Yep rode on this line around 5 times. Definitely get the business class instead of economy, especially if it's close or rush hour or weekends. It's a way better experience and isn't much more expensive, only 10-20$ more so from a 45$ ticket you would maybe have to pay 60$ but if it's a longer trip trust me it's worth the upgrade.

@@mattsmoments2 great video btw, if there is one thing you could add maybe that would be a more comprehensive review of your sitting area, otherwise very well put together

Hi Matt, is it always has a observation car in this route? In this month we will be traveling from Santa Fe Depot to Anaheim, and I want to know if it's worth paying the business class ticket for the observation car.

From what I know and have heard it’s not always a guarantee. I thought it was. Fingers crossed for your journey

So there are seats facing forward on the beach side? I read somewhere that the only ones that face forward on the northbound route are reserved for groups and they're strict about it. I'm VERY prone to motion sickness so just want to make sure I get a forward facing seat.

Good question. Maybe opt for business. I coulda swore I saw seats facing both ways on the beach side. Could be wrong. Fingers are crossed for you.

Did you need to change trains in Irvine? On the Amtrak website it says 2 segments, LA to San Diego.
    Cool video & Thanks!

This was a couple of years ago and it was the same train. I’m unsure why the segments nowadays unless there’s track issues

Just looked and a few weeks back a landslide happened knocking out tracks

@@mattsmoments2 how full does the business class seats fill up in San Diego? Could I get an ocean side seat in the Solana Beach depot or does in fill up in San Diego

@greggoodman5568 I’ve only done this route twice and I feel the majority of the passengers were in coach class both times.

Not on this route. Or at the time of filming and enjoying the journey it was a la carte.
