you know, in films and stuff like that, im always most impressed by the filmcrew. i mean they have to go to the same dangerous places and all but also have to handle the cameras, the drones and so on.
Thats what i also think. Espicaly when i watch bear gryls vids..
Ya no kidding
Nazimelonhamster That's why Survivorman was deeply impressive.
Lotta respect
LOL...is there any proof they actually went up to the centre of the earth? They could have filmed this whole thing in one area and made it look like they went 100's of miles.
For anyone thinking that when she hit the dogs, it's animal abuse, it's not. As Richard said, they are not pet dogs and will fight if she does not show control. Her hitting them is less painful and will cause a lot less damage than what they would do to each other, so she has no choice. Plus those sled dogs are as hard as nails.
annnnd I am out....tough as nails or not....I can't watch that...on to part 3....
Through their thick fur and hide, I doubt they felt much. And yes, those dogs would do far greater damage to each other than some woman with a stick lightly slapping them would. It's the show of force that matters, not the impact of the thing.
Hell, even my dog has cracked his head on the bottom of the pantry door when he's excited (he likes to jump in place, it's cute as hell) and barely flinched. Just kept jumping away. And he's about as domesticated as a dog can get.
the proverbial fur on those is so thick them hits are like little pinches for them
@@lastemperor3618 You do know dogs bite eachother and kill eachother to show dominance or leadership. What she did is nothing
@@lastemperor3618 No, they are kids. Not wild pack animals...
That tire trick, was badass.
Jnzbad its called tire stretching
That comma, was unnecessary.
Hahaha we been doin that for years, any good off roader will know that trick because it can save your life
science bitch!
I tried it once on a boat trailer tire after seeing this episode. I burned the eff out of my hand. It got infected too. I'm okay though and it makes for a good story. I still have the scar.
Hammond is a tough man.
He almost got to the pol, and he had to live on top of a Canadian mountain for a week
was it seriously a week?! I never looked deep into and assumed it was editing and had been there for only a day?!
@@StonedSpagooter apparently James got lost and stuck so he never did get to hammond in that mountain episode. In the end the search and rescue people did come and get them but hammond was on there for little while longer
The lengths a man will go to in order to one-up his mates.
Not to mention he was also still recovering from brain damage at this point. I think Hammond must be the Highlander...
For all those curious about the C47/DC3 that James and Jeremy found:
Up that far north used to be a remote Canadian weather station up there called "Isachsen" which was part of a network of such stations called "Joint Arctic Weather Stations." The plane itself was attempting to take off despite being overloaded, suffering a buildup of ice and snow on the cockpit/wings, and 5 inches of snow on the runway. It attempted to take off several times before hitting a large snow mound. The collision ripped off the undercarriage of the plane, the landing skis and tore the engines off of the wings and sent it skidding about 3000 feet across the frozen bay near the runway. Among the crew of 10 aboard, the only injuries suffered were minor cuts and bruises.
Thank you
Brony Twelve Then why was there bullet holes?
H34dHun734R I'm guessing because the wreckage was possibly used as target practice by some bored personnel; it could be an entirely different wreckage, but this was the only documentation of a downed DC3 in the arctic that was found thus far
Brony Twelve Did some searching and found this www.oldwings.nl/content/c47_yic/c47.htm
Brony Twelve It is the right plane. Tail numbers match ;)

+john smith Any egg-heads out there able to explain how that trick worked?
Don't you just love Borat references
Lighting a fire with the hairspray created a vacuum in the tired which then sucked onto the rim.
Love a bit of Simon Lane
Harry Noke Yes! I knew that quote years before I’d ever heard of Borat all thanks to the Yogscast.
There's 2 choices. Many dogs ripping each other apart with their teeth for a prolonged period of time. Or choice 2 the woman assuming alpha male status and dispensing a few hits with a blunt object. Choice 2 is way quicker and kinder if you love animals.
Otherwise you have lots of blood and injured dogs, plus that means you just sit there watching them tear each other apart rather than stopping it.
@Snow Wolf sled dogs are about as close to wolves as you get. And wolves do the same thing.
@Snow Wolf "obsolete" talk to remote inuit communities, will you?
@Snow Wolf guard dogs and police dogs normally tend to be separated in kennels when not on duty and its bit more than a hobby it's a sport as well as a mode of transportation
A lot of people here pointing out that the dogs are pack animals, wilderness instincts & natural behaviour etc. Being tied to a sled to drag humans around has nothing at all to do with nature or any natural life these dogs might have had. They are often chained in crates when not in use, discarded like trash when they are injured from being worked, bred for a higher number of dogs for the tourist season, used and overworked all day for tourist rides in high season & killed off at the end because it’s cheaper to breed new dogs than feed the high number of dogs during the off season. There is no need for this in the 21st century. You can go look all of this up online.
@@SydneyDrums many dog handlers breed these dogs and then when they grow too old keep them as pets
That C-47 crashed when it took off from a near wheather station which is now abandoned. It is located at Isachesen.

If you're IQ is above 50 you don't punch people that you work with.
Why though? I mean what's the difference between some prick you work with and some random prick?
hanse81 he was tired and hungry, I personally have an urge to punch some people when I'm tired and angry
I always end up respecting countries 2 million times more when they help top gear lol. the Ugandan army, and Icelanders now have a positive stigma with me
Mr. Redsnake you wait till the North Korea special
"Positive stigma"? A positive mark of disgrace? Is there really such a thing, or is it just that you don't really know what stigma means?
The mind boggles.

It really annoys me that they cut out the segment with Richard reaching the secluded, temporarily-abandoned cabin with Matty.
It was such a peaceful, wonderful moment - Richard opening up the unhinged door and discovering a veritable treasure-trove of comfort in the middle of the arctic wilderness - a small kitchen with plenty of unspoiled perishables for use, including a fully-functional stove; a bedroom with a couple of bunks and flimsy mattresses that would have afforded ample comfort in comparison to the tents they were camping in... And all the while, the polar sunset was shining in through the windows on Richard's face like God beckoning him to indulge in these simple pleasures rather than continue on with his campaign to beat Jeremy and James to the pole...
Like I said, it was a truly great scene and it's a shame that the BBC decided to cut it.
Was that in the actual episode I can’t remember
@@shoazdon7000 It was! Here's the clip: th-cam.com/video/qret6bzSCak/w-d-xo.html
@@CopiousDoinksLLC thanks I eventually found it but it’s good you posted it here for someone else to see. Really wish they put it in the official airing episode

"I will never ever ever complain about the quality of a hotel again" - Clarkson.
6 or 7 years later, punches a producer because of not getting a hot meal at a hotel and gets sacked.
Then he gets approached my an delivery company asking him if he wasn't so to head up there new tv series based on his show
I don't think he actually punched anyone.
I think this was filmed in 2007 btw.
how was it filmed in 2010 when this video was released in 2009
Nick and Ben videos Lol you're wrong - I remember watching this when it came out in 2007
"I am never ever ever going to complain about a hotel ever again" check africa special
to be fair i can understand complaining about a hotel which has poop on the bed
At least the artic was sterile,I mean not sterile, but it’s too cold for diseases,so technically it was better and cleaner
He literally got fired for bitching about food at a hotel then punching the producer over it.

I was really pulling for Hammond on this one. He definitely earned it.
Whenever he could he would get off the sledge to make it lighter for the dogs or even push it.
I was disappointed that Hammond did get to be in the truck for this one. He would’ve loved it
Sure it was harder, but the point was to prove that the dog sled was inferior to the mighty Toyota
This was 11 years ago! Holy Shit!
I remember coming back from school and waiting for my father and older brother to come back from work so we could watch Top Gear together. This show was the one thing all of us had in common. We would just chill, eat and laugh together whilst watching . I remember when the snow dogs came on on the tv and my dad just stared at our husky and just randomly asked “I wonder if Hugo (dogs name) could do the same”. I may sound over sentimental or whatnot but this show was truly a big part of my childhood. Most memories regarding my younger days was around this show.
Genius putting James n Jeremy together. I am sure Richard was enjoying not having to play buffer between them
clarkson: "I will never ever ever again complain about the quality of a hotel" - *Gets sacked over a fight about the quality of a hotel*
Is THAT what that was about? Ridiculous. I guess enough fame can turn you into a bit of a primadonna.
i think the main issue may have been that he was piss drunk , and apparently an angry drunk. either that or he's just "a knob" as may put it
Person Personsson me or dr deep sea
It was actually over food
He had every right to be pissed. Sometimes we lose our cool. We're all just human.
Hammond is a proper badass...balls of graphene coated titanium!
And Clarkson can be a jackass...
Wow- the dogs are incredible- and the musher, Matty, is as well. Big props to Richard for going all out for it, too.

"We pulled down the tent for, what would be, the last time."
What about the trip back? :/
+Shane Fell They will use the eagles
+Shane Fell Helic or plane
+Shane Fell Everything in this show is a fake facade. Theyre never in danger, they dont actually race anything and the competitions are rigged. Its just long car commercials
+RebelForce8 Is a fake facade a real thing? I know two wrongs don't make a right but a double negative like that must make a positive.
+Shane Fell After they reached the pole, an aircraft flew up to the Pole from Resolute to pick up the presenters and some of the film crew, who were then taken back. Then a few of the remaining crew and the icelandic mechanics drove the cars all the way back to Resolute
That wind skiing looks amazing
0:00 That line from James are one of my most favourite from Top Gear and the lead up to Jeremy’s reckless actions was hilarious
Those doggies are amazing creatures. Relentless in their determination to get to their destination. We could learn a lot from them I reckon.

That crashed C-47 was super cool!
Having recently started offroading, I can appreciate this episode so much more
After the Icelandic guy said "great success!"
I instinctively shouted "Wawa weewa!" 😂
1:30 Even in the remotest part of the world you still can't escape a Borat reference
They had the most popular show in the entire world at this point. So they chose to be stuck with eachother in -40 degree temperatures and thrown off dog sleds and nearly abandoned in the arctic for the sake of television. Admirable.
the part where they find the plane amazes me its like a time warp lol idk why but that kind of thing is just too damn cool to me
Kudos to the camera men and those incredible angles on the flats
You have basically advertised a Toyota Hilux and now I see them everywhere.

looking forward to part three! IMO no matter how this ends, Hammond will be the real winner...respect!
this episode was amazing...good times, fantastic
The top gear videos are the only videos with a non-toxic comment section. Instead of being toxic they help clear up why the dogs were being hit instead of atacking people. Thanks everyone.

9:00 Very nice aeroplane amidst the arctic ice
These 3 are funny man, love it
It’s interesting all the discussions about dogs and Hammond’s thoughts on dog sledding. During the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, the British disliked what it took to dog sled in the Antarctic (which involves killing, eating the dogs, and feeding dog meat to the other dogs) to the degree that they disliked using them, instead relying on man-hauling, lugging shit with their own muscle.
That policy is what let Amundsen get to the South Pole first, he was able to do what was needed to stay alive, including eating the dogs. But the British dislike of the practice got Scott and his polar team killed.

OMG 3:20 PETA is gonna freak out...
They are pact animals, and she is the alpha...
preston121068 I know I am late but: they have very much fur,the leash hits won't hurt them badly but will distract them from fighting, imagine having a winter jacket on and being hit with a leash
TiMeJ34nD1T You have to understand that PETA are a bunch of retards that think any interaction with animals is abuse. They're basically SJWs for animals.
preston121068 I used to race dog sleds. PETA would always throw a fit at the races and no one cared.
preston121068 and then
poison the dogs
So, Top Gear went through all the effort, spent all the money that is needed to bring a car to the North Pole, with the sole goal of making Hammond miserable.
That is a phenomenal dedication.
