I'm 67 and my friend in the same village is a little younger and a lorry driver. He take his knitting with him at work and has made a few hats for his colleagues and I use to take mine to work. Now I'm retired I knit, crochet and tri loom weave at home with my wife with a little help from our pets...Great way to relax and keep the mind active.
Mr. MacNeil I am a grandmother of 78, I was introduced to knitthing and crocheting by a man when my first baby was born. He is no longer with us, but every time I start either knitting of crochetting I thank him.
Awesome knitting work..so great to see a man knitting n crocheting..keep trucking n pushing those needles n hooks.I am a knitter n crocheter too. N a junkie to this craft..I keep 2 small balls of yarn n my tote bag ..one for knitting n other for crocheting on the bus n train n on a park bench too..I also play my oldies music while I'm knitting or crocheting..n my heart smiles ..i teach beginners to all for free too .❤❤❤❤
I love hearing from all the men who knit. I think Warren MacNeil should start doing knitting podcasts! He would be so interesting. His work is simply stunning.
way to go Warren NacNeil !!! I am a male who taught himself how to crochet & knit via the youtube videos … I really enjoy it and find it relaxing and meditative at times … I learn something new every day on youtube … … I still consider myself a "closet" crocheter/knitter because I only do this at home … and find that there are many persons who still label you as if knitting and crocheting would diminish your masculinity … we still have a long way to go before we evolve and get out of that mentality
+theHookdude west I am a 60 year old grandmother. I have been doing a bit of volunteering at our local public school, teaching the kids to crochet. (I am trying to teach myself to knit, so that I can teach one of the girls who is having trouble) Many of the boys catch on quicker than the girls but drop out when they are teased. I try to tell them that it is not just a girls hobby and that I read in a book that crochet was developed by the wife of a fisherman who was mending his nets with a hook. Women actually stole this art form and made it their own. It would be so great if more of the boys would stick with the crochet/knit arts. They pick it up so naturally and it is very calming. If anything, it strengthens the wrists. ;)
I crochet and also thought myself w/o any videos or anyone to teach me. I learned when I was a kid all on my own and still do it now. I never care what people think or say about me so I do it whenever I want and where I want.
Think of the old days. Most men were knitters and textile artists. If you look into history, you'll notice most esteemed tailors and fiber artists were men. Don't let some silly taboo that should have never existed stop you from enjoying what you love.
Great Job Warren... I am a guy and I personally dont like to knit sweaters or hats, I love to knit socks and I dont care what the people say.. I am not going to please anybody, this brings me a lot of gratification and happiness.....
Follow your heart not what other people says ,be strong keep doing you good work love it to see man doing wonderful works . You are a inspiration to many people .
Now THAT was a fun video to watch! I was wondering about the sweaters and if they were Norwegian influences my question was answered! Just getting back into knitting. I crochet a LOT😆🤪 Taught myself at 7 just looking and examining the pictures. Back then, no such creation as internet. Thank You for sharing and I love to see men crocheting and knitting I think it’s wonderful! And sometimes I see work that is amazing from both men and women. So who care! Just hook and needles til your hearts content!♥️🌹❣️
I knit and crochet, I call it my therapy, I went through a messy divorce, and was having a hard time adjusting, my doctor advised me to get a hobby, so, I started with hats, I donated them to children's homes throughout Louisville, I am working on scarves now for friends . I recently made a afghan, which I crochet, my biggest project. Its a very relaxing hobby and I get a lot of satisfaction making things for friends.
you are absolutely amazing I have been knitting for several years now and still can't seem to use dpns other then closing up a hat on sixteen inch circs. have started using the magic loop method lately and like that quite well. love the innovating way you came up with traveling with dpns! you have a great smile keep it up! Linda McNeely
Way to go Warren! I think it is awesome that you and many other men knit! I appreciate a mans perspective on things and I find men to be a great help of insight to see things in a different light sometimes. I applaud ALL men who love to knit. :)
Thanks for sharing Warren. I'm a man knitter and color knitter from Ontario. Taught all my boys to knit, but they didn't get the knitting bug like dad, haha. Trying to add more 'men knitters' on my FB profile, but couldn't find you. I'm setting up a new knitting blog, but can't post that here I don't think. Looking to correspond with knitters, men or women from around the world. Cheerzz....RJ
I think knitting or crochet is a form of relaxation to a hectic day at work. Who care what other people think, you don't need to be a female to learn how to sew, knit or cook. Great Job, Warren .....love your sweater...i only know how to knit a scarf LOL maybe one day I will progress to a beanie.... Happy New Year
There are many in shops here in Germany, the most of them come from knih pics, knitter's pride, or, the cheapsones , coming without branding from china. I make mine out of coke - closing - caps. I heaten them, give them the right form and dremel some holes into them. A bigger gum of 10 cm/2,4 inches, each side a knot, ready to go! I made them for all my friends, it's great and no trouble to fabric them. Didn't want to spend 10 bucks or more if l could do it for myself. You can use the caps of all that's platic. I made some by cotton. Made 2 tiny „hats“ and sew a gum - stripe at it. Works great! But: That man here is fenomenous, absolutely great! Be lessed!
My husband is a knitter too. When I saw this I thought, gee that looks a lot like Blazing Needles, but what are the chances???? Then I saw the credits! Woo Woo me! We live down in Payson, you're welcome to come to our knit night anytime!
Amazing. I know sewing along with Carpenters, knitting and crocheting take a lot of measuring, counting and just plain skill to be able to make these beautiful things. They are all Craftsman and craft women. Skilled at what they do.
Awesome, I love hearing about male knitters... and look at all that yummy yarn in the background! I tried to teach my son to knit so he could be a super cool knitting pre-teen and maybe start a new trend amongst his friends. ;-) He's not real good at it yet but we'll keep trying.
Love it! The first woollen sweater is a standard norwegian pattern called Setesdal, just FYI ;) I knit like its going out of fashion (which it never will!) :D
Great job!! I'm a male knitter, as well, and have been knitting since in the 3rd grade. I'm 49 now and also LOVE knitting socks (regular and argyle), sweaters, scarves and afghans. Love your double point needle holder invention. I could use that! Are they for sale? Keep up the great work! David
How fun is this That scarf is now done. Gave it to my boyfriend for his birthday earlier this month. I'm now on a second one, same type of bumpy yarn, but a different color and thinner needles (size 6). It will be for my sister. I've noticed that with the smaller needles, the yarn has less drape, it's more sturdy with a firmer shape. Of course, with the smaller needles, the scarf is building up slower than the size 8 needles did for the other scarf.
It is very difficult to knit with multiple colour yarn, there is special technique to join ,for me the biggest challenge are tangled yarns,I am going for smaller section of the sweater and for the rest I am knitting some “neutral “ pattern in the main collar, those sweaters are very warm since there is double yarn, he did great job, I admire his patience 👍
blazing needles you say! I want some of those. Though I am not a man, I might possibly be able to man-handle a good pair of needles...if they're the blazing kind. thank you so much for sharing and have a lovely day
I believe men were the first knitters. The shepherds in the field knit while watching their sheep. I read somewhere Middle Eastern men would also knit as they traveled on their horses and camels. Keep up the good work.
Warren, your work is beautiful ! That sweater is amazing. I hope you are selling the DPN holders. Where can I find those? I really enjoyed the video. Cheers from Woodstock, Georgia.
Great that you knit. Back in the day it was men who knit their fishing nets.
I'm 67 and my friend in the same village is a little younger and a lorry driver. Love seeing men knitting. Knitting helped me recover from heart surgery.
Now there's a great guy who is really comfortable with himself and what he finds fulfilling. A true manly inspiration! Nice one Warren.
Mr. MacNeil I am a grandmother of 78, I was introduced to knitthing and crocheting by a man when my first baby was born. He is no longer with us, but every time I start either knitting of crochetting I thank him.
Knitting and crocheting are so therapeutic.

Taught my 9 year old nephew to crochet last week. Times are changing. Love what you have to say.❤️
Think of the old days. Most men were knitters and textile artists. If you look into history, you'll notice most esteemed tailors and fiber artists were men. Don't let some silly taboo that should have never existed stop you from enjoying what you love.
My mom showed me how to knit over 45 years ago and I'm still enjoying it !
Glad to see a great hobby is enjoyed by many people.

Knitting help to rehabilitate me from a stroke, that affected my left side.
Absolutely love how many men actually knit

Love to knit - I am in the process of quitting smoking (4 months) and knitting keeps my hands busy and relaxes me.

Yes! You get them without gum stripes by Clover etc for 4 to 5 bucks, only Addi wants 10$. But his idea is great, too!

Knitting is very therapeutic and relaxing. I've just watched three videos about men who knit. They are all way more talented than me!
Get a patent on that needle holder (if someone hasn't thought of it yet).

We live down in Payson, you're welcome to come to our knit night anytime!
I like knitting socks too-portable, usually need only 1 skein, great gifts. It is relaxing & back in the day only men were permitted to knit.
Amazing. I know sewing along with Carpenters, knitting and crocheting take a lot of measuring, counting and just plain skill to be able to make these beautiful things. They are all Craftsman and craft women. Skilled at what they do.
You are an excellent knitter....fantastic!!

Brilliant, and where can we buy your needle stopper.
Back in the day men were taught to knit in the army in Scotland and they made their own socks. My uncles made my sweaters.
I love men knitters, even better when they can do it without disrespecting women.
