Thank you for not risking your life. Once again you were dwarfed by those trees. I was feeling sorry for the crab. Thank you for letting him live. Great video, awesome scenery.
One should always do 10 times more research when planning a winter trip where inclement weather could be an issue. Especially in areas such as yours where there is always a potential of parcipatation in the form of snow, sleet, ice. It is also Always in your best interest to carry, food as well as shelter. They are just as important as having a knife, tarp, or tent, paracord, and warm clothing and a way to make fire. Remember the 5 ps. Proper planning presents piss poor preformance.
I love your videos for all the great scenery as well as your adventures. You are wise to have turned back before the snow storm! Too bad that crab was a wee bit too small. How does that saying go.. .Success is in the journey and not the destination.
Wise decision to turn back. Not so wise to really even try given the forecast. Also NEVER go out up there without at least a 10x13 ft tarp or tent. You have to also consider the exposure to a rescue team coming to find you in very bad conditions. So all good. On a summer day do it. Beautiful crabbing. All good. A day outside is better than being inside. All good from east KY USA
I crab for many years. The best bait to use is fish head. Fished's bunker. Chicken's not really a natural thing in the water. The fish oils work better.
Never seen the ocean or crabbed but I grew up catching crawdads, the best bait was chicken livers left out in the sun for a bit... works great for catfish too... dunno how crabs would respond
@@thebeardedhomesteader it is.. most definitely... and you gotta get the timing right for the best result... too much and they don't want them and bait won't stay in a trap, on a hook the same.. but I have no idea about catching crabs or if they'd respond similarly.. good to know if I ever make it to the ocean... I assumed the same but you never know til you try
@Jay-is2jy I always used bait fish if I remember they called it bunker cut in half peace in each trap. If you want to cheat wait till dark use a flashlight shine on the water and the crabs swim up to it and net them not sure you're allowed to do that lol
@@thebeardedhomesteader works for crawdads and frogs too... I always used the livers cause they were cheapest bait and had the best results... and I live in colorado.. not the best location for crustaceans
Always enjoy travelling with you, Jon. Here at sea level we've been hearing about the snow in the mountains, but it's been all rain, all the time. Kaya says, "Zip tie a chicken leg to my tail, daddy!" I love crab season -- just to eat, not to go crabbing. I'm going to sit in front of the tv this afternoon with a bowl of crab bisque and watch the Seahawks lose again.
Great video, and I'm really loving the new format and minimalistic vibe. The adventures were always the best part of your videos. A suggestion if it hasn't already been made, try a portable smokeless fire pit. Very efficient and mostly smokelss. Cheers.
Watch the weather crabs do like fresh water so if it's been raining a lot crabbing will be slow, netarts bay only has a small creek that flows into it. Shad is one of the best baits you can use, chicken is good because the seals don't like it. Tillamook sporting goods use to have mink for crab bait.you can have up to three rings\traps. Get a heavy fishing pole and a crab snare they work. Watch the river levels and when they drop try again. Try the other dock by the harbor deeper water there.
I lived in the Oregon for a short while and we heard there was going to be snow coming so we got the snow shoes and all the gear ready. It was only a 3 mile or so hike so we got a late start. The destination was atop a mountain so we expected awesome views and great snow. What we did not expect was a hike full of switchbacks and extended wilderness which added 2 miles. We made it pitched the tent and then it got dark. Longest night ever but great trip and great snow.
smart call bro. Especially when you are out there alone you need ot be extra careful. 1 injury can spell death if your out of reception with no gps comms and no wiggle room for time.
Love all the different places you went, very beautiful, kya yellow coat is so cute, her face when she saw the crab, priceless . Enjoyed the video glad to see you back on the road.see you next week. Jeanie
unless you were actually right on the coast, that "bomb" cyclone wasn't all bad... i'm on vancouver island and it barely blew any branches down.. lol. west coast loves to hype up storms too much
I love crabbing! I was so rooting for your pull! Im from Oregon and grew up crabbing and its my favorite. Now on east coast and its blue crab, bleh… dont like it , miss the PNW. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I am glad you had the common sense to turn around... I guess that storm was huge.... and what if you had lost your way... or been snow bound, or got hurt..... You chose wisely.... the history books are not full of guys who made good choices but moreso guys that didn't....
Thought that there was a two person minimum to get a permit reservation for the Tilly Jane A frame cabin always carry an emergency shelter may get caught out because of injury etc. Good idea to turn around better luck next time. Try Fisherman's Korner restaurant for great local fresh seafood in Garibaldi next time you don't get any crab highly recommend.
I was there at garibaldi pier like 3 weeks ago and had good luck also cause I was at the end of the pier , sometimes you have luck sometimes not either way it’s always fun going crabbing !
Your mistake was attaching chicken to the outside of the cage. They didn't need to crawl inside to get at the chicken. Always only put it inside the bait box...
Hey Jonathan, its great to see you posting videos again! If have a have a second could you please tell me the name of the firepit? I would love to buy one!
WOW Jonathan Yeah better safe then sorry, Do U know how bad it got ? Fort Wayne Indiana got first snow if the season Thursday only about 1 inch Have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Hey bro, been watching you for a while. Moved to the pnw a year ago. If you ever want to meet up for a collab, would love to hang out. Great shots as always!
Anytime you have a pup with you is never a wasted time.
Facts 🤝
You made the right choice to turn around. Many experienced people die every year from not listening to their instincts
100%, a tip i learned from a federal agent, how they are trained, is always follow your instincts. dont ignore them for logic or any other reason. they are more accurate then we give them credit and keep you out of deadly situations.
But it was farther back to the car
Got caught in a nasty blinding Nor’easter a few years ago in Massachusetts. Luckily we made the hike back to the cabin. Never do that again.
An adventure is better than no adventure, I’ll take it any day.

I agree! You had a good week!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful videos!
Your pup is adorable too.
It wasn’t too shabby! Thanks for watching
Always keep a good emergency shelter in your pack. They don't take up much space.
Certainly agree.
Thanks for sharing your adventure!!
Thanks for tagging along!
Thank you for not risking your life.
Once again you were dwarfed by those trees.
I was feeling sorry for the crab.
Thank you for letting him live.
Great video, awesome scenery.
Yay I’m so happy you are back. Love the adventures no matter the rig
Appreciate you!
Sometimes life takes a detour, spending time outdoors with your pup is always fun!
I honestly prefer the "lift isnt perfect" videos from all the youtubers I follow...much more real. Great week IMO!
I agree
Beautiful spot. Thanks for the adventures!!!!
Life sucks sometime.I like your videos anyway. It was good hanging out awhile.
I appreciate the keeping it real and your positivity is infectious!
What beautiful views of you trekking through the snow-laden evergreens! May God continue to bless you brother.
Power on❤you are a natural. Love the NW. I think you are emerging again from the dry spell
Love it here as well! Thanks for watching.
Glad you turned back that looked like a nasty storm headed your way 💕🤙

GREAT video Jonathan!
Failed missions or not, it doesn’t matter! We enjoy all of your adventures! Thank you for sharing these times with us! ❤️
Your success was that you were smart enough to turn around and live another day! Loving the suspense of waiting for your next build.
Things don't always work out, thanks for keeping it really which is a success in my book. 👍🏻

Hey no need to have a success story all the time! The fact that you can get away for adventures cold…hot weather is enough fun!

Never seen the ocean or crabbed but I grew up catching crawdads, the best bait was chicken livers left out in the sun for a bit... works great for catfish too... dunno how crabs would respond
@Jay-is2jy That's probably the key to leaving them out in the Sun, so they're kind of rot, cause crabs are bottom feeders and whatnot.

Hope the crab bisque was a bit better with that sweet sweet win
Comcast went out. I missed the second half. 😕

Hey, jo, safety first before anything else. Good day to you and your puppy. Thanks for the videos, i' m inspired
Good video. It doesn’t matter that things did not go your way. Life is such.
Good Zen attitude. Good to see an authentic adventure.
Another nice video, Jonathan, even though it's sans camper. You're getting really good at this!😊 Love the drone shots. Keep it coming!
Enjoyed watching and seeing beautiful landscapes and you & your doggie 👍🏼👍🏼✌🏻❤️
I guess it depends on what you look at as a failure, because within those experiences some wonderful things occur when we think it over❤🙏
Omg ..always follow your gut instinct…it works..Kia is so gorgeous…love her ears…

Some good day, some bad day, accept it. This is the way of life. Maybe, luck will be on your side tomorrow, right or not

So many options for adventure…exciting!🤩🇦🇺
Look on the upside. The video was awesome and you did some cool stuff in beautiful places
You didn’t strike out! You got a video out! Happy Thanksgiving sir!
A day or two out in the middle of nature is never a fail. Sure is beautiful there,
When you crab begin at slack tide before the tide is coming in . This is the best time to catch them
Once again i am amazed at the gorgeous scenery! I look forward to all your videos.
I enjoyed this new style of video . Reminded me of like mr rodgers talking to us lol.
More like this jonathan!
Your pups needs the gortans fisherman's hat lol

Saw this dude drove around Winco/New Season Market by Cedar Hills, Beaverton earlier today
Perhaps if you used a whole chicken room temp? And try leaving it in the water overnight or from 6pm to 11pm. Great video.
That current at the kreb spot looked rough, no wonder there weren't any krebs 🦀
True.
unless you were actually right on the coast, that "bomb" cyclone wasn't all bad... i'm on vancouver island and it barely blew any branches down.. lol. west coast loves to hype up storms too much
Thank you for your wonderful videos!
It was very interesting, thank you.
The Pacific Coast West is quite beautiful.. You just have to be ready for the diverse weather
Very true. You pay for the beauty ha! Worth it though.
Yes! "Work smarter not harder" and "better to be safe than sorry" both in the same day. Those old proverbs prove as wise today as they have ever been.
Exactly 🫡
I love crabbing! I was so rooting for your pull! Im from Oregon and grew up crabbing and its my favorite. Now on east coast and its blue crab, bleh… dont like it , miss the PNW. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Anybody else missing the truck camper?
Great snow fall, can’t wait for my 1st of the season.
The transition to snow is always exciting!

Welcome back, cool video !!!!!!

Brrrr don’t know how you do all that snow. I love watching though. ❤❤
It’s all in the layers 😄

I paid for 2 spots 😭
I agree, the PNW is great!
Kiah gave you the side-eye when you asked her about crabbing, LOL.
She’s got a pretty good, sassy side eye 🤣
I was there at garibaldi pier like 3 weeks ago and had good luck also cause I was at the end of the pier , sometimes you have luck sometimes not either way it’s always fun going crabbing !
This episode took some turns!
I'd consider not dying successful in that scenario!
I really enjoyed this video 😊
Good choice turning around
Beautiful videography. Background music is epic too.
always great background music in a JY video
Your mistake was attaching chicken to the outside of the cage. They didn't need to crawl inside to get at the chicken. Always only put it inside the bait box...
💯🐾 Great Footage awesome fire 🔥
The production is so good dude. I’m loving the music choices, therapeutic as fuck
Post more about the Tacoma. Love the videos
