we see time and time again that forested regions have higher rainfall. The usual explanation is that transpiration produces the moisture needed for rain, but this seems unsatisfactory to me, when you see such a localized increase in rainfall, over a relatively small area. I wonder if instead barren land increases the barometric pressure, pushing clouds away, while forestation decreases barometric pressure, drawing clouds in. Has anyone measured barometric pressure above forested vs barren land?
