    If you are going to use a shower curtain instead of a shower door, get a curved shower rod and that will make the tub feel roomier.

    I think you both are doing well as far as time management. You are together as a family for many more hours than people who's work takes them away from home. Varying your daily chores and taking fun breaks to show the kids other things helps make a harmonious and balanced home. You are great parents, teachers, spouses and hard workers. You owe us no explanations! The work will all get done in due time. We love peeking in as if we were your relatives and close friends here to praise your work and cheer you on!

    Wow!!! From that cute little baby in the carrier sitting next to his parents to this wonderful young man helping his dad do plumbing…. I got a little misty. Isn’t it amazing how 3 feet can completely change a room. That bathroom is amazing. And guys making these videos is like having 2 jobs. One to do the work and another full time setting and resetting the camera. And let’s not forget the time to edit. Taking a little break from the details is just necessary some times. Looking good guys. This may be the best redo yet. Thanks for ur time and dedication.

    If you install a curved shower curtain rod, it will feel roomier and not as closed in with the shelf on the side. @ 4:25 ish....I agree with you! I did the same thing. I installed brass stubouts for our toilets and our sinks. I know nobody will really see the ones under the sink or care about the toilet, but I personally think having the pex pipe stick out the wall looks cheap. It's the little things that make your home look like a quality build, in my humble opinion. 😊

    Plumber/contractor husband loved those 3-4 piece tub and showers. They never leak, clean up so nicely, always look good. So much less hassle than tile. Tile looks good for awhile but ends up needing to be sealed, grout needs special cleaning, can mold, can leak. Good choice!!!

    Your floor has resin in the wood - the plastic has resin ; that pad ( glad you installed ) is there to ensure any movement in the future won't cause a squeak. I worked for Sterling / Kohler for many years. trust me - they can squeak and will - more on OSB board but they will - and when they do - it's "did you install the felt mat " to which folks would say - what felt mat ?

At 73 and a 74 year old husband with titanium rods in his legs due to cancer that showed up after my tub idea, I now wish I had gotten one of those senior walk-in tubs! Pro tip: (not for you, you have a caulkless tub). When caulking a tub to the wall, always fill the tub at least halfway with water, and leave the water in until the caulk sets firmly. That way, if there is any deflection in the floor from water weight, it will already be accounted for. Also, always use waterproof (flexible) caulk, such as silicone, polyurethane, or butyl, as it will stay flexible for many many years. NEVER use latex caulk, even 'siliconized' latex. Latex will become brittle and crack in a few months. I hope this tip saves someone the grief of having to deal with water damage. And as always, thank you Doug and Ash for sharing!

    • @denisewilson8367
      @denisewilson8367 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this is not for this tub combo, but great advice. Also when caulking run 2 straps of painters tape. 1 down each side of where you want the caulk to be. Apply caulk. Use a dry wall mudding knife to smooth out the caulk. Then pull tape down or up and away at an angle to form nice crisp edges.

    I like the fact that water business of the tub/shower is opposite of the toilet. That subway tile backing looks great. I hate that we’ve always had to buy over the shower head shelves for our bathrooms. An alternative I just tried is putting aspirin g tension shower rod in our shower close to the wall that creates a shelf of sorts for the shampoos, conditioners, with some waterproof hooks to hang wash clothes, sponges on. I love the shelf that you got with your tub.

    Thanks for the info about the wall mount toilet. I'm with Ashley-- reduce the cleaning! The tub shower surround is way more practical than tile which is expensive, grout gets moldy, and goes out of style. Smart to put the shower controls so you don't have to lean over toilet! If the shelf is a problem, you can get a shower rod that bows out to make it feel more spacious at shoulder height.
