  • The City of Carlsbad will transition to their new hauler, Republic Services, starting July 1st 2022, ending Waste Management's long era. I was fortunate enough to get a self guided tour of garbage can central, aka, a dirt lot just behind the water treatment facility. I like how Carlsbad decided to brand the carts with the city name instead of letting Republic roll their own carts out. Becasue Carlsbad transitioned to automated collection in the last decade, it's just your basic Rehrigs and Ottos being rolled in, and while that may be boring, that has allowed WM to distribute these carts to other yards around California versus shredding them all.
Huge thanks to the yard crew for allowing me to look around!

Interesting that Carlsbad decided to go with their own city carts. Have you heard anything about what Republic Services plans to run in Carlsbad? Do you know if they're going to come out of one of the San Diego yards or get a new facility up near Carlsbad?

I think their regular ZR's like what they have been buying for Chula Vista and the San Diego yard.

I believe they're going to run 520 ZRs and if I'm not mistaken, RS will occupy WM Carlsbad yard. WM is shutting that yard down and moving everything to El Cajon in July. RS Carlsbad will also take some of RS Eastgate accounts like Carlsbad USD and some beaches.

Did you know that we are getting a new Trash hauler From Waste Management To Burrtec Waste Industries On July 1’2023

california's new recycling law requires all carts to match: grey trash, green organics, blue rcycle. Since oakland doesn't yet have those, i wonder if they will use these

Unique Video! Im curious to whereabout they will re-distribute the old wm carts for trash&recycling considering no other yard/city in socal have the same color code.

I'm guessing they'll probably put a new lid on the carts to make them compliant and then distribute to any yard in need

Probably gonna send them to Tulare/Fresno. They love rolling out old stuff up there.

So many wm cans. What about the trucks with this contract lost? Do you plan to go back there in July to see what republic is running there.

Waste Management trucks will be reassigned to El Cajon yard. And of course!

Should have grabbed that tub at 1:41 lmao.. Like everyone has said it's funny how Carlsbad went with their own logos instead of Republic ones. That's a lot of toter so I think we have yet another Toter land city! Did you film the roll out/roll in? I'm pretty sure and have to imagine it looked just like Los Banos. Let's see home many new carts are broken before July 1st.

I'll take a set of these over Santa Ana's new carts any day. I wonder if they'll send any of these out of state as well. Even though they're the Irvine yard's original color code, just trash & recycle reversed, they can't even use them anymore. And I'm sure Irvine's color code will be completely gone within a year or so too.
