"In leadership, you can only trust the people who really don't want it." That's some sage advice.

32:00 Brad's wife shows up for 5 seconds, drops the best line in the episode, then leaves.

I miss Brad. I hope he's doing well over at Valve, but I still kinda wish he were back home at DoubleFine.

Didn't know Brad had left, Trenched was my favourite double fine game.

This series is really touching. "Ppl work so hard and I want to see them rewarded financially " been there and felt that.

damn man Ray had some metaverse premonitions

He had a baby with only one head so he obviously wasn't a fit for doublefine anymore.

"I don't want to sound like a gold-digger, but people here work so hard. I would love to see them be financially rewarded."
    You're a good guy Brad. :D

Seeing Brad muir again makes me think back to the era of giant bomb he would make appearances on.

I was waiting for the part where Brad leaves and disappears into the Valve Borg Cube but it came faster than I expected.

12:50 This is why VR will never be fully mainstream I suspect. I’ve always found the idea of VR sort of overwhelming and creepy

IDK why but was super bummed when I heard Brad :D Muir was leaving DF. Is silly, affects me 0% but he just seemed like the perfect guy for the company when he was designing Massive Chalice. But you know, working for this small company called *checks notes* Valve, doesn't seem too bad either. :D

I really enjoyed _The Rhombus of Ruin_ ! The VR features were used in a very Psychonauts way, even though by today's standards, it's a bit simple. Still remember turning around and being jump-scared by Dr. Laboto!

I sometimes wish my autistic son (young adult) could be like a concept artist. He’s so creative with his drawings, ceramics and the stuff he makes in Dreams. I think he would thrive in d, but to get to d, he would have to go through a, b and c, which he can’t.
Sorry for this random rant. A father can dream, right?

Hey I’m a game dev and me and a ton of my colleagues are neurodivergent, it’s totally possible :) personally I really like 3D modeling because it has a process I can go through, but I can also go back between steps if I need to. If you have an iPad, nomad is a cool 3D sculpting software and there are guides online

    • @MrLiljon63
      @MrLiljon63 ปีที่แล้ว +10

He should keep at it with Dreams, I heard it actually being valued as a portfolio. And I'm sure the more your son grows up, the better he'll get at the other things. Good luck to you two

I'm an autistic adult, and I can say with certainty your son can make it, if he starts sharing his art and making a resume he can get a job. I struggle with social cues but jobs legally can't discriminate against you if you are disabled, so he can definitely go into that career if he wishes. I'm getting my degree in counseling and I'm close to achieving my dream of being a therapist, and I'm sure he could do the same with becoming a full-time artist. Us autistics are the most hardworking lol!

I always thought Psychonauts was an Xbox exclusive. I remember hearing a ton about the game and how good it was, but I never saw a copy for PS2 at any stores.
Something similar happened with Bioshock and Assassins Creed. I always think of Bioshock as an Xbox game and Assassins Creed as a Playstation game.

Given Brad's 10 years of dedicated work with the team, why don't they make a cake to celebrate him and express gratitude for his inspiring influence? It appears to be a rather modest gesture considering his significant contributions. Please pardon the bluntness, but it seems as though they may not fully appreciate his valuable contributions.

From the tone of how Tim talked and the way people looked in this episode, it seems at though they really like him that much.

I kinda expected more comradery when the announcement of Brad leaving happened and in that final moment of him talking. Seems like the place just has a lot of friendly people, but those people aren't necessarily friends or even good friends for that matter.

Remember this is just what we see on camera! Lots more personal goodbyes might happen in private. Some jobs that I’ve left, the best goodbyes were when I bumped into them one on one later

Just remember this is an environment that generally attracts a lot of introverted people who maybe aren't comfortable expressing themselves in that way in front of a camera.

He had a very fond departure, plus everyone already knew beforehand. It wasn't new news when we see Tim announce it.
