with another couple or couples. I see a future business for you maybe, RV guide service through Mexico, I would sign up for it :). BIG THANKS for an awesome series. Enjoy the road and stay safe
Yes you're right!
Great and honest information! very well organized and edited video.
Thank you!
Planning our first RVing trip to Mexico, love the book with so many practical tips.
Awesome! Yayy so fun 😊
Great video and well explained. Will miss your videos of Mexico. Thank you.
Very good information. I’ve driven from Minnesota to Guadalajara a few times and have felt safe. That being said we did not drive at night.
We live in Minneapolis for 5 months and travel around México for 7 months
Important info here. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Excellent presentation....filled with lots of great information about Mexico. Having been there a number of times very relevant to travelers.
Thanks!
Great tips, insights, and advice. Thank you for sharing for others!
I appreciate your comments about not being judgemental when travelling abroad and take it as an opportunity to learn about a different way of life. But when you criticize the police, or the trash, etc. please realize that these same problems are found in virtually every city in the US.
I didn’t see it as criticism but simply reporting their experience.
Thanks Ralph. We shared what we noticed so it doesn't catch others off guard when they visit. And just because it happens in Mexico doesn't mean we don't realize it can't and doesn't happen elsewhere lol. Thank you both for watching!
@Joe Lopez I hate it here in the states too. Why not respect ones environment in every country? 🌺🌴👍
Thank you so much for your informative video 💝
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching!
Grate job,well said
What an awesome content. Thank you for sharing....
Really good video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Take care.
Thanks! Very helpful!👍
Of course! Safe travels.
Gotta walk the spiritual path with practical feet. Sad to experience rudeness anywhere ... but a visitor needs to be ultra polite. Muchima Gracias
Enjoy you're trip! Are you going by RV, vehicle, or just backpacking with Airbnb or hotels?
Thanks for the updated clarifications! - D
Thanks for sharing your honest experiences while RVing Mexico. Looking forward on your next Journey?
Thanks. Good information and we’ll shared!
We bought waterproof bags that we could put our credit cards keys and phones so we could take them in the water with us swimming. We use the for kayaking and Paddle boarding as well.
Super well worded and informative video!!! Gratitude! What did you do with compost?
We put it in a composting bag and throw it away.
@@EatSeeRV Thank you for letting me know!
Great information thanks!
You can do this 95% by Internet now, a little complicated but try this. Then if you hit a snag, it does not ruin your trip.
awesome valuable information 👍👍 18:00 how did you roll the eyes like that? GREAT
I enjoyed your video a lot! I rented a car in Cancun to travel there for 8 days, they ripped me off for the rental in the end.
The journey itself was so memorable. Would like to go back again maybe. Will you plan to go there again? or that's enough??? Thanks!!
great video very informative
I loved the way that you embrace my culture. My mom is from Matehuala, My father from Oaxaca, I was born and educated in Saltillo and Houston. I worked around 12 of the Mexican States as an Engineer. I live in the States, I go every 3 months on short vacations to Mex.. I drive, so I know a lot of info. If you need anything of information, do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to tell you first hand and personal experience about what I know. If you are ever in my hometown Saltillo, I 'll be happy to show you around the "Little Switzerland" and other things. My house is your house, if I am at that time in Saltillo, you can stay at my home. Look at the video "Saltillo es otra cosa" here in TH-cam. Thanks for the Great videos and info.
Thank you so much for the offer! That is so kind and generous.
@@EatSeeRV Anytime. By the way, In the outskirts of Saltillo, going to Matehuala, you can find "THE LITTLE SWITZERLAND" Bosques de Montereal, Here are the 2 videos .

I driving been every year to Mexico 🇲🇽 in My Rv an old ( 1993 fleetwood class C ) from LA to Huatulco bay Oaxaca and thanks god nothing are happening to me and my wife it’s been very great experience.
Just don’t use secondary roads or used just if it’s necessary avoid driving at night this is very important can dangerous stop to rest just at truck stops there’s are a ton of those along the route my complaint is that tollbooths are expensive but other than this is safe and fun.
I’m traveling next year January 3rd 2025 from Covina to Oaxaca in case someone wants to travel together 👍
Not experts? I’ll listen to what you have to say because I watched you every week and learned lots just doing that. I had always wanted to go to Mexico but I had planned to hit the Baja peninsula but because of you and this trip I will go further. Ok so next week you tell us the next trip??? Please say Alaska, please, please. Hahahahaha ok I’ll watch anything. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
Excellent info-Thank you!
Thanks!
Safe Journeys and bring your manners with you..nice people♥️😎
Good info as usual. We are working on our summer plans as well. Dan - Oklahoma’s Tumbleweeds
Good stuff thank you
Glad you found it helpful
Great video thank you!
If it's just for 3 months I'd imagine renting. But a 3 month trip in such a big country will go by very fast!
I’ve only had wonderful times in Mexico so far ☮️❤️
Can you do a video of your choice for the top sites you enjoyed in Mexico?
so true with the infrastructure on the trash removal on any developing countries. Shame, during my travels in East Asia, this is prevalent on the trash removal, even in the rural areas in China (major cities are excellent and clean). Developed countries in East Asia are South Korean, Japan and Taiwan where I do not see trash.
It is a shame but I get it!
Hey it’s me from the springs when you saw the alligator

Thank you! 🌿🙏🌱🙏🍃🙏
If I get to go to Mexico I’m taking my half-sister! She is so fluent in Spanish, you can’t tell her daddy is a red-headed white boy!
Thanks, for the info. Did u burn any regular or #2 diesel fuel if so how did it do?
Great video guys! I do have a question, maybe I missed your video on where you mentioned the Yucatán peninsula as being bothered by vendors more. Where specifically was that? I know Quintana Roo is bad but haven’t experienced it more so in the Yucatán.
And of course Covid-19 could have contributed to people’s hardships of course..
When we refer to the Yucatan peninsula is the entire peninsula including Quintana Roo not just the state of Yucatan.
Good information. Maybe you can create a list of rv parks or places worth going. Also a list of places to stay away from. Thanks
Thank you
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Loved your inclusivity for non whites traveling. You’re the kind of folks that I’d like to meet. Best…
It will take a few years to cleanse the country of corruption and improve the entire infrastructure in MEXICO. But we already started and we are not going to stop. I really like your videos, I will continue to subscribe and forward BLESSINGS.
Will never happen. It’s too ingrained in the culture. I wish it would happen but won’t….you would need to completely alter the culture.
@@7svn. Do people make up the government? I lived and worked with the Mexican government. It’s the culture.
No way. That insane! How'd you find out about the tracking device?
Alguna vez viajaran por Baja California?
Is everything cash only, or were you able to navigate some areas more consistently with a credit/debit card. Would love the extra security of using credit
Mostly cash. Bigger cities allow you to use credit or debit cards but cash is king.
