As far as a separate notebook, I totally LOVE the Miquelrius books! The paper is more thin, but I feel it holds up waaaay better than the other comparable notebooks to inks like Tul gel medium, Pilot G2, Pentel Energel, Pilot InkJoy, etc. No shadowing or smearing! Plus they're grid/graph, which is my favorite....and those giant notebooks are only $10 each! I do go through and "prime the spine" by opening the book and flattening out the pages....a few pages in from the front - flatten...then a few from the back - flatten. All the way to the middle. This makes sure the book will fully open all the way through. As a side note, this is also the paper I use in my A6 planners! I just carefully pull the cover off - - then separate the pages and fold for TN, or cut in half and punch for amazing A6 paper! 😁
Super helpful! Thank you-ordered my first Stalogy a6 today-your set up inspired me-all I want for a work Planner is a day per page and somewhere for notes 😃👍
I have the Stalogy in B6, A5 and B5 which are both amazing. I can’t deal with any A6 sizes at all. Currently using the Hobonichi Cousin (A5) and three Weeks and it’s wonderful even though my beautiful Stalogy isn’t being utilized.
I’ve found stalogy is one of the bests papers for fountain pens. The slow drying is because it is ink resistant (ink dries over the surface of the paper), a lot of coated papers do that. The downside is the increased risk of smudging... I haven’t tried tomorrow river paper yet because it is really expensive to get it in my country, but I hope I can get my ands on it soon
I use fountain pen with EF nib and Diamine shimmer ink in my Stalogy A6. I've used nib size E and M too, no problem with that. Perhaps it's the ink you have had a problem with?
Lis I haven’t had a huge issue. Some smuggling if I’m not careful and more bleeding. For the video, I was pointing out that the paper or notebook wasn’t necessarily designed for fountain pen use per their marketing. ☺️
I have used Miquel Ruis for years as a journal and I like it ... it does lie flat but you have to work with it. It will last for a year to eighteen months a day on a page. I have noticed that they are harder to find.
I came accross one of your videos and inspired be to add a Stalogy A6 for journaling. Love it due to no date vs the Hobonichi. Love them both...my Weeks. 😍 I have been using FP in my Stalogy and no issues. Been using Noodler's Heart of Darkness and Diamine inks. Using a Kaweco Fine and Medium. Love your videos thank you for sharing.
Love your videos so much! Have fallen in love with the Stalogy notebook, in large part because you inspired me to try it. You mentioned in a previous video that your ideal setup would be to have the monthly/weekly (hobo weeks) layout, in the B6 size, with the B6 Stalogy for daily pages. I'm not sure if you've used Muji notebooks before, but they have bound notebook with a monthly/weekly layout that is almost identical to the hobo weeks layout (fewer notes pages). Paper is slightly thicker, but notebook is still very compact... and it is in the B6 size. Experimenting with using it together with the B6 Stalogy in the coming weeks.
Great overview of the different planners/notebooks available in the market. Thanks for spreading the Hobonichi love. :D The different Hobonichi Techo books (Techo means "Life Book" and isn't a size) are truly amazing and I hope to see more users here in the West. :) I agree with the Stalogy not handling Fountain Pens well. I have one for work and even with some very oily gel pens (Energel and Sarasa Dry) it actually bleeds through. I have the A6.

I wish Hobonichi would come out with a B6!
OMG same.
I would have planner peace with a hobo b6 😅
Aly Penny I think I would too!
silentsiren8866 yes, that would be the ultimate!!
@@alypenny8741 I don't believe in planner peace, haha

Jakiyla Gamble Why three Weeks? Work, personal and kids? Wait, that may work
M I’m 19 so no kids thankfully but I’m using one as a depression journal, one as a goal planner, and the other as a language planner
The A5 has a 4mm grid, which drives me crazy... all the other sizes are 5mm, which I adore.

I agree, I use fountain pens in my B6 stalogy with zero issue.
Same here, I actually think it is pretty decent for fountain pens.

best review video I've seen so far comparing the stalogy and hobonichi! thank you :)
I love miquel Ruiz but it falls apart if you use it consecutively everyday

Thanks so much! Question, what's the cover of the Taroko Enigma like? Paper?
It's a thick, textured cardstock. It's really nice and durable
Where are the black monthly tabs from?

I know this video is old, but thanks for the Stalogy info! Figured out what size I'm going to buy by watching this!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
I just posted in the Hobonichi group on Facebook. This is so helpful!! Thank you!!
I too, have an obsession with paper! I have 53 unused journals.
tanya stille aww😱
how much now? were u able to use some of them?
Looove as always! What will you do with an a5 stalogy? 🤔
Oh I've had it for over a year. No plans to use it! Just wanted to try it out and play haha

great video. im sitting here with the stalogy and hobonichi and cant decide which to use lol
What is the paper in Stalogy?
It's 52 gsm. Similar to TRP but a bit thicker and slicker.
I think the Miquelrius is the same as Zequenz. Atleast from the looks of it. Maybe it was rebranded.
I was wondering!!
yay new video!
Are both of them dated?
The b6 stalogy and the cousin?
No just the cousin
