- Update: JANUARY 2023 Very easy & efficient process, just follow the steps.
CBX from San Diego, (Otay Mesa area, southeast of SD), to the Tijuana International Airport is convenient and flights are cost effective, if traveling to Mexico destinations and vice versa.
Be ready with your required documents, and/or use specific Apps* for airline/CBX for touchless QR Codes. You'll need:
CBX (Cross Border Xpress) Ticket - it can be purchased online, with your airline ticket, and/or at the terminals at CBX.
Obtain the Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM) the Multiple Immigration at the Immigration terminal
Your PASSPORT is necessary - both into & out of Mexico
Airline Boarding Pass
If your stay is longer than 7 days, you're required to pay fees for Payment of Migratory Rights at the terminal prior to the Mexico Immigration at the Agents service desk.
one last thing, Face Masks are now optional.
CBX continues to evolve with new construction and customer service processes.

On a typical basis, I use Apps, except one time my phone had a glitch. I was happy to have had my printed documents for airline/CBX.

Hi Lorraine, Thank you for this very informative video. Could you please tell me how much they charge for parking your car at the cbx parking lot. Thank you…
wow thank you so much for this. bless your heart
Thank you very much.
Hi Lorraine thanks for the informative video is it okay to leave a car down there for 5 days in the cbx parking lot how much will that be if you know and will it be absolutely safe thank you for your response I appreciate it😊
You are very welcome & thank you! As with anything, just take precaution. There are many cars parked in both secured and unsecured areas like on the streets outside of CBX. I've noticed cars that have been there awhile. If I needed to park my car, I'd use the designated and paid parking lots and I think their rates are reasonable. Otherwise, if one can, take alternative transportation there, that's another option. For your info, here's CBX parking link you can check out: www.crossborderxpress.com/en/cbx-parking
Hola Ive never traveled to Mexico via SAN CBX if I show up the night before im just a hair over 7 days stay will they still charge me the tax $38 My Flight leaves at 930 the next morning for Cabo and that's within the 7 day stay and i would like to sit up sleep for a few hours in TIJ to save hotel fee. This video was awesome and informative, now I just need to figure out how to catch the shuttle to TIJ from SAN thank you.
I hope it helped. Transportation options could be Lyft, Uber, etc. on getting to CBX from SAN. As for the fees, I recommend you check out their website at www.crossborderxpress.com
Thanks for the update cuz I'm planning to go next month
Have a great time!
Buenos tardes no estan pidiendo la vacuna 19 cuando regresas. Y la forma fmm son para los ciudadanos ,.o para los de visa.gracias.
The FMM is a tourist permit that enables travelers to visit Mexico. Please check their website for further explanation.
Very informative! 👍
Thank you so very much! 🌸
I appreciate that. Thank you!
To pay the Mexican 7 day fee, is it easy to do at their terminals? Do we have to be pre-registered first?
You pay it at CBX. They're staff are very helpful and are onsite at the terminals and are bi-lingual. Very easy process.
Do you know if the airport has any family bathrooms?
I believe they do.
So you have to pay for a CBX and a plane ticket along with a tourist fee if longer than 7 days?
Yes and when you purchase your airline ticket, most of these airlines will give you the option to purchase your CBX ticket as well from that Airport. Otherwise, CBX machines are available there. I purchase my CBX ticket at the same time as my airline ticket, it's just easier. Also, as in the video, once you get through CBX and long walk, you'll get to ticketing machine to pay the tourist fee and it's not expensive, before presenting at the counter. Everything is very organized and streamlined after all the Airport construction & remodel they went through. Amazing technology.
Does it support Mexicana de Aviacion Flights from Tijuana?
Thank you for your question, however, for the most up-to-date information on the airlines, I'd rather you research the Tijuana International Airport. Wishing you well.
As an injured SDPD Officer I take stolen vehicle reports and approve online report all day. I get more than a handful from down here every single day. DO NOT PARK ON SIDE STREETS. Get dropped off, take an Uber, or pay for the parking lot. I can think of only one coming from inside the parking lot but the streets, especially Brittania along Siempre Viva get hammered. They know most are gone for an extended period of time. It obviously doesn't happen to every car but it is a MASSIVE roll of the dice. Especially for those coming down from up north. You don't want the ease and the savings of using the CBX to mean nothing when you go to get in that car for the drive back to Ontario or wherever and it's missing a window or is gone completely
I appreciate your concern & tips! While there are several hundred cars in the various parking lots & side streets, we've ONLY used Uber & Lyft because it's much easier. Thank you for your law enforcement service too!
Thanks for your comment So if you park in the parking lot would you say your car is absolutely 100% safe
@@jmm1817 can never say 100% anywhere of course but in two years of online reports I can only remember one that was in the parking lot and that was just the reporting party’s statement. Perhaps it wasn’t actually. It was a daily occurrence for cars parked out on the street
@@brianmoore6724 thank you very much for that quick response brother and also thank you for serving our great country
Thank you so much for this tip. Do you know what they charge to park inside the parking lot?
None of these videos day where cbx is is it in san diego airport or san isidro? How much is it?
My information is very thorough. Answer to your question is in the description. CBX is very easy to use too. Happy travels to you!
@@DanceFitnesswithLorraine-tq5gd😂if it was clear I wouldn't of asked where the heck is it ,Google maps says it's on the border so I take it it's not in San Diego airport. Anywho I'll figure it out. Condescending vibes in your comment
@@Honeycomblife For your convenience, here's the info listed in the description. CBX from San Diego, (Otay Mesa area, southeast of SD), CBX Address: 2745 Otay Pacific Drive, San Diego, CA 92154 Website: www.crossborderxpress.com/en/ If you go to Mexico, have a wonderful trip!
If I don’t have a passport can I use my permanent residency card ?
My apologies, but I don't know that detail. I don't recall their website advising such. I'd recommend you contact CBX see the link in description.
We're goin to Cabo and will definitely use CBX and i heard there's a lot of hidden fee .
I hope you have a nice time in Cabo. I'm not aware of hidden fees, as there website seems to be clear. You can check it here and even call if you like www.crossborderxpress.com/en/
bout how long did it take you to cross? Looks quick but not sure if the video was edited. We have a flight at 9:00am
That was a very early morning for us and upon entering CBX, it only took us a total of 50 minutes to get to our Gate; our flight was at 7:00am. I mentioned in the video about timing our walk thru the long corridor, but forgot to, however, it only took about 20 minutes. For anyone, I'd still recommend getting to CBX between 2-3 hours in advance of your flight just to be on the safe side.
@@lorrainescreativespace6174
if only 2 hours it would save me a HUGE amount of time 🙂 Because the flight from LAX is not direct so it's like 7 hours.
But from TIJ, there's a direct 1 hour flight. Still have to fly SJC to SAN, take cab to CBX then use CBX to cross into TIJ airport.
But if the CBX part only takes 2 hours, that would be REALLY good. 🙂
Hi, excuse me, quick question. Do you know if I can use CBX if I'm landing in San Diego and I just want to cross to Tijuana to take a bus to another city but I won't use Tijuana's airport? Or do I need to have a plane ticket for arrival/departure from Tijuana? Thanks!!
My apology, your question is not real clear to me. Check the CBX link in the description please.
You need a plane ticket, because one requirement is to scan your boarding pass at the electric gates
is the tourist fee for all Cities in MEX? my searches online always reference Cancun.
Yes, as far as I know.
@@lorrainescreativespace6174 thank you.
Did you need a passport for this ?
Yes, if coming from the U.S., etc.
Can I use to CBX about to travel with advance parole
If going through CBX to the Tijuana Int'l Airport, it's necessary to have your Airline Boarding Pass, Passport and CBX ticket. That's my understanding.
What is the best way to travel from San Diego to CBX?
I'd suggest alternative transportation such as Lyft or Uber. In case you're coming from the San Diego airport, it's about 23 miles away.
SAN airport does have a shuttle to CBX.
