When I was 16 I rebelled against my parents. I smoked weed and drank vodka at house parties with my friends. I would come home, beat up and hungover, in the early hours of the morning. And I will never forget this one day, coming in through the front door. My mom did not yell and berate me the way she was so prone to do. She quietly looked down upon me, wondering where she went wrong. Some seconds passed, and her eyebrows drew together, and I will never forget what she said with empathy and compassion and concern obvious in her voice. She said, “they are ruining my daughter, my beautiful daughter’s face is being ruined”. She had moved here from Korea to have her children at 20 years old. There was a language barrier, and these are the words she could find to express her sadness, but in those simplistic words she had expressed so purely what she saw happening to me. When I looked in the mirror I saw that she was right, I was pale, unkempt, with cold and faraway eyes. Her healthy daughter had become like an addict or a homeless person, looking sick and uncared for, because of the party lifestyle she was addicted to. When men try to become women, ignoring Mother Nature, I see the same thing happening. The healthy and natural body is torn apart and mutilated to match and unattainable desire that it can never truly mirror. The pursuant of that lifestyle becomes lost in the slow change of that addiction, and loses sight of the whole image. A mutilated, torn, broken, and confused picture of someone who wanted something unattainable and recklessly shattered the parts of them that had nothing wrong with them, nothing needing to be fixed, but for the fact that it simply was a penis and not a vagina. I wonder, if their mother could have that moment with them, with real concern and a broken heart overflowing in their voice, whispering, “they have ruined you, you were beautiful, it’s all ruined,” if they could have the humility to look in the mirror, for the sake of the truth, like I did, and see that it was true. Probably not. And worse, so many mothers are also looking at their sons with rose colored glasses, choosing not to see reality, to reaffirm the lie. For the sake of tolerance, for the sake of supporting whatever that person wants. I am so lucky, when I was drugging and partying, when that destructive life was all I wanted, that my mother was a good mother, and cared about my health, and did not care what I wanted.

This is my solely personal experience with the use of the words "gender" and "sex". When I was young sex was a dirty word and may initiate unpleasant conversations. So we use the word gender in place of the word sex . Two words, same meaning, two sexes, two genders. Male and female

What makes it dirty is people abusing sex in the first place, but that is about individuals corrupting something and not the natural state. Biological sex, shortened to the noun sex, refers to male or female, or the role the body plays in reproduction. Males fertilize, females incubate. Sexual intercourse, shortened to sex the verb, is the act that leads to fertilization. Neither sex the verb or sex the noun are bad! Stop giving children complexes and feeling guilty about their own bodies (another gift from God)! Instead, teach respect and love and responsibility. And as for gender and sex? I apologize if this has already been brought up. I understand the contention that there has to be a specific definition of what a woman is. However, if that definition is purely a biological one, how does that explain the gendering of God and spirit creatures in general. The Bible clearly genders God, and several specific angels as male. Yet, I’m assuming, this can’t be a biological gendering, since they are spirit people not made of flesh and blood. When I was 16 I rebelled against my parents. I smoked weed and drank vodka at house parties with my friends. I would come home, beat up and hungover, in the early hours of the morning. And I will never forget this one day, coming in through the front door. My mom did not yell and berate me the way she was so prone to do. She quietly looked down upon me, wondering where she went wrong. Some seconds passed, and her eyebrows drew together, and I will never forget what she said with empathy and compassion and concern obvious in her voice. She said, “they are ruining my daughter, my beautiful daughter’s face is being ruined”. She had moved here from Korea to have her children at 20 years old. There was a language barrier, and these are the words she could find to express her sadness, but in those simplistic words she had expressed so purely what she saw happening to me.
When I looked in the mirror I saw that she was right, I was pale, unkempt, with cold and faraway eyes. Her healthy daughter had become like an addict or a homeless person, looking sick and uncared for, because of the party lifestyle she was addicted to.
When men try to become women, ignoring Mother Nature, I see the same thing happening. The healthy and natural body is torn apart and mutilated to match and unattainable desire that it can never truly mirror. The pursuant of that lifestyle becomes lost in the slow change of that addiction, and loses sight of the whole image. A mutilated, torn, broken, and confused picture of someone who wanted something unattainable and recklessly shattered the parts of them that had nothing wrong with them, nothing needing to be fixed, but for the fact that it simply was a penis and not a vagina.
I wonder, if their mother could have that moment with them, with real concern and a broken heart overflowing in their voice, whispering, “they have ruined you, you were beautiful, it’s all ruined,” if they could have the humility to look in the mirror, for the sake of the truth, like I did, and see that it was true. Probably not. And worse, so many mothers are also looking at their sons with rose colored glasses, choosing not to see reality, to reaffirm the lie. For the sake of tolerance, for the sake of supporting whatever that person wants.
I am so lucky, when I was drugging and partying, when that destructive life was all I wanted, that my mother was a good mother, and cared about my health, and did not care what I wanted.

This is my solely personal experience with the use of the words "gender" and "sex". When I was young sex was a dirty word and may initiate unpleasant conversations. So we use the word gender in place of the word sex . Two words, same meaning, two sexes, two genders. Male and female

Gender is most closely like a sex based personality, like the Meyer's-Briggs tests that were big a few years ago. ENFJ or ISTP? How about Vixen for the females and Playboy for the males? Wallflower and Nerd? Tomboy vs Femboy? Gender is rooted in sex, the same way the model of a car is based on the make.
Grow up and let gender and sex be their own things. If they were synonyms then 7 year old me wouldn't have asked my teachers about in back in the 90s when we were discussing the Amendments on a wall mural. EOE wouldn't need to specify both sex and gender if they were the same thing. Oh, and again, keeping sex as biological and gender as a behavior profile would automatically close any and all arguments about trans in women's activities. Make it bio-sex only. End of story.

Your reasoning regarding sex vs. gender distinctions is simply a strawman. No one denies that there are biological differences between male and female. What is denied by those who make a distinction between sex and gender is that facts about gender are entirely grounded in facts about biology. Saying “trans women are women” does not erase the distinction between sex and gender as you claim, because those who think there *is* a distinction deny that “woman” is a biological kind to begin with.
If you want to argue that “woman” ought to be understood as a biological kind you are welcome to do so, but the way you present the issue her completely misrepresents what those who make a distinction between sex and gender actually say on this matter.

I apologize if this has already been brought up. I understand the contention that there has to be a specific definition of what a woman is. However, if that definition is purely a biological one, how does that explain the gendering of God and spirit creatures in general.
The Bible clearly genders God, and several specific angels as male. Yet, I’m assuming, this can’t be a biological gendering, since they are spirit people not made of flesh and blood. I’m not questioning the truthfulness of the Bible, I’m just pointing out that gender is not based on the physical in the spirit realm and yet, gender is still assigned.
Could this be the case with flesh and blood people as well. Gender identification based on prominent characteristics? Just something I’ve been thinking of.
The question that should be asked is: "How can you identify as something you have never experienced?" This goes for race... And also sex. I still want to know why the question of what is a woman, is so prominent. What about what is a man.
Next semester
It's more prominent at the moment because real women are being taken advantage of by men that want to pretend to be something they're not but have natural boosted abilities in comparison to us. These men are "transitioning" to women and then joining women's sports and absolutely dominating because they naturally have the advantage. It's just a fact of life that they do. Not every man is stronger than every woman, but, generally speaking, men are more dominant physically. I do agree that there should be the same question asked for men, but the question of women came first because real women are actually having things taken from them over it.
