I remember when one of our neighbors in the street had it when it was new. When it drove into the street we kids have been blown away. At that time it looked like an "UFO" on the the streets. Always happy about a review like that, which brings be good memories and vibes.
Most BMW fanboys (at least those that don’t know their history) think that Mercedes built this car as a response to the E30 M3 b/c they were getting their ass kicked…not quite. They’re 180º off-course.
@@samsonian yup but whole history for evo is bigger story, but only small group know about it. There was a big plans on this project and Mercedes back to moto sport
BMW E30 M3 wins always the DTM Championship. 1992 it will be changed by the evo2. He win Almost every race. This is why the evo2 is a legend.

this was my dream car. i drove one back to back with the last BMW M3 EVO, both on road and track. the BMW could do things the EVO couldnt, and so did the EVO, that the M3 couldnt do. i was truly lucky that day, back in the mid to late 90's. if money were no object, i'd see if i could get an EVO, to be precise, EVO 2. the look alone was killer. just looked so much different to anything else on the road at the time. a unique, in a great way, and special car,. and even today, it still does some great number for the 90's. as does the M3's. if money were no object, i suppose id have both in my garage....then lets talk M5 and 500E, then ........

Back in 1990, visiting friends in Stuttgart I was introduced to a guy who was a Mercedes authorized restorer and who owned one of those. ( the REAL deal) . He took me for a ride and that was an awesome experience for young me. After a while, I asked him if I could drive ......."you can ask for my wife, but not my car" he replied. LOL ;) True story, Greetings from Canada!

Umm. A euro spec 84 320i 2 liter tuned with the big airbox from factory. That 2 liter inline 6 is a rever.
One of my old acquaintances, had a 190e 2.2 stock, a 512 bb and a 246 gt .. old cars have to be respected.

First things first, Misha, your question @10:48 is Triumph TR6 that was part of the British Leyland company here in the UK. It was during the 1960's-1970's in the West Midlands where Jaguar Land Rover, the defunct Rover brand are manufactured. They were used on track and also early rally cars.

I will always like the 190E it's such a special car, I owned a 190E 2.6L (164hp) my ex-boss owned a 190E 3.2 AMG and 2.5L 16v along with various other Mercedes from this era, I don't really care for the other cars they made from this era they're absolutely awful to drive but the 190E is such a sweet little chassis and great on track (even the slower models with just a set of coil overs).
I've had the opportunity to sit in an original 190E Evo 2 and it was just amazing.

Please note, Cosworth had no involvement with the 190e 2.5L 16v engine as this was entirely developed in house by Mercedes. It was only with the 2.3L 16v engine that Mercedes commissioned Cosworth for development work on the heads, as part of their rally car project, which Audi put a quick end to & Mercedes then decided to move into road racing instead.
Love that car. It changed the world, made BMW join the races.

Never clicked on a video so fast! W201s are gorgeous, even the plainest 1.8 litre ones. I really wanted one as a daily but they're getting a bit difficult for parts, so I settled on a 202, which I hope is a reasonable compromise... basically a modern car but still with a bit of the style of the 201.
Remember seeing a real one in a dealership back when they were new in pre delivery and as a kid was blown away by that spoiler on the back...wanted one ever since total dream car

I remember the Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5 Evolution Two with a Cosworth engine. It was also known as the Batmobile and if I can remember, it was selling for £50K part leather, part fabric interior.
One more thing, it would of been nice to see you have a ride/drive the Evolution 1.

Misha there's a brazilian dude founder of Fuel Tech with a youtube channel @AndersonDick and they gave him a 1986 190E cosworth and based on that race of the champions he's going to make a tribute car for Senna. He bought the evo aero kit and the car will be themed just like the john player special lotus. If you like the evo look for his build once it's over

Thank you for this video ... for most people, E30 M3 and the W201 190E are the two most desirable cars of the 80s ... its almost impossible to get one in good condition in South East Asia.
what a beauty!!, has always been a dream car of mine......along with millions of other people! haha. one of these came up for sale at a dutch dealer last year with under 12,000 miles on the clock!! 475k asking price!!. these things truly are unicorns of the car world and the owner is super lucky to have her!!!

My great aunt went to Germany for the sole purpose of buying a 1956 Porsche 356 right off the factory line and she drove it from Stuttgart to Haderslev, Denmark, brought it back on a ship. Drove it from NYC to Cedar Falls Iowa. Then she decided she didn't like the way it idled and had the cams swapped for VW Bug so it ran smoother. Her nephew never forgave her for that. I saw the 356 Porsche and wanted to hurt you like she hurt me and my cousin lol.

Beautiful car porn, I could have spent ages looking around some of those classics. The TR6 is by Triumph, and there was an even better red example right behind you when you did your outrow. One of my favourites.
I like the fact that these ppl doesn't want to "risk it" on the ring but actually push it on the road with lots of traffic. Recently I went to a rally festival here in Spain with lots of unreplazable rally machines from the 80s/90s and a lot of them where even the real ones not replicas and drivers were going hard at them. Looking forward to watch it run in a private trackday then

The markers I II III IIII are the max useful speed of the gear. And the highlighted area is supposed to be like a quick reference for urban speed limits or something like that... All mercedes' from this era have those

What's the intake please? Trying to find something like this but no luck, would be grateful if someone shares any valuable information. Also, what's 0-100 time with this intake? Final drive ratio is 3.07 or 3.46 as on real EVOs?

I wouldn’t say no, but it’s overrated / overshadowed by the E30 M3. Always will be
overshadowed? you sure? total of 48 wins in DFM (M3) to the 42 of the 190.25.16. thats only a difference of 6. not much. if you said it was 25 wins to say 48, yeah. but 6 wins? nope. they were pretty much near even. i have driven both, back in the late 90's. on road and track. there isnt much in it. all depends on the day and driver. but the EVO is also fetching more money than the M3, it is more sort after as well.
all i can put your statement down to , is personal preference and its your right to voice your opinion. but again to say overshadowed, and it was overrated? there id say, from personal experience with both cars, that your statement isnt accurate. to me.
for the record, i am Mercedes guy, BUT, A CAR GUY FIRST! if a car is better than a Benz, i say so, if it isnt, i say so. i love all cars man. so i never really slag a car, unless it is truly crap, or far inferior. like for me, a 1983 BMW M535i , Getrag gearbox, dog-left back for 1st gear? i got to get one.

On the many reviews I’ve read by my favourite trusted journalist, I’ve only been a passenger in both, and looking at the recent price in auctions, I’d say my comment on overshadowed is pretty accurate, overrated was maybe a little over the top I admit, I’ve always preferred BMW yes, but like you I’d admit when a rival company is as good if not better, I’m actually currently looking at a few W124 500E’s to purchase.
It did play 2nd fiddle to the M3, you pretty much said that, and the demand for these was never as great when new
