    i got the GT sanction pro for christmas it was a huge step up from my C Bordman fs team but after snapping the frame on it twice and breaking about everything on it i think my parents realised i need somethink that can put up with a beating! i love mine it my pride and joy and whenever i go cycling now i never leave it! They can concur anything that you throw at it just as long as you can, when you're on a flatfish easy trail it feels bit sluggish but as soon as you get onto the more downhill steep style stuff they just seem to absolutely fly! I took mine on a cross country trail and even though the uphills killed me it made it round in a pretty good time! Anyone thinking of buying it should definitely think before they buy though because this bike wants to be properly thrashed, its taken me to a hole new level of skill so if you want a hardcore, downhill shredding machine the GT sanction expert/pro/team is the bike for you! can't wait to get mine on some more epic trails in the future!

      +ScotyFoxy55 I too have recently got a Sanction although it's the budget (cough) Expert version and not the Pro, it's an amazing frame and it encourages you to ride harder and faster. It's not the fastest or most nimble of climbers. It can hold it's own on the trails, but point it downhill and it becomes a beast that wants to devour anything you put in it's path... A great bike!

    Was about to get this exact bike at my local bike shop, performance bicycle, but decided to go with a more all around bike that is more capable on the climbs and in my point of view is just as capable as the sanction on the downhills. I got the specialized stump jumper fsr and put a 160 pike and monarch plus and feels unstoppable. Also the bike weighs in at 27 pounds which is pretty dang good!

    Neil, your videos of the Sanction team are great, I have one. I'd kill to see a video strip down of the pivot points on the i-drive system. I have taken apart almost all of the bike and re-assembled it - I got my Sanction about 3 months ago. I was able to loosen the two bolts that connect the idrive system to the frame but they wouldn't come all the way out. Just spun freely once loosened enough. One of them was a nightmare to get back in as the threads weren't lined up right, the strip down helped. I Know I did something wrong though.. Also couldnt find a tech manual online which included this bike. Searched high and low. Keep up the good work dude. Mark

    @CuteBrick1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been considering picking up the Sanction Pro with a heavy employer discount. I'm 5'11, do you think I should rock a medium or go large with this frame? Unfortunately, I can't try it in person as we don't have it in store.

      +Ben Byra some companies such as Specialized have started to develop the SWAT system - google it. Its basically under layer that have pockets built in. Failing that a bit of electronic tape to keep those basics attached to your frame is always a good hack. Hope this helps.

    thinking about a trek remedy 9.8 which has a carbon frame. when I saw this and the price I thought this would have a carbon frame. then I saw it didn't and was kind of disappointed. does carbon do anything a lot better than aluminum other than lighter weight? I really like this bike

    • @gmbn
      @gmbn  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bryce Kimball Aside from being lighter it is also stiffer but don't get us wrong aluminium bikes are still superb, can be light weight and are really competitive at the races!

    Neil, in your opinion, which of the GTs is the best model for climbing and downhill? does it feel way different with the head angle of 66 vs 63 when going downhill? is the force better on the uphill climbs then the Sanction? I have a sensor expert and the head angle feels too steep on the downhill.

    • @gmbn
      @gmbn  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brian Fowler The Sanction goes downhill very well, but there is always a compromise somewhere and it doesnt climb as well as the Sensor I have. But I prefer the downhills so ride the Sanction more. Neil

  • @Vlapstone
    @Vlapstone 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Compared to the Canyon you had previously, what is your impression to this GT Sanction? Is it really worth the money to exchange the 350R that came on my Expert to any other suspension for? Can you make a review on the 350R Marz?

    Hmm single pivot suspension? The simplicity is nice, but I've read people saying it don't work too well. Personally I have no experience. But I'm wondering why bike makers would go about making these complex linkage system if single pivot is just fine?

    • @Aaronski82
      @Aaronski82 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Niklas Bergsten It's not quite as simple as it looks. This is an I-Drive bike and does have more linkages at the bottom bracket end, these are visible from the opposite side of the bike... I own one of these and I owned a 2004 I-Drive previously and I can honestly say I never had any problems or found the rear suspension to be unreliable..... Hopefully I get the same reliability from the Sanction...

    Great bike , rides smooth th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .

    Why did you go for porper welds over carbon? Isn't that a big weight penalty? Also, you use a chain device even though you have a clutch mech. Would you expect to drop the chain even with the clutch mech riding enduro? I am dropping chains all the time atm with my 10 speed Sram x9 set up, but chain devices are hard to find for the press fit bb on my Intense Carbine 27.5.
