    Something that I do on multiple parts short runs is to withdraw the Tool bit back to the same reading on the Crossfeed Dial. Everyone dreams of a No Backlash Screw yet Consistent Movements help.

    If you have a decent lathe ( colchester triumph or similar ) you can easily hold a dimension of .1mm if you just make sure to always wind back to account for the backlash. For supertight tolerances adjust the cross slide to 3 degrees and just use trig calculation.

    You forgot to point out that the indicator needs to be parallel to the axis. I noticed that on your videos the DTI is not perfectly parallel with the axis. I know it is only going to make a small difference but precision is what we are talking about on any machine.
