As long as I live, I'll never be able to put into words how unbelievably beautiful my trip to Alaska was last month. I just got my 8x10 photos in and they are grand, but nothing you get on camera can compare to what your eyes saw. Thank you guys again for the inspiration in 2019 to go!!
Totally agree - I tell everyone to see Alaska! I did the inside passage cruise and then a four or five day land tour through Denali and up into Fairbanks. Amazing!
Omg that bear!!!! You were both so calm!!!! I would have freaked out!! I am not sure why this view does not have a million likes???? Best footage ever!!! I cannot wait for my Alaska trip in August!
Hi Dee and Jay. The cloudiness in the waters in Alaska is called ‘rock flour’ and is created by the weight of the glaciers sliding/grinding down the rock valleys. The dust/powder is very fine and so remains suspended in the water - so said the park ranger in Alaska when we cruised a few years back.
Awesome video!! The one time the tour driver says your not gonna see a bear and then BAM there he is!!! Priceless and that bus fee was well worth it. Can’t wait to visit there for the first time in a few weeks.
Ok Jay and Dee, you brought tears to my eyes. You took me to one of my favorite places from our 2021 Cruise to Alaska on the Miracle. We were so blessed to meet you, and continue to enjoy your videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!❤
Oh my goodness; you went and scared me with that bear being SO close!! And then he started tearing into the boardwalk!!! Ahhh! It was indeed pretty dag-gone cool that you saw the bear out there!!❤️
Dee and Jay, I recently started watching different cruise blogs, for a very specific reason - I’m trying to find out what ships actually have steps going into the swimming pools instead of just ladders… very important for me to know before I book a cruise. BUT… I found the two of you to be very interesting and relatable. Thank you for the time you put into your videos. I accidentally came across a video of your Alaskan cruise. I’ve been to Alaska and found it absolutely amazing! I tell everyone to go to Alaska. I’ve been to Mendenhall glacier, but didn’t have enough time to really do everything, and didn’t take the trails that you guys did. (We had made several other stops that day besides Mendenhall.) as you were walking those trails I felt like I was right there, and oh my goodness I am so thankful you saw that bear and got such good pictures! My main purpose in writing to you, Dee mentioned that she cried a couple times that day - and I totally understand it. When we got off the ship in Juneau and had walked just a few feet, I turned around and looked back at the ship and the mountain on the other side of the inside passage… A huge mountain with a glacier on the top and down the sides - the ice was so blue it was shocking. I had never seen anything like it and it took my breath away and I literally cried. (we also did a four or five day land tour with princess, into Denali staying at two different lodges, and then into Fairbanks with quite a few experiences. there as well that was all included - it was also amazing!) just wanted to say thank you for helping me relive my trip to Alaska. I’m looking forward to closer to home Caribbean type things coming soon - as soon as I can figure out what pools have steps!
I had a bear encounter in Yellowstone some years back and I was definitely not as calm as y'all were but I wasn't on a walk way, nor higher up than the bear - when you choose to keep onwards in the hike and go on to the path I was amazed! I couldn't have done it knowing he/she was that close! What a cool day in Alaska! Love y'all!!
Very informative to actually SEE how to do the m&m tour bus. Great idea! We did the ship excursion last time and I love that you could spend as much time as you wanted. Oh Dee, I truly felt as excited as you were to see that awesome bear!! How lucky for you!! He was SO close!! Great photos!! Love your videos so much. I’ve been three times and you make me want to go again!
I went to Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls in September, 2019. It was beautiful! A great hike with gorgeous scenery. We saw 2 bears, one crossed the parking lot where the bus dropped us off among all the people. He was not fazed at all by the people, just went on his merry way. Going back to Alaska this September.
I am soaking every bit of this series up bc my husband and I are doing this sailing in Sept from Seward. THAT BEAR! Oh my goodness!! Seriously Dee you might want to rent yourself out to do cruise excursions with people and bring your “Nature Dee” juju for good luck in seeing wildlife. Jay, you could also rent yourself out to provide the “beary” bad jokes and pointers for he “adult arcade”. 😊😊😊
That was awesome! It's funny too, you had the same bus driver that took us back from the Salmon Bake. I recognized him immediately from the corny jokes! I'm also pretty sure his partner Tina is the one who drove us there. Weird. lol
I thank you for your video as I was wondering about taking my walker on that excursion. Do the buses allow walkers? Wow what an adventure you had this day. I don't think I would have been able to hang around and watch the bear I would have been high tailing it out of there.
I hope you got to TRacy's Crab shack! We ate there when they were in a tent! Many years ago, but the best chowder etc. ever. Hey congrats on your bear sighting! There was one on my back porch 2 nights ago! I live in Arkansas. I can tell Dee is beside herself!!!!!!
Loved this vid guys. We never made it up to the falls, I was too tired and we had to get going back to Radiance. I'll make a point of getting over there the next time. Saw no bears on the bear walk in Sept. We plan on booking Radiance again for Sept. 2024. Our 3rd cruise to Alaska which ranks as our all time favorite along with our Ocean transit over to Hawaii and around the islands. Both A must do for any cruiser. I highly recommend the aft cabins if you can snag one, both of our Alaska cruises we were in the aft. You get 360* from there. Book early as soon as the next season's cruises are posted!!!! To get our excellent locations I had to call at midnight on the morning the schedules were released.
Great video! Just to point out that we were there the week before you on the Serenade at the AJ dock and there was a shuttle bus from there into town for USD5. Ticket was valid all day. So there is no need to walk into Juneau or if you are unable to.
Sailed as Chief Engineer on the RD class for many years, but never the RD. Jewel, Brilliance and Serenade. I was part of the takeout team on the Brilliance and Serenade. My last ship to be Chief Engineer was Serenade. These are still the best-looking cruise ships ever built.
We were on the Ovation in Juneau the same day, I was hoping we would have seen you somewhere... We took the Whale Watching tour with Harv and Marv's adventures per your blogs. We had a great day and saw many whales. Alaska is one beautiful place!!
Wow love the bear footage! We just got back from Alaska on Carnival Spirit. We enjoyed the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls. We rode the same blue shuttle bus with the same driver Kenny. I LOVE all your videos! Watched all your Alaska videos at least twice lolll. Can’t wait to see your Hawaii videos and your Carnival Spirit/Splendor videos . You guys are the best!!
It has been a few years since I've been to Alaska. It's so beautiful and Dee, your picture's are amazing. I would have been crying if on the trail and saw that bear. Thank you for taking me back k. Now I need to look at Alaska cruises.
That was a awesome bear encounter. You two really lucked out. That had to make a great day even better. This was a very good video. Anything with Alaska is always good. Were you concerned when you came off the elevated part of the trail with the bear so close?
We definitely stayed more aware after leaving the boardwalk area, hah... but we were able to observe him for a good 20 minutes or so, and it seemed he was interested in staying low, marking territory, and eating grass. But we did hear reports later that he might have made it to the edge of the parking lot!!
Something interesting about Alaska is the lower angle of the sun means it’s hitting your whole body instead of being directly above so it feels warmer.
I watch your videos everyday and dream of when we board. We are booked on Radiance out of New Orleans in January. I am going with my Aunt Nancy and this is her first cruise. She is wanting to do Alaska next, have my heart set on Princess for that one. Thank you for the vlogs.
Loved this vlog series, thank you! We’re headed to Alaska on Quantum next week. How long do you need at Mendenhall to hike to Nugget Falls? We fear our excursion isn’t going to give us enough time to see the glacier up close!
Man I can’t wait til we go back next year. We loved medenhall. The trail y’all took and saw the bear was closed when we was there last year. We could only go right😓.
I want to go back there SO badly! You really lucked out with that bear encounter. How cool was that?! I'm glad you found out (and shared with us) why the bear was walking so strangely. "Beaver" Nugget Falls (LOL!) provides some great glacier water that I drank! Filled up my water bottle near the base of the falls, and it was wonderful!!
Not a very good idea! This from an official source: " It’s not advisable to drink glacier water, even if the water appears clean. It could be contaminated by organic or inorganic pollutants or even a microscopic parasite." If you want to do that, take a small portable water filter with you. I would never drink any water these days out in the wilderness without it.
Thank you for showing your hiking adventure in juneau. I’m sooo jealous! I am looking for a hike to do when I am there in a few weeks and theses look amazing. Would you recommend the hike you did for a solo hiker?
It was 82 in 2000 when we were there, and my husband went salmon fishing. I was shocked at that time at how much mendenhall had receded over the years. I imagine it has definitely been lots of the last 22 years! I think it's time to go back.
As long as I live, I'll never be able to put into words how unbelievably beautiful my trip to Alaska was last month. I just got my 8x10 photos in and they are grand, but nothing you get on camera can compare to what your eyes saw. Thank you guys again for the inspiration in 2019 to go!!
Ain't that the truth, I so wish there was a camera that could!
Totally agree. That's what I tell everyone who hasn't been to Alaska, you have to be there in the flesh to fully appreciate it and actually feel it! 👍
Totally agree - I tell everyone to see Alaska! I did the inside passage cruise and then a four or five day land tour through Denali and up into Fairbanks. Amazing!
This has been one of the best vids yet, the 🐻 and the glacier and waterfalls just brilliant!!!👌👏
Omg that bear!!!! You were both so calm!!!! I would have freaked out!! I am not sure why this view does not have a million likes???? Best footage ever!!! I cannot wait for my Alaska trip in August!
We were excited to see such bear action in May! They're usually still tucked away half-hibernating at that time of the year, I think. Woohoo!! :D
Awesome video! I can't believe how close you were to that bear, really cool encounter!
Always love Jay’s commentary and videos, but I have to tell you, Dee, that your still photos are getting better and better! Good job, guys!
Dee you ROCK taking these awesome pics!!! Yasssss hunty!!!
Hello Guys
Thanks for sharing. Dee Great Photos of the Bear 🐻 . How Lucky you were to see her.
Keep up the Great Work. 👍
Arlene & Tim
That was a beautiful black bear! So happy you shared that amazing hike with us!

It's amazing how GOD created these beautiful scenery. PRAISE GOD! 🙌🙏✝️
Photos look as beautiful as postcards!!!!
Wow!!! How beautiful that bear is!! What an experience!!! He had an itch on his head. Lol
Awesome video!! The one time the tour driver says your not gonna see a bear and then BAM there he is!!! Priceless and that bus fee was well worth it. Can’t wait to visit there for the first time in a few weeks.
Fantastic hike today. Glad we could join you. Bearly believeable how close he came. All the views were great. Thanks mucho.
Loved your bear encounter. We've been to Mendenhall more than once and never seen bears! Beach day in Alaska, too funny! Great vlog.
Ok Jay and Dee, you brought tears to my eyes. You took me to one of my favorite places from our 2021 Cruise to Alaska on the Miracle. We were so blessed to meet you, and continue to enjoy your videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!❤

Wow. Wow. Wow.
Amazing video and pics.
I’m thinking the Alaska Tourism Board needs to put you’all on their payroll. 😄

This is all so helpful as we will be there in August!!
WOW! What a great video! You guys were so lucky to see that bear up close & personal! Great pic's Dee! Take care...

OMG!! This was so awesome!!
That was awesome! It's funny too, you had the same bus driver that took us back from the Salmon Bake. I recognized him immediately from the corny jokes! I'm also pretty sure his partner Tina is the one who drove us there. Weird. lol
That is awesome!
That was some amazing bear footage!!
Perfect Breakfast! Enjoy!
I thank you for your video as I was wondering about taking my walker on that excursion. Do the buses allow walkers? Wow what an adventure you had this day. I don't think I would have been able to hang around and watch the bear I would have been high tailing it out of there.
Cool seeing the bear!!!!!!
WOW!! The glacier has really gone down since I was there last time in 2019
That was awesome
Hi from Wollongong, Australia. What a fantastic bear encounter! Thanks for sharing.

I cried with you Dee. So beautiful.
The bear footage was awesome. I didn’t see any last August when we visited. Thanks for the great vlog!
Great video! Just to point out that we were there the week before you on the Serenade at the AJ dock and there was a shuttle bus from there into town for USD5. Ticket was valid all day. So there is no need to walk into Juneau or if you are unable to.
My goodness how lucky you were to get such great photos and memories with the bear. thanks for sharing
I love this episode. Thank you.
So beautiful thank you sharing your adventures
When we were at AJ dock, there was no fee charged for the shuttle. For most of our ports in Alaska, NCL docks were very inconvenient.
Interesting! The captain said he thought it was $5 a person or something for the shuttle, but we didn't even ask, ha ha... oops!! :P
@@parodeejay It may have changed...
That was amazing and glorious! What a beautiful video Jay and Dee!
You are both very brave.
OMG so beautiful... Love love love the bear photos

The bear cottage was spectacular! Thank you!

Love the videos, going on royal Caribbean quantum of the seas July 25 and enjoying the virtual tours to prepare
We were on the Ovation in Juneau the same day, I was hoping we would have seen you somewhere... We took the Whale Watching tour with Harv and Marv's adventures per your blogs. We had a great day and saw many whales. Alaska is one beautiful place!!

Wow, Alaska is simply beautiful 😍 thanks ya'll
I would have been heading back to visitor Centre trail after seeing that bear! That is just too darn close for comfort for me.
What an awesome experience! So glad you had a bear sighting!
It has been a few years since I've been to Alaska. It's so beautiful and Dee, your picture's are amazing. I would have been crying if on the trail and saw that bear. Thank you for taking me back k. Now I need to look at Alaska cruises.

Hi. Great video. May I ask where Dee got the cargo pants she was wearing? This really makes me want to do another Alaskan cruise.
Old Navy!! :D
Loved the bear! Just a little too close for me. We saw no bear while there but I did see a pretty good size Porcupine in a tree.
Loved this vlog series, thank you! We’re headed to Alaska on Quantum next week. How long do you need at Mendenhall to hike to Nugget Falls? We fear our excursion isn’t going to give us enough time to see the glacier up close!
It's about a mile in and a mile back, plus however long you'd like to spend at the falls. I'd say give it at least an hour to not feel rushed!! :D
We were on NCL Encore May 08-15, 2022 and visit the park it is awesome.
Spectacles.... hahaha 😂
Oh wow that bear got so close. What a cool encounter.
I don't know Juneau? I could bearly stand this video
Man I can’t wait til we go back next year. We loved medenhall. The trail y’all took and saw the bear was closed when we was there last year. We could only go right😓.
Cannot wait til I go in 2023. Was surpose to be this August but had to change it because of cancer.
Thanks Jay now I want beaver nuggets and to go to Alaska

If you’re docked there, there is a bus that goes continuously to and from town and it’s free
absolutely gorgeous. all of it.🤘🤘🥰🤟
Awesome bear footage 🐻
Good morning!
Will be there July 3rd hope the bear makes an appearance then
Taking s can would have probably be credit and faster. We also have Uber here. Hope you guys had fun! Hit up Lupo for some food!
