      Me as an Asian kid, attending primary school in the UK, when I was eating fried noodles during lunch time, White kids were shouting that I'm "eating worms" and pointing at me screaming "Ewwwwww! Gross". I was so embarassed that my Mom stop making fried noodles for my school lunch and changed it to regular sandwiches... It was the early 90s. Back then, it was okay for White kids to be racist towards Asians, because we are 3rd world to them...😑

    I remember Eric Stuart mentioned in a separate interview regarding Yu-Gi-Oh that the reason why the cards were altered due to FCC laws that had to be followed by 4Kids when televising on network TV. It’s interesting to hear his thoughts on it since he was the ADR for both Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh

      We have video of Eric Stuart explaining why they had censor things was due to the BS&P (Broadcast Standards and Practices) dictated by the networks cause you "cannot show [certain items] being pointed at someone's head at 6AM on Saturday mornings" but they found a little trick by submitting three possible lines; one that would never get approved, one that was not funny, and one they wanted. th-cam.com/video/kIAFpYOpgro/w-d-xo.html

    It's strange how during the late 80's and 90's the West had this weird relationship with Japanese media. They wanted to bring shows, movies and video games over because they thought westerners would enjoy it, but also felt the need to change everything in the localization to basically remove all traces of Japanese culture. The thought process was basically thinking if people perceived it as too foreign they couldn't relate to it.

    • @eastzilla4282
      @eastzilla4282 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Sushi has sushi rice. Onigiri is has regular white rice. Sushi has raw sashimi on top of sushi rice. Sushi rice tastes very different because of the sushi vinegar that’s in the sushi rice. Therefore, onigiri and sushi are not “kinda” similar.

    • @turkeysgotmorecloutthanyou
      @turkeysgotmorecloutthanyou ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@eastzilla4282 the idea is relatively the same and the same base ingredients are still there, only real difference between sushi rice and regular rice is that sushi rice has more surface area and thus more starch.
      One is made to be presentable while the other is made to be a quick snack
      Otherwise the ingredients are interchangeable and you’d easily mistake one for the other despite using different ingredients at a first glance

    As a kid I knew the show came from Japan, so I figured the onigiri was some kind of Japanese food.
