Thanks, that brought back memories. I was manager of Mijas GC in 1983/4 when we built Los Olivos with Trent Jones. Mijas has changed quite a lot, new layout, more trees and lakes, more housing and roads, but I recognised some holes and the views. Can't work your swing out, you seem to set up and swing back for straight/draw but look to be hitting straight/fade. IMAO, draw would suit you better. I see far too many pros struggling to play a fade (from my armchair, can't play or teach now), I bet they all played a draw when they were young.
@@joshoddy Just had a look at some of your other videos. If you have always had a fade, that is not natural, draw is natural for you. As you will know, you have a few faults in your swing causing the fade, put them right and you have a draw. If you want, you can then go back to a fade but without the faults. If your coach can't help you, find a new coach.
Draw for distance because it's top spin but a fade is miles better into the greens because it's back spin. If you can turn it on and off would be the best of both worlds. Great round 👍
Yeah that’s the one thing that kills me with Bryan Bros and other vloggers. I don’t need banter and bad jokes between every hole. I end up having to “edit” their videos for them by hammering FFW in between shots.
You have the combo set of the Avoda’s right? How was the transition if you came from ‘standard’ if I may ask? I’m really wondering about them, but the lofts are so different than I’m used to and I can’t seem to test them anywhere..
@@joshoddy It's really amazing I was a +4 at one time that was in 2004-2006. Now after injuries and age I am still a +1. I play with guys that cant break 75 and they are a scratch by the USGA handicap system. The current system has me at a +4. However I am a +1 at best.
One thing I really love about Josh swing is .. his very little core body movement in the backswing … obviously he’s perfect thru impact .. but getting there looks effortless .. hogan 👀.. like
Subscribed , you sure make the game look easy ! Approach, pitching and recoveries especially awesome and impressive ! .. (Not to say you're not awesome off the tee too!) P.s. your irons look cool .. what are they? Guessing blacked out steel shafts?
Josh , Your swing is evolving in the right direction, have you had your first lesson with Liam yet? I can see you are doing some of his drills but I can see more improvement coming when you hook up with him.
Beautiful day! LAB question… did you do a remote or in-person fitting? Or no fitting? Any info you want to share would be great. I know you’ve talked about it a bit here and there but maybe a quick video would be helpful? Keep it up!
The first ever fitting was in person to get the specs correct but also the broomstick I got I did remotely. There online fitting service is by far good enough.
Missed hcp... But well played for all around the greens. With this driver misses you play on the course next to me a 90! It's a long 18 hole course build in the middle of the Forrest. If you miss the fairway, you loose your ball and if nit you have zero chance coming back to the fairway without loosing a shot. In modern times, there is a lot of space for drives.... But I'm sure, you are able to keep a t-shot safe in play. Good luck for you!
+6 basically means you average 3 under, day in and day out. After 48 years of golfing I’ve only shot under par 3 times in my 5 hc life. Amazing consistency (though my drives at 250 find the fairway more often.) And your sand play is excellent, not to mention clutch putt saves. If you’re always finding fairways and greens, golf must get quite boring for you. But your scrambling saves must get your juices flowing. Fairways and Greens! PenguinGolf 12/15/24
Golf is an interesting game! I may have it figured out one day and then the next I don’t even know what I’m doing! But it’s all part of the process and just getting better and better!
Great video. Were you playing that course for the first time? If you were then if you played it again then I think you would shoot a much lower score. Liked the pace of the video - one minute per hole & let your golf shots do the talking. Would like to play that course one day myself now seen it on your channel. Will you be filming more from that area this week? Subscribed.
@@joshoddy I have tested the Tour series STR8 Tech medium. I liked the same size feel in both hands. It made med swing better and less left misses. But the grip weight at 102-105 grams was just to heavy. So will test the Ultralite version.
Solid short game, great putter. But I’ve played a lot of mini tour pros and guys who are +4 to +6 and this ain’t that. A true +6 is gonna shoot in the very low 60s on a wide open 6,600 yard course like this. Maybe this is just an off day ball striking wise and I’m just being a judgmental asshole (not to mention you’re a way better golfer than me) but I’m a little skeptical about your handicap
A +6 will typically have a scoring average of 3 under - and you have to factor slope and rating into that. His differential on that day was -4.2, so this round is likely to be statistically above average.
And he might be someday. Until then, he's grinding to get there, which is what we love about him. Oh, and also, his content is great. Keep it coming, Oddy.
