As soon as Doug said something about how easy it was going to be to install the ceiling ... I just knew he jinxed the project! But in the end, it turned out fine. Whew! That dragon fly was massive!

I think the ceiling looks great. If there are any noticeable imperfections, they will only add to the charm of your lovely home. I really enjoyed seeing the giant dragon fly! I hope Belle will sketch a drawing of it. Thank you for providing interesting and wholesome content for us. Your channel is one of a very few that I know which will continually post honest, drama free and “safe” content for your subscribers. As always, sending all of you big hugs and much love from Tennessee. ❤

FYI, Back in late '80s early '90s, a Company collected used tires, ground them up to pulp, melted them and used them for highway paving
out in Eastern Washington. There were sections of test highway that were spread out for 50 miles, the noticeable difference was how quiet the road became when driving on this test area. Friend was working for this company and it was implemented in other states, for
    paving projects and roadway repairs.

Convert the bus back to camper then get a pickup as you will be getting plenty of materials for the trailer job.

    • @BobbieJeanM

Why have the added expense of another vehicle, insurance etc. when what they have works fine. If anything, a used 4x8 utility trailer seems to be more cost efficient. All they need is a hitch on the back of the bus which they may already have. I have a Honda HRV which is built on a Civic chassis and have carried trees, shrubs, 10’ boards, bags of concrete and much more in it. When I have needed more room, I borrow my daughter’s 4x8 trailer and 4-Runner. 🤷🏼‍♀️

They grow up so fast, oldest just turn 45 and it is hard for me to believe because my mind says it is still young but my body says different. They have come up with a repurpose for tires and the chop them up and place in kids parks .....Rubberway® rubber trails are pervious, quick drying, non-slip, and fit seamlessly into their surroundings. The flexibility and 'give' of the rubber makes these rubber pathways perfect for walking and jogging without the impact of harder surfaces like concrete and asphalt. Plus, these paths are made with recycled rubber, giving tires a second life and diverting them from landfills.

  • @glendabrekke5475

over here they grind up the old tires get the metal belt material out and mix the rest in with asphalt to make new road surface material
you can sand down the rough spots and spot spray them so there white again then either clear it or paint it white once more , can still do that at a later date once the rest of the house is done

Many place turn the old tires into rubber mulch to be used around their cities. Think playgrounds, walking paths and such. It's suppose to make it an 'all weather' area but I've found that this kind of mulch can leave stains on young kids clothes.

    • @denisewilson8367
      @denisewilson8367 ปีที่แล้ว

Slippery when wet, blistering hot to walk on with bare feet, and the list goes on. It was just a way to get rid of tons of tires and not have to pay to haul them away. Cities just shredded them , but most of that was done before most tires had steel belts in them. Not a good idea as far as I was concerned.

My property was an old farm and outside of tons of junk to remove it came with 50 old tires. The county I live in takes them for free , they are shredded and the rubber is added to asphalt during road work , makes the asphalt stronger. I am sure your landfill has the same approach.

Our transfer station here takes old tires for a small fee too! After my kids were off on their own I cleaned out my big shed. I found multiple tires - many in very usable shape. First I called a local garage - think junk yard but he’s actually my mechanic and the best around - and asked if they were interested. Once he took his pick I only had 3 tires left! So off to the transfer station.

Old tires are used (recycled) for many things. A couple just off the top of my head are; 1) Playground Mulch and 2) Its used in Road Base. So folks, give them a break, they can't save the world alone. Look at the bigger picture at what landfills actually do to "up-cycle" or recycle.

Thank you for your videos! Just a thought, I don’t know what you do with the board “ends” that you cut off. If you throw them away, give them to Belle instead. She can use them for her art.

Ceiling does look good on camera with natural light. I'm guessing it will look even better when you finish the walls which will take your attention away from the ceiling. I like it.

Getting near the end of a project is always so uplifting... Up lifting wood to fix to the ceiling. I know you like to have it perfectly finished so I'm sure your good jobs are best than my "it'll dos" 😉

The ceiling looks wonderful ! Once you put in lighting and all furniture and decor,it will disappear into the background. Who wants a perfect house anyway? Live in your home comfortably. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME. I hope its always where you want to be at the end of every day.

Nothing that makes me happier than sitting down with my morning cup of coffee, turning on TH-cam and seeing a DIY segment from you waiting for me! Great ceiling job too! You do such great work...glad you take breaks and dont push a project to completion if not in the mood to finish right then.❤
