Welcome to zp12684, home of the flagship Fresno State Football series! I've been interested in garbage trucks for as long as I could remember, waking up on Thursday morning and waiting for City of Fresno's Volvo Heil 7000s to come through my neighborhood. Unlike the Heil 700s, my interest in garbage trucks never went away, fast forwarding 15 or so years to 2020 when I really started making an effort to film the haulers in the Central Valley. That effort has since expanded to San Diego, Santa Cruz and other places in California where my interest has continued on. Sometimes the coolest trucks are right outside your door, while other times it requires some driving.
On this channel you can find everything from a 1998 Volvo Amrep collecting trash in scenic Yosemite National Park to a brand new futuristic 2022 Freightliner Econic Heil collecting trash in Clovis as well as many more!

2010 Peterbilt 320 White Octo Amrep
WARE San Diego continues to grow with their newest and biggest addition yet, the San Diego Unified School District contract. The contract calls for dedicated routes during the school year so in order to be prepared for the first day of school, WARE did their homework and bought two "new to you" trucks to run the routes, one of those being this 2010 ex Bakersfield Octo Amrep. Although it's not the fastest truck, it's still pretty unique seeing a 14 year old truck getting a new life for years to come.

Last year, the City of Selma garbage contract went out to bid with three companies submitting a bid packet: WM, IWS and Mid Valley Disposal. The city ultimately chose MVD with a start date of July 1 2024. Why can't we in L.A get awesome rehabs like this?! I'm fed up with the amount of McNeilus and Heil over here. This also makes me question if Bakersfield's old Condor Octo Front Load is still alive somewhere, maybe being rehabbed.
Republic Services used to have the SDUSD contract, right? I'm remembering that video of the spare Leach FL from a while ago...
they have so many school districts. I am not sure why they do not invest new trucks like they did for RecycLA?
I think that contract specifically called for new trucks from every hauler, that’s why Athens bought their ACX Heils, NASA bought their Peterbilt Amreps, WARE bought their Peterbilts, Republic bought their Peterbilt Heils, CalMet bought Peterbilts, WM bought their Autocar Amreps

I've never been a fan of mixing. I used to be a garbage man and would be a little upset when told to mix. They make the residents put in the effort to sort, then we dump it all in the trash. Great video.

Only Watsonville will pick just any color for their trucks. Washington DC based I guess? Except it’s a 520 and the cab is painted orange. Wondering if all that is recycled or if it goes to the landfill.

They do like every time when I watch garbage trucks on TH-cam my dad and he used to go to work and every time he’s next week he’ll be riding the garbage truck but not is itin Saint Pete because he’ll be riding in

That week was a holiday with Monday off, combine that with their regular driver shortage and recycle delays meant at least 10 trucks were running this Sunday.

I’m sure the city has learned the hard way several times enough to warrant this all hands on deck week with MarBorg. It’s pretty interesting you say how much trouble they go to to divert as much as possible, one of the main reasons being their main landfill has about 2 years left before they gotta close it or expand it even more. And I can’t go without saying that if Harrison ran several dozen rear loaders, that is definitely a tipper attachment idea we’d come up with too. Gotta respect the old school welders at these family owned haulers just coming up with extremely simple yet clever devices to enhance field operations.
Oh definitely so! The less debris out on the street means less chances for fires happening. Apparently IV had a pretty big problem a decade or so ago with people going around and setting couches on fire, so much so that the county code now prohibits indoor furniture outside a dwelling. I didn't know that about their landfill. Wonder what their plan will be especially with NIMBY and California's stance on new/existing landfill expansion. Gotta love in house builds. Simple, yet effective!

@@951Trashkid I would think a majority of Laguna's carts would be scrapped becasue they're out of compliance, but then again, a bunch of Santa Clarita carts were too and WM made it work with new lids and stickers

From what I hear, Shasta County (Redding yard) is going to be rolling out organics next year with the new contract, once it’s signed, we’ve got all kinds of used carts from all over up here, but they’re slowly being faded out and they’re dishing out all new green body rehrigs with the black and blue color coded lids. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they grabbed used carts from a contract loss that are green bodies and just make sure they get new organics lids on them. Would help keep the cost cheaper. Guess we’ll have to see in the next year or so…
