This was great because I was kicking around the idea of making Beamtown Bullies and this dissuaded me lol.
You can make it WITHOUT the Hellcarver demon. I run a Beamtown Bullies with nothing but one shot budget jank creatures like timbermare or give someone a terrastedon with the agreement that I dont get any elephants. Its a fun deck if you dont build it mean. I had ONE mean card with Rakdos the Defiler, but even that felt bad and I took it out. It can be a lot of fun if you dont poke any bears.

A guy in my playgroup built Beamtown Bullies and wouldn’t stop talking about how fun and janky it is to give someone else a Leveler. No one else was smiling.
As someone who has a Beamtown Bullies deck, it certainly does feel bad to do evil things. But also I’m usually playing with my friends and we all collectively find it hilarious. One of my favs (that’s not mean at all it’s just really stupid) is permeating mass. Such a dumb card but I love it so much

I felt like the Beamtown Bullies kinda acted as a queen maker, since Seb just drew so much hate that Marie could sit back, while you and Max try to get payback.
scrounging bandar was replaced by willy bandar, same for the liquimetal cards
I would recommend swapping out vilis for the new sheoldred or krrik I’ve noticed they’re both a bit more consistent than vilis and much easier to get onto the field. Granted no matter which one you run it will be a target on your back since it’s mono black
Does not help that hand with 5 lands, a counter and a finisher.. probably mulligan
@@felixin02 fair point I’ve run all three as commanders at one point or another and personal opinion vilis just does better in the 99. Krrik is my favorite of the three but they have great synergy together regardless of who’s at the helm. I’ve just always preferred the cost reduction that krrik offers it opens up some faster play and makes it more consistent. To each their own however
@@johnnywhite8877 Krrik definitely puts the biggest target on ur back tho. Easiest to just go oops I win with him. I have a Krrik deck and I’ve learned to only cast him with either protection or when I can get immediate value cuz he almost never survives a turn cycle

Yea I thought it was bogus that max kept targeting Andrew considering that they both had an equal start while seb was ramping like there's no tomorrow.
Beamtown Bullies is a feels bad card because every time I've played against it I prioritize either removing them, exiling their controller's graveyard, or just eliminating their owner from the game.
I normally like to at least let people play the game but BB basically says "Target player loses the game" and you can't afford to let it do its thing even once.
With Crypt Ghast out there you had enough mana for your commander.

Somehow watching a game with Beamtown Bullies is just as awful as playing against Beamtown Bullies. That was severely lame

Actually, they kinda do... TBT are already held back by the fact that they need to set up the graveyard. If they also had to wait a full rotation, they'd be screwed.
@@DarkEinherjar I mean technically sure, but they're in Jund. There's approximately 2000471651943 different ways in Jund to give a creature haste.. so in the grand scope of commander, they really didn't

This was truly a game where the CORRECT PLAYER won. The positive karma they generated for sitting at a table with Villis, Rionya, AND BULLIES bringing a Kibo deck was enough for the universe to give them the win.
Don't discount Kibo's power.
That deck can do a lot very quickly if it's giving out mana regularly, especially with some of the bigger monkeys it's got access to.
Having played against Kibo multiple time, he is a strong monkey! This I don't think was a great showing of that IMHO though, sadly. Not a fan of Beamtown Bullies, never will be. This isn't a diss to Seb or the channel by any means ofc, just never found the card to be fun. A very "Ooops, gotcha, XD" commander that sees play once or twice but then does the same thing a bit too often IMO. Similar to Tergrid. I owned a Tergrid deck once, but took it apart because it did the exact same thing and rather than fun games it created games where the pendulum would swing on way a bit too much at times. In this game, it put Kibo in an immense lead while clearly being targeted itself. Thanks for the pinaccle of great content either way!
They bullied the crap out of you Andrew this game. I know vilis is kinda brutal if he gets left alone. But i think this was kinda unnecessary

Seeing this game, and after having been given an Eater of Days once, I'm seriously considering standing up from the table if I ever see The Beamtown Bullies again across it...
Bullies is on the same tier as Sen Triplets for me. If I see those decks that player will be bullied till they can no longer reasonably cast their commander.
And no one would blame you for it, except maybe the Beantown bullies player but who cares about their input anyway 😆

I think Beamtown Bullies is a cool card and I support people playing what they want to play buuuuuuuut Hellcarver demon seems unfun to me and I personally would not play that card in a Beamtown Bullies deck
thats how the Beamtown Bullies deck go. You give the opponents a "you lose the game" card. No disrespect to the channel of course but goddamn it's not a fun commander to go up against at all and I refuse to ever go up against one again

I love beamtown bullies but seb really had no plays after gifting the hellcarver demon, so it was deserved he got taken out

Yes the creature get exiled
It got destroyed by Decree of Pain.
It does if it's still on the field. In most of these cases the creature was destroyed before that happened.

It does except Andrew blew up the first one with that decree of pain so it went back into the graveyard to hit again. Brutal game
The way BTB is worded makes it so that if the zone changes the exile affect no longer applies. Muddstah doomed someone else to get it lol

If someone played with a deck like Sebs in our pod, he would not have been allowed to do it twice. Land deprivation is a Huge no-no as it removes fun from EDH.

Yeah beamtown sucks. Essentially gave Marie a free win. Also no one thought to blow up the coating. Like cmon bro the deck is literally built around blowing artifacts up.
The spite against Seb gave the win to Marie. They should have recognized Marie was unstoppable and worked together. Instead they helped her eliminate Seb. Spite is not a strategy.
Really don't like this version of Beamtown Bullies where the entire point of the deck is to make everyone miserable and have a bad time.
hitting decree of pain off the hellcarver demon, sending it to GY so it could come back for another go was pretty awful luck
2 questions, why does everyone hate you and why didnt Seb give Marie the hellcarver instead of the ox?
If Seb was smart, he would have done the same Hellcarver trick with Marie.

You really can’t let villis set up.
Being able to play those horrible cards doesn't mean you should. They make games unfun for the rest of the table, or at least for the players that got hosed

I rarely have to deal with the bullies ruining my turns since I make a habit of running enough removal and graveyard hate that I end up shutting them out of the game. I ain't about to deal with that.
It's a shame that Beamtown Bullies FEELS so cool yet in practice really wants to be played lame. Makes me wonder if there's a non-Eater of Days/Leveler suite of creatures to give.
It's an odd commander, to be sure. It begs to built in one very specific way that can often lead to some unfun games.
This game is the exact reason why I dislike Beamtown Bullies. Pick a player or two to effectively lose the game, and then what?
The problem isn't losing, it's that anything other than Leveler, which ends things on the spot, puts the targeted opponent in the MtG limbo, unable to participate in the game.
How did hellcraver demon get used twice? it gets exiled
You definitely couldve cast vilis the turn you played blood celebrant, you had urborg+crypt ghast, two other lands, two rocks, and a medallion

Beamtown Bullies is legit my least favorite commander. It's the same crap everytime someone pulls it out. For some reason, I'm always the Leveler target. I don't know what Wizards was thinking printing the card but I honestly think it was a mistake.
Between Max utilizing his removal on your board instead of having it ready for TBT and Seb's plays in general, this game was just not enjoyable to watch.
It's good to see Kibo take the win, but not enough to want to see those plays again
I don't run Hellcarver Demon in my Bullies deck. Doesn't instantly kill like Leveler, isn't extremely janky like forced dualcaster mage onto Glorious End, just misery.

Making use of Hellcarver Demon that early on was not a great play on Seb's part. Better to save it as a Sword of Damocles, or have it available as a potential, if chaotic, finisher. Or simply not have it in the deck.
Not that it's relevant but shouldn't Green Sun's Zenith get shuffled back from the library after casting it?
I played against a Beamtown Bullies deck once and it was immediately added to the list of "kill on sight" commanders. No thanks, satan!

I don‘t quite get it. How was he able to get Hellcarver Demon out of his graveyard twice with Beamtown Bullies. The effect on BTB says that the creature is exiled at the end step.
I just read in another comment that the Hellcarver was destroyed by Decree of Pain before he could be exiled.
sheesh, Andrew was getting bullied way too hard in this game for no good reason. Villis isn't the "kill the player on sight" commander everyone thinks he is. he's expensive af and there's no guarantee that you're gonna get the ramp you need to cast him. Meanwhile the beamtown bullies player was ramping lands like there's no tomorrow and max thought Andrew was the threat, smh max deserved to get hellcarved demon'd into oblivion.
It tends to happen a lot in his videos. Personally I think a lot of the people he plays against know they are gonna be on TH-cam and so they think taking out the TH-camr would make them look cool for their audience.

Not only would I ban the players who think it's cute to try and do that from playing while I'm filming, but I'd make sure to not put up any vids that those players are featured in.

i love my beamtown deck it's brutal but seb deff flew too close to the sun you have to establish a board state before you start annihilating people's boards otherwise you get teamed up on (rightfully so)
Is Beamtow Bullies the problem? I think it’s Seb’s decision to run Hellcarver Demon. That seems a bit overkill outside high level / cEDH games. Very unfun IMHO.
Yes, it is. TBT players only run those creatures with terrible effects because TBT allows them to easily reanimate them on the opponent's field.
Hellcarver Demon is just one creature. They also run Leveler, Eater of Days, Inverter of Truth... I was given an Eater of Days once, and it wasn't fun.
I play Beamtown Bullies and I really dislike the Hellcarver Deamon... not because is unfair, but because it doesn't get the job done. I think the way to go is have a lot of cards to move around one hit combos and way to assemble them. I run a lot of entomb like effects and destroy target creature to hit my own brought by the bullies.

Technically speaking, players don’t gain priority during the draw step unless something puts a trigger onto the stack. Seb would’ve had to do the ox off agonas either during her upkeep (letting her draw a card afterwards in her draw step) or during her first main phase at the first time he had priority (presumably after she’s taken some sort of game action like casting a spell or activating an ability).
Marie also should’ve gained 5 life for destroying the bullies after playing the fangren marauders because bullies were an artifact at the time of its untimely demise.
Yes, they do. That's exactly why there are very few discard effects that work at instant speed.
The only steps where players don't get priority at all are the untap step and, if no triggers go to the stack there, the cleanup step.
