    Hi Paul, and thank you Paul, I have enjoyed watching this right through, you explain it so well. I am a transgender woman, who has been struggling with my female voice now for over 10 years. I use a programme called Overtone Analyser to practice most days and use professional tutors, and my voice is always fine. I have just done a 30-minute session on Overtone Analyser staying well within feminine ranges and recordings sounding good, but where I seem to fail, is that I just cannot make this voice what I term my default voice.
    I have just customized your "Suspend belief Statement" to suit my problem so together with reaffirming that I am good enough, and hold a 20 second or more vision and idea of a wonderful female voice every time I utter a word. I feel nothing but excitement ahead. Thanks again. Pippa J

      Salut jerry,

      @@SelfHelpforLife i have been trying the method of emile coue for a few days now. What do you think about specific vs general autosuggestions.
      2 months ago I felt great obsession and drive using a specific deadline and clearly defined goal.
      Now I have lost that drive and the old method does not work but also coue method is not working to although I am doing 100 repeats of a suggestion.
      What would you suggest I try?.

    Having recently started hypnotherapy, I definitely can see how your tutorial can assist me. She had a unusual repetitive technique which I now realize was helping me with my peripheral vision shifting left to right, and then right to left. My eyes got heavy and when she shifted to another repetitive left to right, and right to left technique, my relaxation was very deep, and probably close to a state of hypnosis. An EEG probably would have shown changes in my brainwave patterns. I think that you helped me a lot and I will practice what you suggested at night and in early waking, where I have the most lucid dreams for about 10 minutes with my eyes opening and then closing (as self-recorded on near-IR 850 nm digital video). I specifically resonated with your idea that the suggestions or affirmations must be credible for my subconscious to accept them. Many thanks.

    I've watched so many videos on this subject, and for me this is the best I've come across. Maybe it's because you're an English guy with a similar temperament to my own, but I find it more relatable and common sense based than a lot of the material on TH-cam. And the focus on bypassing the critical faculty IS largely ignored elsewhere. Great work!

    Hypnosis is about focus. The better/stronger your focus the deeper the trance. It's easier to focus when your body is relaxed, and your mind clear.
    If you are complete newbie, just count your breathes 10 times from 10 to 1, while focusing on your breathing and swiping all random thoughts away, just simply don't focus on them and they go away... and boom you're in a trance. The more reps you do, the better you gonna get at this.

    wow, thank you Paul for really interesting, easy to follow and valuable video!best explanation I have came across. Keep your content with that great informative well delivered flow, we are very grateful for useful tips and such a good explanation. Im a new subscriber checking out your other productions as from now :) question is: how to keep myself up? - i tend to fall asleep while in bed when my waves are dropping. is sitting pose an alternative? on the other hand during one experience Ive had with a professional hypnoterapist i couldn't fall into conducted hypnosession and my mind chatter brought up thoughts and emotions instead of surrender. i believe my brain needs some practice which is already exciting :)

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your lovely feedback and glad you found this video helpful. Yes sitting up (either in bed or in a chair is a good idea). Also doing self-hypnosis earlier in the day when you have more energy. First thing in the morning can be a good time. Yes that mind-chatter is normal for most people and it doesn't necessarily prevent you from getting results either through self-hypnosis or by seeing a hypnotherapist. This mental chatter is called the "Critical Faculty" It's quite complicated to explain, so I'll do a video on this at some point during 2021! - In the meantime, this article explains it quite well - www.selfhypnosis.com/the-conscious-critical-faculty/. Hope this helps. Paul

      Thanks! - Sorry to hear that you are in a bad place right now. If you can, I would do this between steps 4 and 5, so after repeating the positive mantras, visualization or questions, but before returning to normal waking awareness. This would work well if you can hold a spray of the smell in your hand that you can activate at that time. If that's not possible, I would activate the smells before starting the self-hypnosis session. Hope this helps. Paul

    Thank you so much for the great tutorial. I have a question: by doing self-hypnosis can I reach everything that I focus on it? for example, immigration is my dream can I reach it by doing hypnosis and working on my unconsciousness mind?

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Behi, Yes it will definitely help, but it's important to combine this with action. For example, through self-hypnosis, you might notice an immigration opportunity that you wouldn't have noticed otherwise. However, if you don't then act on that opportunity, then not much will change. Also look out for opportunities consciously. Look at job sites for the country you wish to emigrate too. Understand the migration rules etc. Hope this helps. Paul

      Hi Rosa, Hypnosis does get easier with practice, especially when listening to self-hypnosis recordings. These usually require repeated listenings to be effective. It is a skill that gets better with practice. Having sessions with a hypnotherapist can really help too, as they can provide suggestions that are specific to the issue you wish to resolve. Also lots of good ideas in this video, so do practice these and apply them to your self-hypnosis sessions. Think about learning to ride a bike or learning to drive, It took a few attempts to get good at it. Hope this helps. Paul.

    In how many days does our mind accept that we want to teach it by self hepnosis

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends! It takes 21 days to change a habit (and this includes mental habits), however, it can take longer, especially if the new idea is quite different to what you were thinking before. You're making progress when you begin to make new choices and decisions that were automatic before.

  • @philchant2920
    @philchant2920 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Paul, very interesting. How long should each of the four steps be before coming out of hypnosis and therefore how long is a full session? Do they get longer with practice? And how do you know you're at the alpha level and is it easy to stay there throughout? Thanks!

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Phil, Great questions. For each step, I would suggest the following as a rough guide. Step 1 - 5 mins, Step 2 - 2 mins, Step 3 - 3 mins, Step 4 - 4 to 20 mins (depending on how long you have), Step 5 - 1 min. So a full session could be between 15 and 30 minutes. I wouldn't expect sessions to get longer with practice. They might become shorter as you become more proficient. You're in the alpha state when your mind is calmer and more internally focussed. You are still aware of the external environment, but you have a greater awareness of your internal thoughts and feelings. You also find it easier to concentrate on one thing. Yes, it's pretty easy to stay in this state throughout. Often your mind will wonder, but as long as you bring your mind back to the self-hypnosis session, you should stay in the Alpha state. Also, if you practice self-hypnosis as soon as you wake up, or just before going to bed, you are more likely to be in the Alpha state already. Hope this helps. Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Not heard a hypnotherapist talk about the critical faculty before, you seem to understand it better or at least want others to improve more. The bouncer example is really good, I will be using that affirmation!
    I was wondering can I use a question and statement in the same session (for the same topic)? For example "How can I achieve 10% body fat before the end of the year?" and then after repeating that 10 times or so "It's Christmas 2020 and I have 10% body fat"?
    Many Thanks

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's interesting. Psychologists and perhaps hypnotherapists sometimes refer to this as cognitive dissonance. I learnt the bouncer idea from Andrew Parr. He's a wonderful hypnotherapist in London. Yes its fine to use questions and suggestions in the same self-hypnosis session. However, with questions, I would ask the question and then see what answers come up with within. Then use any relevant answers to create more positive suggestions. I wouldn't repeat a question more than 2 or 3 times in a session, as the objective is to get some answers. However, I would repeat your suggestions 10 or more time. Hope this makes sense and helps you. I really like the question and suggestion that you shared. Very specific, easy to measure and great for your subconscious mind to latch on to.

      Yes, pretty much anyone can be hypnotized! Main exceptions are children under 8, people with a very low IQ, people suffering with a mental illness that affects their ability to concentrate or people under the influence or alcohol or other drugs that impair concentration and focus. Some people are more suggestible than others, but they can still be hypnotized. Hope this helps. Paul

    Well -- I don't know. When I was a teenager (about 100 years ago), I tried going to a professional hypnotherapist; I mean, a real M.D. therapist. One of those jokers. Needless to say, it was a dismal failure. I was never hypnotized. Not once in all the dozens of sessions. The most I achieved (if you can even call it that) was that one time, I nodded off, started snoring like a freight train (a real window-rattler) and finally had to be awakened by the therapist. Just a bit embarrassing. So, I don't hold out much hope for attaining any genuine degree of hypnosis. Regardless, I still have to give it yet another try. Guess I'm just too stubborn to see reason and give up. So, I'll watch your videos; do whatever exercises. And we'll just have to see -- yet again.

    I've discovered the wonders of CBD oil (NOT THC) last month after my wonderful father passed away. The entire experience heightened my anxiety, so my son bought me some CBD oil. I took a special interest in it when I read NIH studies of CBD oil instrumental in reversing osteoporosis.
    So my question is this: would CBD oil help in the process of autohypnosis, or hinder it?

    • @SelfHelpforLife
