I'm not sure why you would think that he would be an awesome surgeon just because he likes crochet. His crocheting method seems to involve racing along at top speed fumbling with shaky hands feeling impatiently for the right spot. His hands visibly shake. He seems to be full of nervous energy and he's using his crochet as a creative outlet for that. He's clearly found a hobby he loves, and that's great. Crochet and surgery are not the same thing. Surgeons need to be cool headed and extremely precise and careful and deliberate. No fumbling around with shaky hands. He's still just a young boy so time will tell what he really wants to be when he grows up and whether or not he will grow out of his nervous energy. Children change their minds all the time about what they want to be in the future.
@@anneonimous9306 - I've shown this video to several friends of mine, many of whom knit and crochet - they all said his hands were steady and his speed is due primarily to his technique and the sheer volume of projects that he completes. By crocheting, he's also developing the dexterity, fine motor function, hand strength, and stamina that a surgeon requires in order to be successful at his craft.
Lois Antonelli google how to read a crochet pattern. Then get a pattern for something simple and follow it like a recipe. If it says chain 20 first, then chain 20. Then do what it says.'next. Keep following it each sentence do what it says. You’ll get there!
My heart is for his mother. He's very lucky to have someone love him as much as she does to especially let him crochet . You don't find many men or boys doing this kind of hobby. God Bless her for letting him be who he is. She will always be loved and Blessed. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Omg! Being a mom of 3 myself I am in tears with pride for him 🤗 I wish him all his dreams to come true and a life full of love, health, happiness and many, many more wonderful memories to come. Michelle💖
What an amazing kid! I love to crochet and have been doing it since I was little, but I cannot sit and carry on a conversation without looking at my work the way he did.
I just wanted to say, this story warmed my heart and brought a tear (the happy kind) to my eye. It's beyond wonderful to see such enthusiasm for a craft (and life in general) and wisdom from beyond the ages in a child like him. I know he'll go very far in life, and already has gone such a long way from such humble beginnings. I bet someday, when he's a doctor, he'll be known as "Dr. Crotchet", or something along those lines.
He does have the personality & dexterity of a surgeon, not to mention the smarts. (RN who worked with surgeons) Jonah, I too was an orphan adopted at 5 months old but long before you! Gonna practice my knitting speed, you inspire me.
I learned from my grandmother when I was 8. It took me a few years to finally create my own pattern. Jonah is sitting there create trends with his patterns. Good on ya Jonah. Keep up the good work.
What an inspiration...so beautiful!!! I fell inlove with him the minute he said how lucky was...what a blessing! And thank you for saving him from torment...he is a blessing to all!
Jonah, you are amazing!! Such a sweet young man!! Thank you Jennifer for adopting him & giving him a safe, happy home. Your story made me cry because so many young children from war ravaged countries do not have a chance to excel, let alone eat, sleep or play. He is a light in this World of hatred & greed. He wants to help others & spread love. Keep teaching us, Jonah, how to be better people!!
What a wonderful, unselfish attitude this lovely young man has got. I’m sure I’m amongst many who wish him well. May the angels forever watch over you.
So proud of you Jonah & your parents too. Very respectable young kid & humble mother. All kids are a gift & have a gift, we as parents just have to help them find it.
Jonah is a PRODIGY. There is no limit to what he can do. It takes a lot of smarts and focus to work in crochet and knitting. Keep up the great work, Jonah!!!!
I love this kid. Been doing this for years, longer than his life! And I still can’t be as good as he is. He is so awesome!!!! And his story is absolutely heart warming.
I'm impressed that he took to crochet which is tougher than knitting, in my opinion because you must pay attention to each stitch carefully and where it goes. I struggle with crochet but I'm at ease with knitting 😊 I'm glad he's doing something that makes him happy LOL I too get up early and knit and my partner wanders into the living room and there I am clicking away 😁 it's excellent for my Autism, ADHD Bipolar Disorder
I was 3 when I learned to KNIT. My mother and I spent many a wonderful time together knitting. Then I learned to crochet and it is the single, most beneficial pastime in the world next to reading. It is relaxing, creative and keeps the mind occupied and away from evil thoughts and self pity. I wish EVERYONE would try it and see for themselves. It's challenging at first but once the basics are learned it is the most rewarding thing a person can do and encourages patience and self discipline. Well done young man.
I love this kid. My grandma taught me to crochet when I was maybe 6 years old and I adored it! Good for him that he has something he loves and can enjoy and be proud of💕
How people can dislike that such talent inspired kid! I think they watched this video upside down for sure. God bless Jonah and your lovely family endid ❤❤👏👏👏😗
I have taught many kids how to knit and/or crochet...it's a natural thing for me to do...I pick up extra hooks n yarn at garage sales n reuse shops..so as I teach them...I can give them a hook or needles n yarn to take home
Welcome to the life as a crocheting, I started at the age of five my mother was a factory crocker, ant his is how I learned to crochet , I am 68 now and I crocker as much as I can , keep up the good work and love life and your family you are one of a kind .
Ive been crocheting since i was 7 but i never did the amazing work this young man has done!! He is truly gifted and very special. I wish him great life.
AWESOME!!!!! I taught my grandson how to knit and crochet when he was 8 years old and I have worn everything he made me with "pride" !!! You are a surely amazing young man !!!
He already has great things happening in his life. God blessed him. I too had learned from TH-cam. Why I crochet is i'm vary sick and I have arthritis and I'm only 46. So I crochet becouse of me hands in alot of pain. So I figured out on TH-cam they show you for free. My favorite yarn is lion brand. The yarn is so soft and easy to work with. I don't crochet fast. I have to take alot of breaks becouse my body really starts to hurt but its vary rewarding when you finish an item that you've done all on your own. That's what I love about making items. Happy crocheting everyone. If you don't know how look it up on TH-cam. God bless you all.
What an amazing gift he has. I learn to crochet when I was about 9yrs old. Most five-year-olds have no attention span whatsoever. For this little guy being able to concentrate. It's truly surprising how a 4 or 5 yr old can accomplish a project like this. It's a miracle in itself. But you can see he is some type of a prodigy. I want to learn how to crochet like him. 💖😍
I was seven when an auntie gave me a hook and some crochet cotton, and told me to go make a doily and get out of her hair. She also gave me one of those little doily booklets (vintage now) so I looked at the diagrams and by suppertime I'd gotten a couple of shaky-looking rounds done. It was so fascinating, I've never looked back and I'm 63 now. I eventually finished that doily and my aunt bought me a set of my own crochet hooks. I still have them. All children should be allowed to try various crafts and see what they like to do to create.
He is an inspiration for adults, for kids and for the arts. So great to witness his life journey become that of a success story. So much he has accomplished thus far.
Omg ! What an inspiration this young man is we need more like him in this word , such a great talent you are truly blessed , thank you and thank God for you !
You're a blessed young man Jonah. I see you on the Crochet Crowd stitch social group and you amaze me with your talents. And Mom, great job raising a polite, kind young man!
What a very clever and talented young man who has done so much in such a short space of time, he obviously loves what he does and his parents must be so proud. Congratulations and god bless you all.
He will be an awesome surgeon. Just imagine what his stitching would be like . What an amazing young man.

Sarah Glynn I was thinking the same thing what an awesome beautiful child !

Exactly!!
Gerrie Louden Bell Thank you so much for your kind advice, it has been very helpful
I can read patterns but I can’t understand some of it also. That’s why I mostly watch videos on how to crochet things
