I can’t get over how talented this whole group is. Every single one of them are amazing.
They are absolutely brilliant!
Had a call to my office, your Dad just died. Jumped in the car 70 mile journey, 1st on my radio, this. So poignant to my relationship with him. Life is short treasure each moment good and bad.
Losing Dad is very hard, hang on tight to the memories. Draw those who knew him close. Talking and recalling good times eases the pain a bit.
Heard this song on the radio knew my Grandmother was dying
She held out until my Mom and I arrived
I am on the very same page with you. I KNOW this feeling.
Magnificent 😊
At 53 years old and hardened by life, I messaged my father after listening to this cover and told him I loved him and mum - that's the power of music - thank you HSCC
🙏🙏🙏
My father and I had a difficult relationship to put it very mildly. This song always reminds me of that relationship. I played it on a tape recorder at his funeral. I hope his soul heard it. I will always shed a tear when I hear this song. It is so impactful that I can't listen to it in its entirety. Music does that to me.
I WAS there the morning my father passed away. He was on life support. He was breathing, there was a pulse.... but he was really dead. I tried to wake him up but that effort failed. I will NEVER forget that day for the rest of my life.
Sa,e here !!😢
When this was originally released I had just lost my father, knowing the background to the song and having many similarities in my life to Mikes this song really struck a personal chord. Thank you thank you thank you to all of you in HSCC especially the talented Constantine for his arrangement of what can only be described as a classic.
I have missed the talent of Daniel for the past month or more but can always be sure whatever he sings is gold.....as the same goes for Con 'n Crew....all blistering with talent !!🦘🇦🇺👍❤️
Was thinking same thing. My father had just passed away in the morning like the song. Still brings me back to those days
@@chadochocincofan85 The same for me. I sat beside my father's bed as he passed and these same thoughts came into my head; things left unsaid and never really getting to understand him.
I feel for you, my father died in 1991 when I was just 12 and this song meant so much to me also... kind of haunting.
It was released when I had been living in the UK for a year, doing the Aussie working holiday thing. My sister came to visit, and it came on the radio as I was driving her around. I almost crashed the car, with the tears in my eyes! We had, let's say, a complicated relationship with him. But at the back of my mind was that fear - what if something happened while I was away?
Wow, 40yrs ago next month my dad died in Scotland,, I was living in Australia and didn't make it back to UK before he passed,,, this song always takes me back there,,, "wasn't there the morning my father passed away,, didn't get to tell him all the things I had to say",,,,,,, the whole song is so poignant 👍🏴
We don't look for old songs, we look for memories they bring. Love this!
Now think of the songs you’ve cherished, living in another world,🎉😢😮
Hi Guys All I can stay I’ve been watching your videos for a long time
Your simple the BEST cover band full stop
From Kiss to George Michael, Foreigner, there is nothing Danny cannot sing. This is BRILLIANT!
He is good!
There is absolutely no reason anyone on earth should be that gifted. I'm shocked he's not more popular
Totally agree. Glad he shares his gift.
True
Covers are not brilliant. It's much easier to copy what some other great singer created. Creating one yourself, however, is not. He isn't diverging from the original much.
Crying Standing Ovation to All !! Just when I dried my eyes, the chorus came in with the backing vocals. Phenomenal Performance, so many memories. To the Group, Thanks!
Great comment 😊
@@Nan-1017 I was going to say something about the performance, but 1"Coverologist" said it better. So I thought I'd commend his comment, but then you came along with yours, so I have nothing to say.
@@bxf99999 well, yours is a sweet comment too🌷
You put in words what I was feeling..
I think this is better than the original.
Paul Carrack is clapping!!! Mike Rutherford is smiling for the justice done to this amazing tune... well done!
One of my favourite songs and HSCC (as usual) have done an amazing cover version. What a superbly talented group of musicians. Thank you all.
This is among the best you have done lately. Danny nails the lead, the back up vocals are dead nut perfect, and the musicians are spot on. Gave me goose bumps. I am 64, lost my Dad when I was 23. He missed seeing his first grandson by 6 months.
Were were tight, but this song really has a message...time goes by faster than you think. There is no fixing problems once one of you is gone. If there is someone you love who you know you need to reach out to, even if you have some disagreement, do it. Make the effort. Offer the olive branch to at least start trying to fix whatever is wrong.
Try...if you are met with a closed door, or a closed mind, try again later. If you need to forgive find it in your heart to do so.
Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us...as REO Speedwagon said, Live every moment, love every day, because before you know it, your precious time slips away..
Sorry for the rant...it just came out....
🙏🙏
Beautiful story
This ⬆️
I lost my dad a month ago and everything you said is bang on the money.
Fortunately, I had a great relationship with my dad but there was things I still wish I'd said to him before he died.
You can rant like that any time you wish. Brilliant!
That song has such an emotional connection for so many people. Watching 11 people “get in the zone” the way they did, tells me the band felt that emotion. Dan is always on his game, but he was absolutely dialed in for this one and he appeared to connect with the song on some level-and it was a joy to watch. The backing vocals were incredible and Cons arrangement was brilliant. We got to see a different side of the HSCC tonight and it confirmed what I’ve known for a while….not only is this band filled with some of the most talented musicians on the planet, more importantly, it’s filled with some of the finest people on the planet.
All our love to you from our HSCC Family to yours Sir 🙏🙏❤️❤️
so true....
It's amazing that such "Stars" like Cat and Con can step in the background to make the song even better. Real pro's
Agreed, vocals were very strong on this song.
Close your eyes and you’d think it was Carrack singing it and the Rutherford sound from the guitar is faultless!
I absolutely love this!!!!
Stumbled upon this band while browsing facebook reels............now I`m hooked!! Amazing talent in every member. The harmonies are out of this world.
Ditto...found them last eve...got little sleep watching way too many of their 80's classics... so amazing...like this song. Just sent it to my wife of 39 years. Memories.....
OMG! I so missed Mr. Lopresto's healing voice! Makes me happy! This was so heartfelt. Thank you HSCC!!❤
I miss Pina. It sucks Pina is longer with HSCC.
@@legendaryTMNICO OMG 😱Pina left the HSCC 😭 I read your words and had a look to the homepage and noticed, Pina has gone. My favorite Singer! were is she now, an other Band? I´m so sad about that.
Yes, idk Y they have anyone else sing ... Lopresto should be the vocalist on Every song they do .... just because a certain someone finances these recordings does not mean he should sing in Dan's place ....
A rich, full cover of one of my favourite songs of all time. A song deep in meaning and message. Well done to all! Just beautiful. Thank you!!
My own father died in 2012, aged 93 years. He was a WWII Wellington bomber pilot and a hero (saved a plane and its crew though never spoke a word about it). My mother was bi-polar most of her adult life and bedridden with depression, so my childhood was mixed, but my dad always did what he could to make up for it. He was blind the last 20 years of his life but well looked after by my step-mother. When visiting him one day, I held his hand, kissed him on the head and told him I loved him and that despite everything, I felt I had a happy childhood. His eyes misted up but he said nothing and we just sat for a while in silence.
He passed just a few weeks later and it was indeed in a morning and I wasn't there. But I feel fortunate to have no regrets.
🙏🙏
Listen to that lead vocal!!!
Unbelievable!
I come back often to hear this!
I realize my 1st comment cheats this band.
Everyone is AMAZING!
But this particular lead blows me away!
I use to sing this!
But then I got old!
Who was the lead singer on the original? Was it Paul Carrick!
@@raymondmassie4898 yes, but spelled Carrack
This song is a lyrical masterpiece.
Paul Carrack is underrated as a vocalist, not getting the credit he deserves for some great interpretations of emotional lyrics like this. Danny, your interpretation is fantastic, well done! Great arrangement too! HSCC keeps on killing it. 👍👍👍
So true..he is so wonderful both as a songwriter and singer.
Awesome, missed his wonderful vocals the last few weeks
I purely loved and still love this song and band! I believe it is one of the most touching and beautiful songs ever performed and written. Can't ever listen to this song without being brought to tears.awesome awesome harmonies and talent! Loretto is magnificent!
This really game me so many emotions. As always your performance incredible.
I lost my Dad in 1978 two days after christmas. He had no signs of illness as I laughed with him not knowing that 15 minutes later he would be dead. I wasn't there when he died that morning. I wish I had told him many things..........
Thank you for your interpretation of a great song.
*OH MAN....This made me cry a lot as a young boy who idolized his Dad. I've TOLD him that I love and am incredibly grateful for him over these living years, through cancer and back. I'm more lucky to still have him than I even realize at my age of nearly 47. AMAZING job.*
Great words Jeff👍
Holy Schitt... HSCC is at its best but Danny... OMG... He blew me away with this. Definitely one of, if not his finest ever. Freakin' Amazing !!!!
Take a bow guys, what an amazing embarrassment of top talent on show here, just brilliant!
Hits me every time I hear it ! Almost 16 when my dad died ! Would have loved to have known him and spoke to him as a man and not a child
Danny take a bow. That was truly outstanding vocally! Bravo 👏👏👏👏
Sounds just as good live. Went to the Newcastle Civic Centre on Thursday night. They are a fantastic live band. Mind you the blond is VERY pregnant .❤
@@oldmanriver1955just saw them in Canberra..echo every word you said 👍👍
One of the most powerful and emotional songs ever released. Nailed by HSCC
One of the most emotional songs ever written. A perfect rendition from the start to finish in every way, from the vocals, through the musicianship to the production. Tear-in-the-eye time
Correcting myself. The ENTIRE band is EXTRAORDINARY. First heard this song by Mike & the Mechanics. Cried when I heard it. My Dad and I weren't gerring along. This song woke me the F*Ck up!! Wanted to get things right before he passed away. So, we were VERY good for the 2 years before he passed. If not for this song. I would have regretted our relationship for the rest of my life. Instead, we're both at peace. Thanks for this cover!! ❤
In the last 15 months i've lost my 3 aunties, an uncle, and my dear father. Hold your loved ones tight everybody and always let them know just how much you love and appreciate them because mark my words the time goes quicker than you could possibly imagine.
Lots of love HSCC. Beautifuly performed 😘
Danny! You owned that. So in the groove. Beautiful. Mike and the Mechanics perhaps one of the most underrated singer/songwriters. One my favs. I need to go see my dad now! ❤
Brilliant vocals. Thank you Danny. Makes me cry every time when I hear this song. My father died in my arms 37 years ago.
I'm hearing ya. I lost my mum suddenly on Aug 29. Saw these guys on the 14th Sept in Newcastle and he brought me to tears.
This Song is Very Touching and Very Emotional. Im Truly Sorry for The Loss of Your Parents. May the Lord be With You both in your time of Sorrow.
Для меня это звучит очень мелодраматично, но эй, кто я такой, чтобы говорить, если бы он это сделал.
On the back of what Jay said below, another subtle but really important aspect is Danny's diction. Not over the top, but focused on clarity. This is a man who sees a song as a means of communicating, which as a precious thing in itself, too often overlooked. Speaks to the quality of the team overall.
Phil 🙏🙏
I am in Belgium and my native language is French. I agree with you a thousand times, I add an excellent mix respecting the voices, the instruments and the song 😉
So beautiful choral with Danny leading vocals and of course HSCC is awesome as usual.👏👏🌺💝
I lost my father 7 years ago. Although we didn’t always agree on everything, I miss him so much every day. Thank you HSCC for such an awesome rendition of this song. Cheers to all of you!
I lost my father 13 years ago, would love another 10 minutes to talk about some of the stuff I never got to say
Very Good!! excellent;;and brilliant....;;😊😊🎶🎵🎹🎸🎤🎧
Wow! Know wonder even the original artists/writers of those songs say they are the best cover band in the world.
I have to say......goosebumps galore. This is the greatest cover band in the history of the world bar none. Going to a concert would be like attending twenty different venues all at once. With respect to the original artists the takeaway would be the same. Bravo!!
They're performing in Port Macquarie in a couple of weeks,
Nice to see Danny back again. Kudos to the whole gang, well done.
Very poignant song,it brings back memories!
so many videos on you tube yet I still come back to this one in amazement how incredibly epic it is IMO
Not many songs can stir this much emotions, great choice
Holy Crap, such a beautiful song sung to perfection by Danny Lopresto - so good you are back singing better than ever
This man's voice is simply astonishing he could truly sing the phone book & I would listen to every single note. The tone, the emotion. What incredible talent.
Danny you are really the best cover singer ive heard
the band and back up singers take a bow
Man, every single element of this performance and production was as good as it possible could have been. I didn't know that Danny had that particular voice within him. Fantastic!
Danny...you sang this so beautifully last night in Canberra. Hope you all return soon. Such a wonderful night ❤❤❤
I've only been listening to Danny's voice for the last 2 years thru HSCC. This is the best performance of a cover song I've ever heard from him.
Just beautiful. Fantastic job. Well done
Absolutely criminal that this classic never reached No. 1 in the UK. Most people can relate to these very powerful lyrics and HSCC you smashed this right out the park. Stunning version 😃
Got chills from the beginning 'til the end of the song... I always remember my grandfather when I listen to this song... 😢
Thats talent...the whole group not just the lead singer !
unbeliveable 😍😍😍😍😍😍 suuuuuuperb
Danny is just incredible/awesome. The rest of the crew deserve a shout too. Thank you
As usual, Daniel kills it. He continues to be a ray of light in an increasingly dark world. And nice action on the drums. Ten out of ten.
WOW!
Thanks SO much Mark.
Glad you enjoyed the performance 🙏

Hi Danny , I'm just a nobody who'd like to add my compliments to those above...man , you have some prodigious talent ! Every time I've seen you or heard your voice over the last 3 years, I'm a happy man. ...but this time you made me wanna blubber like a 3 year old and even for that I have to thank you !
Of course everything about this song is deeply touching but your soulful , REALLY soulful , rendition is exceptional .
PS , that grin of yours is worth a $1million Danny and we are all so glad you flash it so joyfully and so often .
Cheers mate
WOW!!
Thanks SO MUCH Gary for your kind words.
I’m sincerely touched.
I’m so glad that you enjoyed the performance & I was able to connect in some way.
It’s such a beautiful song with amazing lyrics.
I hope my interpretation does the original justice.
Thanks again mate…🙏
@@dannylopresto9438 , thanks so much for your reply Danny ! It's nice to be able to actually reach out and let someone know how their skills are appreciated.
You and all the guys associated with HSCC ( past and present 😉 ) deserve acknowledgement for your hard work and the joy you bring to so many ...to be able to do that, if only for 5 minutes, is a gift that we should all treasure.
Hope you have a beaut weekend and if you can, give your mum a hug from all of us , she deserves praise too.
Cheers mate.
I wish I could mate…
Again, thank YOU for your words.
Enjoy the weekend & hold your loved ones tight!
✌️😎
I have watched numerous videos by HSCC, but none better than this. Every last detail is on the mark.I think of my own father whenever I hear this song, and justice is extremely well served with this cover. Danny Lopresto's most powerful and passionate vocal to date! Keep up the great work!
Agreed
Yes . The appreciation for all the elements grows with every viewing and listening
I'm 53 years old and I can promise you I remember that song like it came out yesterday Water jobs that was just truly amazing everything was just beautiful
Even though my father is still very much alive and well, this song never fails to make me do a full ugly cry. When this was still new I was in elementary school and can remember singing it during a school choir and band concert. There wasn't a dry eye in the room after we finished performing the song. Such a tough one to listen to for countless people. That said, you all did a wonderful job covering it. Well done as always. ☺
Great words Breana, go give your father a great big hug, if mine was alive I would❤😊
@@glennkovacs1328 I will do that! My dad is going into his 70's, so he's not young. However he's still very much alive, still working (he's a teacher at the local high school) and is in great health. So hopefully he'll be around for many years to come!
That song was powerful when it first broke and now with HSCc’s version, it has even more meaning and power. Heed the words to this song brothers and sisters of the world. Nicely done HSCC!
Super Voice, Super Instrumental. - Greetings from East Germany.
Possibly one of your finest performances . A great group effort
Great job by all, but Danny, this is all YOU, man. One of your best vocals with HSCC to date.
For me, this is his best. Just beautiful Danny and the whole gang. 👏👏👏👏👏
Great cover of a great song by a great band. 😀😃😄😁
What a beautiful song, beautiful vocals, you guys are fantastic
Final chorus with 5 backing vocalists truly supporting Danny. Seemed effortless for the 5 to assume a humble role after so many great fronting efforts previously. This is a very touching song, and it moved me to tears with Danny's interpretation. Well done to all involved!
Brought me to tears Danny. Great job all of you.
The quality of this song can only be appreciated as your loved ones disappear of your presence. Perfect cover played deeply from the heart of the band members and well appreciated by the listeners ❤👏🏻
So true ❤
When I was a teen, this song was just a song I really liked, describing the complexities of losing your father. As a 54 year old who just lost his dad, and ultimately, his best friend...this is a gut punch of emotion. Not going to lie...I cried while watching this. The message of this song is now all too personal. Thank you HSCC for this performance.
🙏
I lost mine 3 yrs ago, you never get over it just learn to cope. God bless you.
You have to tell your Dad how much you love him and to thank him for all he did for you BEFORE it's too late. I managed to tell him
I feel you, same here such an emotional song to me - miss my father so much !!!
I sent this video to mine . I’m an 80s kid …. Never “ heard “ this song
Danny Lopresto for the win, again! What an outstanding voice that man has. Excellent arrangement and performance by all.
Take care and God Bless.
Words cannot express my admiration for the singers and musicians . This is top top drawer , all the best from the UK just keep doing it. . ❤
Also from the Netherlands.
3 months after my father passed. Always pulls my heart to this day. Thanks guys. Lovely job
How is Danny not a chart topping international superstar😮
#1 because he can't write his own music.
#2 because no one cares about music that isn't IN YOUR FACE anymore
#3 because talent like that is a dime a dozen - you can see on 'American Idol', or right here on TH-cam.
sad cynic
Grabbing an emotional and thoughtful song and making it your own is no easy task. Danny, you owned this one for sure. Loved the "true to the original" arrangement. The groove was nice but understated...the vocals giving it that mini-mass choir feel, along with the opening guitar lick...simple...but effective. Lots to like about this one.
Totally agree!
You're so eloquent Chris. A lot of viewers would have felt what you expressed, myself included. Thank You.
OH WOW! I am speechless listening to this song. I have always loved it but Danny I had goosebumps listening to you. The whole band , the girls harmonies, just everything about it. Thank you Con and all involved with this incredible band. Love you all!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Danny excellent voice! The band is very strong...
incredible, keep it up, greetings from Germany! :-)
Goosebumps on that final chorus! Great vocals- lead and background! Thanks so much!
Danny that was such a moving performance. Congrats all.
i think I like this more than the original. Outstanding job.
This was such an epic song. Emotional and sweet. Perfectly played. This is what we are missing today.
Welcome back Mr. Lopresto, another awesome cover from the team. Cudos to all,
Lead vocals is killing it! Spot on@@
Great songs, brilliantly done.
This song came on the car radio on the way to my fathers funeral. There is a higher power!
Carefully listened to this a number of times now & honestly, it's sublime.
If you guys had sang it originally, it would have been equally as big world wide as Mike's version.
I'm slowly going through more of your performances 😊
Chanson déchirante. "Le chagrin est le prix de l'amour". J'aime la version originale, mais celle-ci est simplement magnifique. Musiciens, chanteuses et chanteurs vous êtes méga talentueux.Bravo👏👏👏👏et merci.
Paul Carrick no 2 absolutely brilliant such a great band love all of you.❤
This song always hit home to me growing up. I have to compliment the entire group for such a well balanced, well engineered, and subtle but powerful performance. Well done group!
G to
Another amazing performance. The band that never disappoints.
This is more of a tribute than a cover, the singer does such a great job.
I saw Mike and the Mechanics on their US tour in 1989. Opened with this tune... not a dry eye in the house. This cover is every bit as good - Dan Lopresto's vocals and emotion really do justice to Paul Carrack's original
Absolutely as good as the original .👍
Wonderful to see Mr. Lopresto again. It’s always a joy to hear him sing basically anything 👏🏾👏🏾. Very poignant and personally thought provoking song. HAPPY HSCC THURSDAY EVERYONE!!!! 🎊🎉🎊🎉
What a talent this band is! Can you nail a song any more than they did? Incredible sound and feeling delivered through the entire song...Close your eyes and enjoy.
I hope someday you all come to the USA and perform.....I'll be in the front row for sure.
Great job on this song....one of my favs! Danny rocks!...and Jake, you are one lucky guy! Luv Kat!!
Believe they have recently signed with a U.S. recording Company and DO plan to tour.
Danny, the man, the myth the legend!! outstanding performance.
Fabulous - thank you again. 🙂🇬🇧
