Surely one of our most outstanding all round performers of all time. Gave his all for the entertainment of others but without ever giving offence, so sad he's gone but heaven must be the brighter for his entertaining them.
I was eleven years old when I saw that on television. It has taken me until now to find it again. I absolutely love Bernard Cribbins. He's just the most talented, lovely, likeable bloke.
@@eliotreader8220 Thank you very much Elliot for your view and comment, yes indeed we need to be uplifted in these dark days post covid. Have a wonderful Monday.😀👍🇬🇧
Mr Cribbins; performance is Brilliant.. This song was first introduced to me decades ago at Dickens Fair, San Francisco. Heard it once and the chorus has stuck with me since.
First heard the Coffee Pot Song in the early 1970s (in New Zealand), with the Dick Turpin verse first (this is the first time I've heard it done last). I've only heard the Bonaparte (rhymes with cart) verse in the last 20 years or so. Ditto the Pewter Porter Pot parody - interesting to find it's this old.
Thanks, Dennis Jennings. Our U3A singing group, facebook.com/sinjingforfun/ we sing just the one verse, at our meetings, from Chas & Daves record, so I looked everywhere for this clip, yesterday, & ended up using the BBC 4 URL from IPlayer!

What a brilliant Fagin Bernard Cribbins would be! Marvelous this, thank you so much for posting.
Polly Motley Thank you Polly for your comment,I do wonder if Bernard Cribbins has done Fagin at some point in his time.
Polly Motley Do you mean Fagin in the musical or Fagin as a proper actor...?😊

Thank you Neil very much for your view and comment. This programme was recorded in 1978.
Cosmotheka did the best version of this i have ever heard at super fast speed. Though great to see Mr Cribbins too.
Agreed!
Cosmotheka! Now there's a name I haven't heard in years! They were marvellous.
I remember Bernard Cribbins in the Fawlty Towers "Hotel Inspectors" episode.
Buster Wow...he was famous for about 40 years before that...😁
Buster He was way before John Cleese...😊😊
Andrew .. I didn’t say Fawlty Towers made him famous
Will Fred not bring Wilfred Mott (who is dressed like Oswald Cobblepot) a proper cuppa coffee from a proper copper pot?
Thank you Ian, not sure what you mean, but Bernard Cribbins was just Brilliant.
