    Mostly agree with the tier list. As a new player, the stormcasts' ease of painting is heavily countered by range bloat and their visual sameness obscures which belong to what sub faction. I'd have to knock them down a tier to high A rank. Seraphon have options, but everything is visually intuitive so that a new player doesn't need to see a warscroll to know skinks are skirmishers, for instance. I think nighthaunt are one step above the Seraphon, since they're even simpler to paint. Almost everything is an invisible man in a burlap sack.

    I'd rate stormcast lower. easy to paint sure, but too many units to choose from, which is overwhelming for new players, and they're updated too often, by the time a new player gets a 2k army together there will be half an army of new stormcast units out and the right units to play with will have changed completely.

      Very good points and something we didn't consider, I think it's very difficult to get anything like this right with the ever evolving hobby we have and of course so many different things to consider and we are all different in what we look for in an army.

      They're also very difficult to play decently tbh

      The book bloat is definitely a negative which might masquerade as a positive for new players that aren't familiar with GW games

      Really tough army to play well, and have to be really careful with low model count.

      Actually the models are very specific for what they do. They should do okay in any meta. I’ve painted 2 stormcast and a box of kruelboyz

    Thanks for the vid! My first AoS army is Seraphon and I'm doing a little research for my second. Very likely to choose Ossiarch Bonereapers.

      Nah man, it's totally Gitz, they have a stoner unit that gets worse the more sober it is, if you can't have fun with a unit like that, you really have a stick somewhere it doesn't belong lol

      Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the aos community, I'd definitely go with your heart on which army you like the look of over anything else, the points in the video are just something else to potentially consider. Bonereapers are deffo a lot of fun

    Soulblight were my first this year and i got into them right as the new book came. It was pretty tough to learn the rules along with learning the army. But i mean hey if you're new and vampires are your thing. DEFINITELY pick them over playing an easier army. Legion of night and blood are tons of fun.
    EDIT (I started in 2023 i forgot its alright February 2024 lmao)

      By first this year do you mean first army ever? If so, welcome to the hobby if not, still welcome...For any new player I'd always say go with your heart over what's easiest to get into but I think it's always worth figuring out all of the pros and cons if you are someone who is torn between armies.

    SCE are an easy army in order to learn the rules, not at all the easiest in order to play and win against competitive list, lot of 2nd hand and easier model to collect are actually BAD, every battleline are low-grades ones, the only easy part is that they don't need a lot of augmentations. but what part is difficult into IDK a part placing your army wisely ? the gameplay is always the same, at 3rd push the buton and execute order 66. NH are really easier to play : just huge a death star, the spells sequence are strait forward like a lot of army in the game same. In SCE, lot of units are noob traps to collect.

    • @dazmaulwargaming
      @dazmaulwargaming  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment.... with stormcast how competitive or good the warscrolls are wasn't much of a consideration.... just purely ease to get hold of cheaply, quite easy to build and paint, robust for transporting and very forgiving as a base warscroll goes... as for idk, I always found them fragile a d quite highly detailed for total noob, I feel that mistakes in game punish you quite hard with them too and I'd consider tge deployment game as a more advanced thing that you'd pick up and perfect later after learning the basic game and army mechanics... I think the main thing is always go with your heart on an army than just what's easiest to get into as it's quite subjective and opinions will deffo vary.

    I don't understand your justifaction for Cities of sigmar being D tier but Stormcast being S? They're both humans in armour. Are they not both very similar to paint?

    • @dazmaulwargaming
      @dazmaulwargaming  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cities minis (newer ones in particular) are generally smaller in scale and more detailed so makes them hypothetically harder to paint whereas stormcast could be done in a spray and a wash, stormcast model range is more readily available for cheap prices on the second hand market due to being in starter sets and magazines, Cities range is extremely vast with a lot of older model ranges which could be confusing to a complete noob and stormcast generally are a good mix of Power output and resilience allowing the player to make learning mistakes and it not cost them the game whereas Cities are more fragile and mistakes generally could be more costly.... just a few things we discussed about the 2 factions

    Why are there never time stamps on these types of videos. Can you not edit stamps so I dont have to listen to endless talk about armies I'm not interested in.

    • @dazmaulwargaming
      @dazmaulwargaming  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Time stamps is definitely something that can be done but it for us it goes against what the video is trying to achieve, as the video is aimed at beginners picking a first army or someone less experienced picking a new army the only real benefit to that person is to watch the whole video.
