  • Can we monitor the brain just like we monitor other organs, using a portable and easy to use device?
Nathan Intrator, a brain researcher and computer scientist, is currently developing one such monitor that can provide detailed information about cognitive and emotional brain activity. It can be used to improve health and wellness and for a variety of lifestyle applications.
Nathan Intrator is the neuroscience startup leader of a revolutionary cloud-based platform that uses advanced brain signal processing and big data analytics to manage brain health and human wellness. An international scholar in neural computation, he delves into the undiscovered grey area of our brain.
His latest startup, Neurosteer, uses advanced brain signal processing and big data analytics to perform continuous, mobile monitoring and management of brain health. Neurosteer's mission is to become the standard method for ubiquitous brain activity interpretation and neuro-feedback. Real-time, detailed brain state analysis will be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of medical, neuro-marketing, lifestyle and gaming applications.
In his belief communication technologies that didn’t exist 5 years ago can be leveraged to improve brain function in novel and fun ways, as well as improve the life style of individuals with brain disabilities.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

did anyone notice that all the computing capability of this device was going to be in "the cloud", not because what this device tries to do needs any amount of computing power as he claims, but because users would then have to pay a monthly subscription fee for its use. Clearly there is a strong profit motive here

Can a few electrodes really give a proper representation of all brain activity or is it actually focused on specific areas around your head?

My wife slowed down and then stopped her epilepsy meds some years ago thinking she did not need them only to end up with several severe fits that had her in a psychiatric ward for a month after three times in hospital, the hospital could not deal with her behavior as it was grand mal fits she was experiencing so back on the meds she went.
I did not know she was doing without her meds at the time and only realised this when I counted her tablets and things did not add up.
She has plenty of problems due to the past seizures she has had and any new ones would only add to this.
She has not had grand mal seizures for five years now, stopping meds just to see if one needs them can be very dangerous.
The person you mentioned fearing the worst if they stopped their meds I can really understand.

Beautiful work and exciting frontier for all humanity, look at the state of international transport with today's aircraft technology compared to the wright brothers, this is exciting work. Namste

portable eeg devices is far more accurate from real eeg , they are useless, unless you use those designed very limited function only.

Yah...and someday when I'm long gone, man will toss aside his wearable and learn that he could perform several of these otherwise "impossible" miracles but with the training of the ancients. A society that could even come/group together and create an atomic explosion. See Platos Great Year or the Yugas....

Good job, but this is not offered in my area under Medicare. I called up one guy who biofeedback therapy but not under government funded United healthcare Medicare. Am hoping that my Medicare will could fund a portable so I don't have to pay $200 for one that I've seen on the internet....😥😓😤🙏✌️👍🤔👏

you can go to a chiropracter or a neurologist to recieve sessions but you will save money in the long run if you get one from the internet.

I bought the muse and after a while concluded that it was not really reading my brain waves. I would daydream on purpose and it would still react as if I was focused. maybe muse 2 actually works. doubt it

First make sure you have good contact with all of the sensors in the device. Having said that I am yet to be sure how statistically reliable Muse is, I have yet to seen a muse equipment benchmarked against traditional research grade device. EMOTIV EPOC+ have that comparison research albeit being more expensive.
