Great video!! I love Virginia City!! Two quick stories. First one is a story of coming here with my family in the early 1970's. We arrived in the afternoon. A storm followed us, from Lake Tahoe. The sage smelled wonderful. When we got to town, it was pouring! Really pouring. Those rain gutters were full and pouring out into main street, one was filling up the back of a pickup truck. Lightning and thunder was really bad too! Seeing the valley light up was spectacular, as it lit up the night sky. As a kid, it was awesome and a bit scary. I'll never forget that memory. Story 2. I went to visit Virginia City, by myself, maybe 5 years ago. After touring main street, I went to the cemetery. When I arrived, the wind started to pick up and stayed windy the whole time I was there. As I left the gates and walked to my car, the wind died down to nothing. It was a bit creepy!
Very nice. Who doesn't love Virginia City!?! I went back and watched an old Virginia City episode on the Randomland channel. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it or even if it has been a while. Kind of fun hearing the old Randomland ditty.
Wow awesome episode! I love these Old West extended history lessons. Very unexpected history on something I never heard about before, The Boston Saloon. I can never have enough Old West History so please keep it coming =] Thanks
The Shady Dell, Tombstone, camping with your boy and now Nevada? It's great to see you back out at it! I stayed at the Dell this past weekend, and due to major thunderstorms Bisbee dropped down to 62 degrees Saturday night. It was heaven!
Well done! It's good to see that the town is starting to be preserve more and taking care of it's history. I was there in the early 60's. My best friend from high school 's father was co-owner in a silver claim under the town near a Chinese cemetery. The summer after we graduated, he took us to visit the claim to see a section the tunnel that had been excavated and re-shored. the original had collapsed from inadequate shoring back in history. Another historic story of Virginia city is the Sutro Tunnels tunnels built by Adolph Sutro to drain the mines. He he became one of the richest men in world in that period and spread his wealth in San Francisco.
Thank you so much for sharing your Virginia City adventures. I have also been fascinated with this town and I’m so glad you went to the cemetery and the Silver Queen Hotel. Really fun video here. Cheers from Old Highway 66 in central Oklahoma.
Very cool video, history is so amazing!Goes to show, no matter what color you are it takes hard work and determination to become successful. I love America! 💪🏻🇺🇸
I've got to visit there someday. I've always wanted to. I can almost imagine a dirt street and wagons going through the town. I love staying in old hotels. Very comforting. I stayed in the Royal Carriage Inn in Jamestown and really enjoyed in. I love the oooooooooooooold west. Always have and it's wonderful that you are exploring again. You should visit it. They have a railway park and you can even ride the train. I wanted to but was limited on time so I couldn't. You really should visit since it's one of the gold rush towns. I want to return one day and just spend a few days there exploring.
Justin!!!! thank you,I love Virginia City,I lived in and near Carson City for 20yrs,great to see it again, and the history on the Boston Saloon that I did not know about, and even have been to the grave yard a few times, again thank you!!
A little piece of trivia for you. As you mentioned, the Comstock Load helped the Union win the Civil War, but also, Nevada is the “Battle Born” state because the United States annexed the territory during the war so it could use the silver to fund the war.
At 5:38 in the parking lot right behind of the Bucket of Blood Saloon is where black owned saloon was located. In July 2000, they did an archeology dig there when I was visiting before the area was paved over for a parking lot. They found old artifacts like a pair of children's high button shoes, a gold coin, broken bottles, etc. I cannot remember all what they found, but it was interesting.
Thanks for the history lesson. I've enjoyed VA City many many times and always love it. Be sure to go in that candy store. The school is neat too. It's been 20 years since I've been there now...time to get back there. Glad to see you doing this type videos again. Keep it up. Ally is still lovely.
I literally just got back from a trip from Virginia city. My wife and I got married at the silver queen hotel 2 years ago and we try to go back every year
Hi there Justin! I’m an archeology student up at UNR, & was so thrilled to see the shoutout to our department when you discussed the Boston Saloon. In my Nevada Archeology class this past semester, we actually talked about the findings at that site. It’s so cool! Thank you for exploring Virginia City and doing all that you do!
All I wanted was a Pepsi! Just one Pepsi, and she wouldn’t give it to me! But for real, that was a great episode, Justin. Thanks for sharing all of the homework you clearly do before your trips. Great, fun, and informative historical content, and not just retelling the same old myths.
Awesome!!!! Been there a few times back in the 80s. Love the Ooooold WessssT!! LOVE the history and truth about a thriving community with various cultures working together as best they could. Love you for years!!!
If you want to come back in the fall, make it the end of October and take in the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City. There’s a lot going on in Virginia City, Carson City, and Reno-Sparks that time of year because you’ve got both Halloween and Nevada Day. When I was a kid in the ‘90s, we got the 31st off for Nevada Day (instead of Columbus Day), and Trick or Treating was done the night before in most towns. That might sound weird to some people, but we loved it because it meant that you could stay up late and not have to go to school the next day. Parents were more lenient about letting their kids eat candy, and sleepovers were common, especially when the 31st fell on a Friday. They changed the law when I was in high school, making Nevada Day the last Friday in October. Trick or Treating switched to the day itself. It was nice to be guaranteed a three day weekend every year, but it wasn’t quite the same.
i learned more about racial inequality and representation in the west from this video than in all my years of school....im a junior in college so that's pretty embarrassing on our schools here
Yea it was like the first premier episode it was like a movie kind of though I remember that they supposedly caught that detailed apparition walking in front of the camera here
We love going to Virginia City all the time. Just had a photoshoot inside the old Sharon House (not opened to the public) over memorial day weekend, and going to Gold Hill Hotel for my birthday dinner next week! It's so amazing. Love this place so much! ❤
That room at the bottom of the stairs facing the stairs on the 2nd floor is quite haunted as is the hallway. I've stayed in several rooms on the 2nd flr and they were all somewhat active. But if you want a paranormal experience stay at the miners cabin at Gold Hill Hotel next to the yellow jacket mine or overnight at the Mackay Mansion (but you need to bring sleeping bags). I think those are the two most haunted places in VC.
That is HOME to me ❤ most welcoming town ive ever been in. Really happy more people are discovering this little town and its history. I always wanted you to visit this town and make a video ❤ thanks man!
Hi justin thanks for having me along in Virginia city this is fun looks like I'm the only one watching this video where is everyone else hopefully more people watch this video this is fun hopefully you are well stay safe my friend justin and your girlfriend

I have to say, the whole haunted aspect of your stay was well played, really had me going. Or was it real? Very happy to hear you have wedding plans for later this year. Best wishes on that. You are a great couple.

That Suicidal Tendencies reference was unexpected, but awesome
I remember I was watching a Episode of Ghost Adventures & that's where Zak Bagans & his crew went to go film an Episode at that exact Haunted Hotel.
