Complaining about F Stoppers articles 😂😂 every time they feature one of my videos I go and look at the comments. The amount of master photographers talking about how much better they are than everyone is absolutely fascinating 😂😂 great video Mads! I just got back from Iceland where I spent most of the time on the Southeast coast. Lots of places to explore and find original photos.
This is one of your most suggestive videos for me. It shows the real original: your personal approach to the things, you want to reveal. The best original is: you, Mads. You have a perfect knowledge of your equipment. What you feel, you can express in your photos. I know Iceland very well after 16 tours (1985 - 2018) in my own 4x4 car. I love the harshness, the vanity, the pure nature. Photos are for me the nails to fix personal memorys. You tell me your kind to see this land. There are many other things to experience: snow, wind, sand. Mankind as a very little part of nature. Thank you for your provocations. I like to follow your pictures and I love my memories. It is an exchange of personal views. Let´s go one. Thank you.
The last photo looking out to sea from Vik: sheer simple sublime beauty, Mads. Wonderful! It gives me that very special involuntary intake of breath that comes before a quiet, almost whispered, "wow!" These are the kinds of shots that leave me wanting to just sit and look and fall into the image, dwelling in the waves and the air. It's why I am a landscape photographer, and every so often, the magic works. I find your work genuinely inspirational. I've only been to Iceland once (this summer, in fact), and of course, being my first time, I went mostly for the iconic shots. I can't wait to go back and explore some more.
First of all, I like your “abstract” sea composition the best of all the pictures in this video. It is serene and contemplative, and also speaks of the North to me. I would hang that one on my wall: it is original and truly beautiful. I personally am weary of “trophy shots,” not only in Iceland, but elsewhere. I would not hang prints of any trophy shot on my walls, because the repetitiveness has reduced them to crass commercialism, however beautiful they may be. I am confident that there are plenty of “award-winning” shots left in Iceland, you just need to work to find them and shoot them under the best conditions, ... as this video points out. So, thank you for getting off the beaten track.
They are what you make them. Even though it's a "trophy" shot, it might mean a lot to the one photographing it. First time in Iceland, find memories, a step up a ladder feeling like a better photographer etc. :)
Your photo of ocean and horizon is beautiful. The vastness in this photo reveals too me how small we as humans are in this universe. The bluish grey colors enhances this feeling.
Dude I personally LOVED the Gudni inspired photo. For me, it instills a sense of danger and fear, yet a strange calm and perhaps a surreal sort of channeled excitement because the closed perspective makes it seem like I’m in a boat venturing further out in a stormy sea. Great video Mads!
I like it!!!! Simplicity is over looked in landscape photography. We are on the hunt for the picture that has every aspect in it, covers all the bases, we get more and more complex with our pictures. There was a day when thirds, leading line, light, and foregrounds weren't the norm. Simplicity can be an amazing thing. It is truly an art form when you can convey a feeling, or a mood with simplicity! Well done!
This is why I love your channel and so glad I found it in the first place. You almost always bring something different and something special to the table. Thank you for that. That last shot, I like it - the pastel colours combined with the blur, invokes a dreamy, ethereal feel.
Even though you use the same music clip for most of your vids, it works. The vids and music gives me goosebumps. Every time. You nailed a complete composition of music and visual with your vids. Thank you.
You did it again on your 46th video. You amazed me with your chalenge to find new photo ideas. I see mystical emotions in your photos of Iceland . Makes me remember of my 2017 Iceland visit.
In Bavaria we would name you „ein wilder Hund“. Calling someone like that is nothing negative at all, it shows a high degree of respect for this person ;-)
Your last shot it's perfect... It conveys peace... as if you can feel the sea breeze... And listen to the sound of the waves... It's simple and beautiful... You always do amazing! And even better!
Liked your photo of the waves very much....very calm and peaceful. Enjoyed your commentary as well. During my first trip to Iceland last October, we drove the entire Ring Road in seven days taking photos at all the iconic locations. What amazed me about this beautiful country was the fact that around every bend in the road and everywhere you looked was an amazing photo opportunity. The vastness of this place creates almost limitless possibilities for great photos. Can't wait to go back!
I appreciate the minimal shot of the sea. Some may call it abstract but where I grew up in the PNW it is a common scene standing on the beach or being out on the boat. So the image for me is a reflection of many good memories from my early years. Thank you for that🤗
As always thanks for continuing to explore the unexplored, and always looking for the new location to present...ORIGINALITY...very few are blessed with that,
I know I already commented, but you and your photos have made me want to go to Iceland even more. OMGosh! The landscape is so gorgeous and I really liked the last photo you did. It is so calming. Thanks again for your videos. Amazing!!!!
You just proved the critics wrong about originality in ICELAND. I love your positive attitude toward your photography. You look like you enjoy yourself is doing what you do. The last image you showed was very minimalist, I loved the simplicity and mood of isolation. PS: I have your map and hope to be able to use it in the not so distant future.
I love your moody sea image! I don't know why and I don't feel like a logical reason could explain it really.. It just draws me in. I could look at that on a wall for a long time! Wonderful video - thank you!
Hello Mads, i really like your still, and it’s so nice to see that a painter gave inspiration. And nice to see that with the last picture that a fore ground is not always needed. Ps we go on saturday to this beautiful country. Thanks Mads for your inspiration and commen sence. Greetings ruud
Just got back from Iceland. The best thing is that every time you turn a corner in the road there is another breathtaking scene. Yes I shot the standard scenes but some unique as well ( I’m an advanced amatuer ) love your shots. Plenty of places in that beautiful country.
Nice photos as always! I think originality sits in the mind and eyes of the photographer. Of course there are unique compositions even at popular locations!
Fantastic shoots of the reflections, but the best one is the "Vaves". It is calme and yet firce power - can't take my eyes from it, it grips you, filling you with emotion.
Really love your videos Mads! The music is absolutely perfect! I love your abstract wave photo. It really draws me in as if I'm flying over the wave out over the open ocean.
I could not imagine how some one could say all the photos have been made that cable made. A photo is a personal thing from someone own mind and heart. The seascape shot made me think that a seagull or albatross needs to be there. Thanks
I agree whole heartedly Mads. I feel the problem lies more with folk wanting the Classic images & letting that over shadow every other possibility. I've visited Iceland 3 times & did a lot of the Classic locations simply to scratch an itch . I'd dearly love to go back for a few more of the Classic locations but also to explore in the same way you have done in this video. The only issues I have with another visit are the costs , the sheer number of visitors & of course ,the weather. To travel there at not inconsiderable cost as a single traveller & get less than my ideal conditions would make me rather unhappy 🙄
That final image is sublime Mads one of the best I have seen so evocative of winter days by the sea here in Ireland . I've tried to get a shot similar to that but unsuccessfully . The first image was beautiful , this is a great lesson in photography walk your own path .
I love the wave photo. As an ocean photographer, the photo means a lot to me. It takes me back to winter surf trips down south West Aus, sitting on the dunes watching the waves roll in. Theres a sense of calmness and power. well done
Lovely video as always. I walk and take photos in the same smallish area 99% of the time (Gower, Wales). Having done the usual wide angle sunrise/sunset shots I discovered the joy of simplifying the landscape with a 70-200 and appreciate Gower far more as a result.
Actually I am really happy that use shared what filer you use. I've been so confused with which filter to buy but this one looks really good. Thanks for sharing your journey and being very in depth with your videos. I learned quite a lot watching this!
I would imagine staring at that the wave image from Vik in large print would instill a feeling of inner calm. In addition to your comments Mads about originality, a country the size of Iceland and it's diversity of landscape will ensure originality can still be achieved. Also your own composition and final edits combined with the unique conditions in my opinion will make any picture original as it is your interpretation of what you see. A great episode 👍
Especially liked the waterfall and sunset shots of the 4 originals you took. The bonus photo of the ocean was so moody, something I love in a photo. Very enjoyable video.
Thank you for another great video. Your videos are inspirational. Are some of the locations popular? Yes, however, that doesn’t mean we can’t visit and record our own take. That is what is so fabulous about photography, conditions will rarely ever be replicated, so in theory anyone can visit a location hundreds of times and come away with a hundred different shots. Are we looking for originality in the location or originality in conditions, composition and presentation. Your work inspires photographers like myself (weekend/holiday warriors), don’t stop. ❤️
Love the waves photo Mads, I love the first photo and the waterfall photo too, I'm planning to go to Iceland soon and watching your Iceland videos gives me lots of ideas, thanks for the awesome videos and keep up the great work
I am originally from northern Germany and the shot of the waves reminded me of the North Sea and the moods that prevail there, weather-wise and emotionally. I almost wanted to see an old fashioned four master in the distance plowing the waves. No tropical ocean will ever look like that even under storm clouds.
I love it Mads, not boring at all and I pretty much loved your lemonade too. I know you love the epic shots but quiet abstract images can be just as evocative and powerful.
Love the final image. It's thought provoking and whereas many images can be beautifully shot they are seen by all viewers as primarily the same thing. Your sea image opens the imagination of the viewer to interpret as they wish
Wonderful and so inspiring. For me landscape photography is mostly about finding compositions to produce pleasing images in the nature around you, even if the scene is not about grand vistas. You did this so well and it is so inspiring. Great job ! Love your videos.
As a relative newcomer to landscape photography, I have never had the good fortune of travelling to Iceland. I would like to see the sights, but I am also cogniscent of finding compositions personal to me and what my eye likes vs. what sells or is popular. We can still create the popular from wandering the countryside and originality, and that's what I like best vs. wandering from point to point in a book and frankly being squeezed by time and trying to see everything in one visit. Guides are useful to orient our thoughts, but exploring is where the creative fun is to be had :) Great video, Mads. I really enjoyed it :)
I like it. Very painterly and yes moody. Something to put up in a quiet room. Maybe a library. My favorite of this video is the waterfall. I hope you and Nigel keep doing the Faroe tour! I'd love to go next year but I need to save up.

Mads, your videos are so inspiring! Thank you for what you are doing!
Mads, thank you for this upload. I found it very entertaining and inspiring as ever. The first image presented really stood out to me, i.e the glacial river in the foreground with the mountains fading off into the background. I think this scene has great potential, in fact I can't help with thinking with a little extra coaxing in post you may already the award winning image sat on your hard drive right now! Also, some of the other scenes showcased during this video footage (but not presented as photos) look most worthy of review. Hope you know the ones I mean and have these lined up already for a future video.
Your last image gave me sense of calm, I found it very surreal but simple, for me, that's good. Thanks for the video, I've learned from this, the water fall shot being my favorite, combining long exposure for the foreground with the almost still of the waterfall itself is a new one on me and defo something I will try.
Beautiful image, Mads. At first glance it instills a calming effect. As my brain gets more involved , the image develops a little more "edginess". Nicely done.
I think it’s a good idea to have a plan for your photo trip, however sometimes I think it’s fun to just venture out on your own and see what you find. I think it trains your eye to focus in on your shots and with it comes the unexpected. I too like the wave photograph, it evokes a sense of calmness for me. Nice
Another amazing video, Mads. It was inspiring in so many ways... traveling the path less taken, working hard for unique compositions, combining exposures in an artful way, mimicking a painter's work in your shots, etc. I approve of your last image, and I think it conveys a very peaceful mood. I have heard several good things about you from other landscape photography vloggers, but now, after watching this video, I know that you truly do walk on water. ;-)
Hey Mads, this is a fantastic picture, not a bullshit. It is not necessary at all, although technically feasible, to show everything in the farthest corner. This type of photography gives the viewer the opportunity to interpret and contribute to something. To let one's thoughts roam. Nothing against the "sharp nature photography". This one is great, too. But I really want to see more of these pictures from you.
Re: The wave photo from Vik. I've gone back and forth several times already. Sometimes I love it and other times it's Meh. The best thing about it is that it draws me back. I will ignore it for awhile and view it again with fresh eyes this afternoon and tomorrow. This is a good thing I believe. My wife and I are headed to Iceland this Friday in no small part due to the inspiration from your videos. Thank You. Phil
I never thought I would like Iceland because of the cold... but after seeing the beauty of it I think I could tolerate the cold for a week. I'm not by any means a professional photographer, but just getting beautiful shots would be suffice for me. Thanks for the vlogs you create.
Good point you made Mads ! People who say that Iceland is overshot and there's no chance for originality must be more in the field an try ! Beautiful original pictures from those new locations. The first photo is stunning, the one with the waterval i like the most (love the combination of shutter speeds) ...... the picture of de beach near Vik is like you want "painterly" ... it's Fine Art in my eyes and like it a lot ..... i give it the name "LOST in RAW BEAUTY"
I'm looking out over Skaftafell at this moment after a day packed with incredible light and scenery. And thanks to your guidance I managed to achieve some shots using a slow shutter speed to get "fuzzy" water. And I didn't use a tripod but I will next time.
Outstanding video Mads... this video hit me hard, I am always chasing those well known shots... I will now take your advice and look for some shots that mean something to me and that will be different than all the well known shots... thanks
Thanks for another inspiring video Mads. I thought the 4 photos you took were very nice, and I would also have been proud to take them. I keep thinking people that make claims like "there is no new compositions in Iceland" are people who shoot with the "blinders on". They cannot think outside the box. I love the abstract photo at the end as well, and have done similar shots when travelling on the west coast in the USA near Oregon and Washington State. Take care.
Great Video Mads, good points well made, as usual. I loved the very first image, and also the one at the end. As others have said I'm not sure why, but they resonate with me, other than the moodiness of them, and I'd hang them on my walls any time.
I will soon have 17 days in Iceland in March. As an amateur photographer I hope to get some good shots. Your videos are helping me on the technical side of what and how I shoot. I have mobility restrictions and so I won't be able to hike and climb like a goat but I hope I'll get some memorable images of my ring road adventure.
Iceland is firmly on my bucket list. Great video mate love the shots you got, and the insets from previous trips. To be honest the ocean eternity shot didn't work for me but whats important is that it worked for you.Awesome watch mate enjoyed this cheers.
I really liked the final image (and the video as a whole). On the final image, as a pure amateur, I might've cropped it to a 1:1 with the horizon centred. But great example of a fine art print.
Great video as always Mads. I dropped my Kase 10 stop not long after getting it on to a pebble beach. Couldnt believe it but it was fine. Love the minimalist shot.
It is a very great video with stunning imagines though they weren´t the typical iceland shots but this is one of the points why I love these "unsual" photos. I love pictures from iceland but I am also tired to see the same stuff again and again, so that is why I think this video is important to the community.

Hi Mads. I think your "wonder" photo is amazing. It let you think what's out there. Brilliant photography.
No BS photo, works for me, waves give a serene mood. Waterfall composite certainly got my attention.
Brilliant idea Mads - so happy you decided to do this video. Iceland has ENDLESS potential for ENDLESS compositions.
I love your final moody image. Minimalism at its best. I would title it ‘eternity’.
Thank you.
The wave photo evoked a sense of inevitability. The muted colors added a dreamlike quality as well. Nice.

So, thank you for getting off the beaten track.

Seth Payseur well said bro! That image really made you feel like you were sailing into the abyss
Moises Lopez Photography heck yeah! ATMOSPHERE is what I appreciate most in an image.
I like it!!!! Simplicity is over looked in landscape photography. We are on the hunt for the picture that has every aspect in it, covers all the bases, we get more and more complex with our pictures. Hello Mads, i really like your still, and it’s so nice to see that a painter gave inspiration.

Loved the story about the Icelandic painter and loved the photo it inspired!
the picture at the end is great. Moody. Ethereal
Keep it up Mads. Love your videos x
James Attenborough definitely agree with you!

Thank You for Your Video! I agree! Your pictures are an invitation for me ... It´s just ... to open the eyes ...
I love your wave image, the minimalism of it is speaking of depth. Love your other moody pictures too.
I really like the photo of the waves. It speaks a great deal about your philosophy as a photographer.

Nailing beauty one shutter release at a time. Brilliant video as usual.
That last image made me feel like I was sailing into the abyss somewhere unknown but promising. Really rewarding today mads!
Thanks for all your hard work. The last photo is brilliant
Great video again, you have created an increasingly good video collection covering Iceland. Thank you!!!
Tom Driftwood I don’t think anyone else knows ice land as much as he does lol
Buddy, I love this last image! It’s true art and it’s so inspiring. You should go on with images like that. Congratulations!!
Love the shot! Clean, moody, but still light...
Great video! My favorite images I took in Iceland were almost all off the beaten path. The best way to explore!

20:20. Love the image. It's the kind of photo I aspire to capture. Haunting in a beautiful (not scary) way.
vargavideo definitely goals! Such an ethereal shot!
Thank You. Phil
Love that waterfall image!
That waterfall image is f#cking incredible!!
I never thought I would like Iceland because of the cold... but after seeing the beauty of it I think I could tolerate the cold for a week. I'm not by any means a professional photographer, but just getting beautiful shots would be suffice for me. Thanks for the vlogs you create.
Thanks for such a kind comment, Raymond. I remember how I also thought I'd never to go for a vacation. But now I'm hard to get south.
Good point you made Mads !
People who say that Iceland is overshot and there's no chance for originality must be more in the field an try !
Beautiful original pictures from those new locations.
The first photo is stunning, the one with the waterval i like the most (love the combination of shutter speeds) ......
the picture of de beach near Vik is like you want "painterly" ... it's Fine Art in my eyes and like it a lot ..... i give it the name "LOST in RAW BEAUTY"
love the picture, love the minimalism
Mads these images are some of my favourite of yours. The second one is beautiful.
Image is incredible Mads...a “raw” beauty, it stirs up emotions because I want to get back to Iceland!! Stunning images🙌🏼
I loved the wave/ocean photo. I’m reminded of your stormy lighthouse photo in Denmark.
I will now take your advice and look for some shots that mean something to me and that will be different than all the well known shots... thanks
Great video and beautiful landscape photos, Well done and thank you.
Thanks so much, Mads, for the tour of images of such interesting & simple beauty.
Loved the minimalism of that shot from Vik beach
hey madz, your photo is always amazing. you are so admirable. have a safe trip always..
Superb. Looking forward for your next video with the windmills
Wonderful video as always Mads, thanks dude!
Iceland is firmly on my bucket list. Great video mate love the shots you got, and the insets from previous trips. To be honest the ocean eternity shot didn't work for me but whats important is that it worked for you.Awesome watch mate enjoyed this cheers.
Awesome images Mads, particularly the last one. I also watched that documentary on route to Iceland in 2018 and like you, I found it quite inspiring.
It was actually quite an amazing photograph. I would even hand that on my wall.
Very good point Mads, and very well executed.
Love the minimalist images a lot.
Thank you for sharing, and please keep the good work.
Very simple but makes you think, Well done
I really liked the final image (and the video as a whole). On the final image, as a pure amateur, I might've cropped it to a 1:1 with the horizon centred. But great example of a fine art print.
another great video Mads. I love the waterfall shot. gorgeous work.
Excellent Mads! Great video and love your style of landscape photography.
If I had to summarize your last photo in a word, I would use the word “longing.” Incredible shot.
Fantastic video Mads! No excuses!
