We had such a great time exploring the Eastern end of the Algarve and taking the foot ferry to Spain for the day! We will be heading to the West side of the Algarve in the next week - are there any areas you would like to see? Let us know in the comments below! Cheers🍻
Loved the video I live near Ayamonte but spend a lot of time over the border in Portugal. Its a great area to live Different cultures and different cuisine all within a 10 minute drive
Hi Michael! We would love someday to come back and stay for an extended period of time. So far it is #1 on our list!!!! Thank you for watching! Cheers!!!🍻
Hello. I’m not sure I heard you say your thoughts on the town Vila De Santo Antonio. I’m asking because one Utube from Los Angeles moved there and it looks super clean , calm , easy to go to beach . My only thoughts are it may be a little too conservative. I may be leaning towards Greece and Turkey as I kinda like a trendy vide . I know I need to go myself but I have a rescue chihuahua that is attached at my hip. So I’m trying to narrow down. I would probably get bored . Maybe I need Greek Islands lol
Hello! We loved Vila Real. Very clean with a great beach just a 5-minute car ride away. If you are looking for more of a less conservative vibe the western half of the Algarve may suit you better. We are currently in Lagos and will have a video out next week. We will also be doing a video on our best spots of the Algarve. That video will be out sometime next month. Cheers!!!🍻
Thank you, Suz. We have a number of videos from the Algarve that you may want to take a look at. The "Pros and Cons" video will cover all that we covered throughout our 2 months stay. Thank you for watching and safe travels. Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie We will watch them all! Thanks again for all that you do. You’re exploring the world and sharing your knowledge. Love that. Keep enjoying life 💕
I’m really enjoying your videos. Portugal is next on our list of destinations. I’m Portuguese and have been dreaming of going there all my life. New subscriber here 🙌🏼💕
We love it here!!! Portugal should be on everyone's list. We were here three years ago and visited Porto, Lisbon, and Lagos. We loved Porto!!! We only had 2 days in the Algarve so had to come back for a longer stay. Hopefully, you make it this way soon! Thanks for the support and sub!! We really do appriciat it!! Cheers!!!🍻
9:53 Sorry if it’s discussed already but what is with all the boats that are on the beach? [EDIT: adding timestamp] >>> googled... those seem to be "traditional fishing boats" in some things I found online. didn't think they looked like that, though....
Hi Paul! We are having such a great time! We leave tomorrow for Lagos and are excited to explore the west side of the Algarve. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! Cheers!!!🍻
About 3 months ago you stated that you would probably never get back to Spain...and looky looky you did. Bikes were a good choice. We rented bikes in Valancia Spain and loved it. I bet you guys walk a lot. Exercise and a pint. ok...Cheers.
This is great! We visited VRSA in November 2021 but didn’t have enough time to visit Ayamonte or Monte Gordo - so this is a great video! We’ll visit next trip. Thank you. 👍🏻
It is really easy. Just make sure you get to Ayamonte mid-morning so you can enjoy everything before they close for the afternoon. Things shut down at about 1:30 for 3 to 4 hrs. 🍻
When I was in the Algarve a little over 5 years ago, I really only explored the western part. And though I fell in love with that area, it looks like I need to come back and spend some time in the eastern part as well. And the proximity to Spain is a nice bonus. Loved the video. You two are definitely making me want to start doing what you are doing sooner than the planned 2-3 years from now. Keep nudging. 😅 Now what the hell am I going to do from now until Thursday when your next video comes out? 😅 Cheers! 🍻
HA!! Thursday will be here before you know it!!! We have really enjoyed this part of the Algarve, and being so close to Spain is a huge bonus. We will be in Lagos next week and, although we have been there it will be interesting to compare the two! Thanks as always for watching!!! Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie -Sadly yes back to the grind. Already planning my next trip may be Sep/October i see some good deals to Portugal in the $400 plus Round trip. have to lock in those prices.
Just found you guys! Goal would be to retire in Algarve in the future BUT thinking about taking 3 months somewhere between January and April. Picking off season to see what it would be like as we hate Canadian winters. Really trying to narrow down which towns to try! Would 2-3 weeks in each would give a good feeling?
Hi, Vanessa. Not sure if you have had the chance to watch some of our other videos on the Algarve but we have done several. I'll leave a link to one that covers all the places we stayed and which were our favorite. Thank you for watching! Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie I finished watching them. What are your thoughts on the time frame of in each town to get a good feel of it? 2 weeks / 3 weeks or a month. As we can only get 90 days unless we apply for a visa. Still doing research and watched your video on that too.
We would think 2 weeks would be enough time to get an idea of everything you would be looking for in a long term place to stay. While we were in Lagos we met a couple that were coming to the end of their 90 days. We were supposed to meet up in Croatia for a beer in Oct. but It turns out that they decided to get the visa extention and stay in Portugal. It sounds like the process is easy. Something that we would concider doing before we made a finel decition. 🍻
Hello, me and my fiancé, just started our early retirement adventures and we really enjoy our videos 🤩 we just arrived to Olihao one week ago and we are going to be here until June 19, we like to have beer with you guys 😄
Hey guys!! That'd be great! We leave for Lagos tomorrow until July so we will be in the area. You can message us on Instagram and we will figure something out! 🍻🍻
@@BrianandCarrie I'm house shopping and I think housing is a bit more expensive in Portugal. But, more favorable for taxes. My wife is Spanish so I'm sure we will end up in Spain but I always wonder.
We really enjoyed the eastern half of the Algarve a lot. More the vibe and the laid-back Atmosphere that I'm sure you can find in Spain. We are really interested in Cadiz and the rest of that area of Spain. Either way, you can't really go wrong! 😄
@@BrianandCarrie My in-laws have been in Cadiz for the past 10 days. They loved it. But, they like those long flat beaches. I think Cadiz looks like its always windy but they said it hasn't been too bad. Safe Travels.
Where are you staying in the Algarve? We have Faro on our itinerary (after Porto and Lisbon) wondering if this is the best place to base ourselves to see all these beautiful areas?
Hi Annette! We are in Cabanas just outside of Tavira. We did a video of Tavira and Cabanas a couple weeks ago. Faro is a great place to base yourself. It is a bigger city so not as quaint and picturesque as many of the other places to visit. However, the main train station is in Faro so you can get anywhere east to Vila Real and West to Lagos without changing trains. We highly recommend Vila Real and taking the ferry to Ayamonte. Thank you for watching and safe travels. Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie thank you for your reply. I’ve noted down these places as they look lovely. Love your videos and the places you’re visiting….you’re doing a great job 👍

Thanks for the great video and info, we are in Tavira for a few days this week and were going to drive into Spain but the foot ferry looks much more fun!
We really loved Vila Real de Santo Antonio! The foot ferry is fun and if you have a car get out to the beach!! It is amazing!! Safe Travels!! Cheers!!!🍻
Nice video you are doing a great job at explaining how easy it is to have your kind of lifestyle. The town you went to in Spain looked lovely. The Algarve and Southern Spain are both cold for a few months in winter. If you can look into the Canary Islands where it is mild during the winter. I am really looking forward to your take on Southeast Asia. I spent my honeymoon in Koh Samui and while I loved it would not want to make it my base. For me Spain is the best country. Away from the coast properties are cheap and the lifestyle is excellent.
We would love to go to Morocco! Not sure we would want to stay there for a month. Our style of travel has been to stay in each place for a month to lower our costs. We will change that up when we go to Asia however. thanks for watching!! Cheers!!!🍻
The Canary Islands look great as does Madeira Island. We looked into each at one point and will probably look into it further in the future. Again, thanks for watching!! 🍻
