Thank you for making an actual tutorial that gets right to the point instead of uploading a 40 minute playthrough that people have to scan through to find the relevant information that may or may not be there!
That's actually the reason I made it... I was looking for how to tame them, and it was all just playthroughs! So, I took the initiative. I'm glad it was helpful! :)
I am so grateful I found this. With every single mini game in My Time at Portia, I find the in game tutorials almost useless. This was so to the point and helpful!
@@Mary-np2cu I'm glad it was useful to you! It sure confused me when I first encountered it, and I figured if it confused me, it'll probably confuse somebody else. Apparently I was right, this is one of my most viewed videos. Lol.
the mini game can be touchy, so i suggest you prep the trap then when you get up after saving at night, run straight over and tame the llama. if you fail, quit, reload and try again. it took me a few rounds of practice before i succeeded
This video makes this process a bit more confusing than it is: you don’t need to pay any attention to the score bar or the timer-you simply need to focus on pressing the button as the yellow circle meets the solid white ball it surrounds. And, the smaller trap box is exclusively for colorful llamas, while the larger is only cotton llamas. Lastly, there is no opportunity to practice the game outside of actually playing it to win the llama; if you fail, you need to start over again and build a new trap with food to try to catch a new llama.
It's a great game, very worth the money! Just be prepared for some problems with the game... Pathea released it too early, and they're still adding content and fixing errors.
@@jasondp3546 I've been hearing a lot of people say it's pretty buggy on PS4 right now, but I don't own it on PS4 so I don't know from personal experience.
Sorry, I hadn't thought about that when I made it. They're not as good as the White Horse, but better than the normal horse. The Cotton Llama is captured fully trained, you just have to worry about loyalty.
Last I checked, they're slower than the best horse. Llamas are novelties... intended for players who want quirky or cute mounts instead of the fastest. Although, you can sell llamas that you catch, and you can't catch horses, so they also serve as another way to make money. :)
@@SqueakingLion You can also get access to the llama much earlier, since you can get them before the quest for the stable repair at the ranch has arrived. So it's sort of an early-access mount until the better (horses) are available.
At the same time? No, you can only have one trap active at a time. But you can tame as many llamas as you have room in your stable, which I believe is four.
I already did 3 attempts with capturing the cotton llama. spent so much money on the golden ginseng, but I cant seem to capture it? What am i doing wrong. Is there a specific time of day I should set the trap?
I tried it but somehow when W and S are on the screen together an press W (because the yellow ring is only perfect on W yet) It will also takes the S as a miss klick. What should I do?
That's... odd. I've never had that happen to me. That might be a glitch in your game... sadly, an all too common thing in MTAP. It's also possible that your keyboard keys are a bit dirty... W and S are right next to each other, and if there's a crumb or something under both keys, pressing one might affect the other. Hope that helps, though you might want to contact the devs on that one.
@@SqueakingLion Thanks for the reply! Now that I know this isn't normal I will 1. Clean my keyboard and 2. contact the devs. It's not the first bug I noticed. (It kinda looks like the sounds have trouble do load and the game freezes for 1sec. Example: loading the fight music after the first hit on a enemy.)
@@SqueakingLion Oh... I was talking of the standpoint that it would have actually been a good feature, and I would have totally implemented it, considering it's not all that hard to add. But if they said it was a bug and corrected it, then that's that I suppose. :) Excuse the disturbance, and have a nice day. :)
That's strange. Have you contacted the devs over at Pathea? They're good people, they've helped me several times. You might need to restart your entire campaign if it's only Day 2 that's messing up for you, sounds like you have a corrupted save file.
Can we just say this is an alpaca looks nothing like a llama i hate how the devs dont know anything about llamas and alpacas, llamas have big ears and huge body, alpacas are small and fluffy with small ears sigh, btw great video wish it was actually a llama.
And yes, this game is significantly easier, compared to other games that are based on this function. And even some generic MMORPG-s. Like B&S for example, in which to pass the tutorial for the easiest to play class, you have the easy setting of the colorful lama minigame, but including both mouse buttons, as well as Q and E. It's kind of difficult to get the hang of it, but it's kind of fun after a while. :D And B&S is mostly a PVP game in which you fight other real people, so you are pretty much competing on reflexes as well as tactics and strategy. :D

Good tip! :)
Good way to earn quick cash as you can sell after taming.
It's not bad, though the price of Golden Ginseng can cut into your profits a bit. :)
It’s basically my routine to get a llama as soon as possible every save file because they’re SO helpful. So much cheaper than a horse!
Very true! :)

This video is several years old, and a couple of things have changed since then.
What do you do after taming it? Can you ride it around? Do you put it in a barn?
You can ride it or sell it. :) They are kept in the same stables as your horses.
This game worth a buy? And are u on a time limit?

@@jasondp3546 I've been hearing a lot of people say it's pretty buggy on PS4 right now, but I don't own it on PS4 so I don't know from personal experience.

ty a lot man!! this vbideo really helped me i was so lost when trying to use the traps xd
Glad to help! :)
I put bait every time but no lamas are caught ?
Can you use a llama without a stable?
No, you have to have a stable. I don't think it will even let you capture one without a stable.
@@SqueakingLion thanks :)
Probably dumb question but is it quicker then a horse? I mean what’s the advantage of having a llama over a horse or is it not really any different?

I'm not sure about the current llamas, but last I played... no, the max stats horse is faster.

You rock!
Thanks! :)
I fed completely and got all the keys right and even then there was an error in the capture. What am I doing wrong?
Without seeing what you did, it's hard to say. Did you make sure they were completely happy before you tried? You have to get the timing perfectly.
Just caught my first llama (I’m lvl 42.) and it was a painful process. Maybe I was doing something wrong
It just takes some getting used to. :)
Squeaking Lion yeah now with a special perk I’m catching them like every two days in the game ;)
I already did 3 attempts with capturing the cotton llama. spent so much money on the golden ginseng, but I cant seem to capture it? What am i doing wrong. Is there a specific time of day I should set the trap?
The time of day doesn't make a difference. It just takes practice. :)
Thank you for this--the in-game "tutorial" was less than helpful.
I'm glad to help! Yeah, the tutorial in-game is really bad. That's why I wanted to post this. :)
I keep failing this, I’m not familiar with these controllers so I don’t remember the buttons right off hand(pro controller)
I don’t understand. I have fed it to full and not missed at all and it keeps saying fail.
I don't know. Maybe you're glitched?

Is the mini game as hard as fishing?
I think fishing is pretty easy, so I might not be the best person to ask. But I think taming llamas is more difficult. :)
Do I need a stable?
Yes, if you intend to keep or sell them. Otherwise, all you can do is let them go.
I mean... the Llama just changed its opinion on what it wants to eat, and you call it a "glitch" even though it's working as intended... :D
I don't know if you're serious or not, but that actually was a graphical glitch... the developers confirmed that and have since corrected it. :)

Turn off the voice acting. That helps for PS4 then turn it back on.
