He's such a wonderful fellow; so talented, yet so humble. Willing to answer every question a fan has for him. I've liked him for his portrayal of women, but now that I've heard him speak, I think I admire him *even* more.
He's right. I have a Magnum 44 that I purchased in 1995/96 that I found in one of my tool boxes recently.. That sucker still works and still has that smell, lol.
But hughes started out doing monthlies. Though his older works weren't nearly as detailed as his current work. I'd say Terry Dodson is basically Adam Hughes who can produce monthly and on time. Love Dodson's work as well as Hughes, but they focus on different things ultimately. Samething applies to Lee and Hughes.
I got a 44 magnum sharpie. I understand why Adam "Art" Hughes said "I was the most stoned out kid of 1974". The marker smells like paint thinner but the industrial type.
fighting with the paper, thats the real truth, thanks adam. I agree with everything he says, the strenght of the drawing can not be transfered if you use a light box, but I use blue pencils because I like how they feel, blame me..:P
they both amaze me how they can do the most dynamic shit on the spot. i would throw james jean into the mix for just super talented without having to try very hard
Adam is doing more realistic type of sets. It's like Alex Ross in a way. I never really liked Jim Lee, and that modern look of the comics, that's more common the these days. It's better this way, vivid and realistic!
man y is it every artist gts compared to jim lee he has a totally different style, plus i think he bettet at drawing girls, aaaaaaaaaaaand jm lee usually just draws the top half of the body at conventions
Yes, Hughes has technical chops. But his is the league of artists than cannot produce on a monthly schedule. Hughes has to make a career out of cheesecake sketches and cover work. Lee's books are in people's hands right now. How many series has Hughes worked on? I can only think of a handful. Hughes is the better "artist", Lee is the better comic book artist.

Man, you´re the greatest...
I all ways say that AH! drawing are like art nouveau, and I love that style
"you get high off those markers..." A.H. is my B.A.M.F of the day hahahaha

I love the Spies like Us reference
adam hughes at a comic con talking about getting high
Those Magnum 44 are indeed strong. The scent lasts for years on paper, lol.

those magnum markers are brutal but they are useful for huge black expanses in a sketch or prelim.

Can you imagine Spiderman stoned? LOL.

He reminds me of mark hamill lol
You can't compare the two. Hughes is more realistic. Not to say he is better just very different.
almost in any style you need to have a very good knowledge of human anatomy so that you can modified it as you wish

Hey I got a Thermo-Nuclear eraser too 8D...
Damn
But Stan Lee barely draws :\ He comes up with the ideas and hire people to draw for him. You're probably referring to John Buscema or Jack Kirby.
I think A2
@mariosawyer: Boooooo! Lol :P
