heard they changed the fish values back. I think the main problem was that the nerf was sudden and left a lot of people feeling jipped. Maybe they should make fishing more complex, so that it's harder but still rewarding. Maybe add a new expensive bait that has a higher chance of luring kingfish. Maybe make people tired of being sold the same fish over and over. Maybe add a river troll that stalks you as you keep catching fish. Or they could add new tiers to other activities or higher quality items that makes them just as profitable, if not, more than fishing.
@@SqueakingLion games are better when devs put thought and effort into their mechanics. whenever we run into lame mechanics, it's because of lazy and uninspired design. Like bullet sponge enemies and long overused hallways.

I've been making a ton of money mining with the drill in the Desert Abandoned Ruins and then selling all the ore and artifacts I don't need. I can get to 100k in a few days. You do have to have a lot of dried apple slices but I have a ton of racks set out that I collect from every day. It's quite lucrative, especially since market fluctuations don't affect the price and you can just sell any day of the week. The shops often have a lower cap, but A & G Construction seems to have a much higher cap, so it's my go-to after Mars, et al, run out. It's probably because of Albert's wealth (just a guess.) Plus, mining is easy work. Just point and drill. No mini game, no skill required.
Another added benefit to the most profitable spot is golden salmon make one of the best health consumables IMO (18% heal). It’s mass producible when you are already doing this method for money. Golden salmon aren’t worth much to sell but still plenty useful!
I really appreciate your thoroughness here. I was watching another video and he did only one day at each location and I could tell his figures were skewed by the King fish RNG.
If you know what you're doing, anyone can catch a goliath with a beginner rod. But it will never be efficient, since landing one with a beginner rod takes a lot of time and effort, and you're very likely to break the line than pull it in.
Squeaking Lion been using a beginner rod for the Goliath fish & catch an average of 20 a day. Have about 60,000 gols and only been fishing there for about 12 days (not counting my king fish catch)
I don't know why you're saying not to go after Goliath even with basic rod. I started playing the game 2 days ago, found them there, and realised how good they are for selling. Still able to catch them fairly easy tbh and it's not like I'm exactly an "experienced" fisher, so I would suggest for people trying it out before they disregard it completely
It's because the amount of time and effort you have to put in to bring in a Goliath with a basic rod reduces your total number of fish, thus reducing the amount of money you make. It's not just about the fish itself... it's a numbers game. :)
i just realized i left my game open over night and it didnt receive the update because of it. now im never gonna close the game since the fish is still giving me the pre patch prices =]
grab some bubble fish early game and then get the fish ID perk ASAP. when you open up the hazardous ruins, start fishing the spot near where you find scraps for wise fish. also bubble fish can be used to make a 35% crit buff stew and salmon can make a 18% health buff stew... great for combat
I caught 2 king fish at portia river the first week of a new save. In addition to that, I lost a 3rd king, so really it's rng. I have gone all day at spots without catching a king, although that is more rare than catching one king.
Fishing is not worth anymore u need 8sec of ruling the catch. I consider for selling disc. U get 50-60disc/day sell it almost 8k when market over 110%. Sell every ores and turn sand to glass. Also turn stones for woods

Thank you for the tips. Actually I still find fishing in portia harbour (beginning of the game) more profitable than go mining all day. I get more than 2k gols for 20 bubble fish and 20 golden salmon eventhough they change the value 😀
I'm pretty sure the values for fishing are back to normal, though they might change them again in the future. Fishing is definitely the most profitable thing to do, though it burns up your day to do it. :)
i have a superstition that mondays are best for king fish every ingame monday i go fishing and alwayse get a king sometimes 2 (prolly just my imagination but its working for me)

In how many shops can u actualy sell these fish? Until now, i was making gols by selling traps, and all that i needed to was just dive into 2# ruin each day to get some iron ore. But sinc u can sell traps only at 2 shops, u can't make that much money.
There are eight shops you can sell fish in. Total Tools, Best Brother, the Round Table, Martha's Bakery, Sophie's Ranch (also known as the Farm Store), Tody's Fishing Shop (only open on weekends), The Harbor Trade Shop, and the South Block Trade Post. :)

I didn't realize that you actually needed to stop pressing it to get the meter to go down! Thank you so much! I will use this knowledge to catch fish now!

@@SqueakingLion all you do is sell engines from 97 level boss, you can get 10 with boost and 15 if skill triggers, every fight, so thats like 200+ engines a day and much faster, plus 13500 exp per kill

Technically, Pa's missions are the end of the game. But there is more end-game content that opens up afterwards, mostly regarding the NPCs... just no main story missions.
They should really make all other things more profitable. Having all your machines running with semi rare materials for a piece of furniture that sells for 300 gols is pathetic.
Pick one really. Not one craftable item outvalues 1 worm and 3 seconds of your time versus multiple machines having to run 6 ingame hours. My point is that everything besides fishing is a complete waste of time when it comes to making money. In a game that revolves around crafting, that's quite bizarre.
By not counting the king fish on your sales, you skewed your own results. If you start with 500 bait that’s 500 catches, now let’s say 8 of those catches where king fish, then the next day you start with 500 bait again, but this time you catch 23 king fish (I know, unlikely), now day 3 rolls along and again, you start with 500 bait but this time you catch no king fish. Now, not counting king fish in your numbers that first day your actually selling 492 catches, the second 477 catches, and day third 500. Although they are rare, king fish should be part of count to get more accurate results, not counting them throws off your base of 500 bait/catches. Not trying to be rude or obnoxious, just trying to help get things more accurate and help how I can
That's actually why I didn't add the king fish. There's no way to accurately determine how many king fish you'll catch, as it is entirely random no matter what fishing spot you're in. The best I've ever done is catch 5 king fish in a single day, but I've gone an entire day without a single king... that's a difference of 25,000 gols, based on pure luck rather than skill and location. That's an enormous skewing of results, and it's why I left them out. The numbers are to give you an accurate idea of what you can expect, and any king fish you get are an added bonus. :)
Fishing i only fished at the fishing event I rushed to lvl 15 and killed every rare monster in early area I made 4500gols in 1day cause I got shades of the cotton lama and crown of the rare birds 3 of em. You can get at least 5k+ early game by killing rares just don't die.
I'm not aware of anyone who has made a spreadsheet. This is also a bit out of date, since the locations of the fish have been altered a bit over the past year or so. But the desert oasis is still the best place to fish, and the numbers are still roughly the same, so I haven't updated the video. :)

It's such a good game, and they just stopped developing it once they released it half-finished. They're talking about making a sequel called My Time At Sandrock, but honestly I'm not sure if I'll get it. They did a full release of a half-finished game the first time, so how can I know if they're going to do it the second time? Truly a pity. They had such an awesome game on their hands, and they just... dropped it.
You'll have so many fish that you'll likely need to sell in multiple places to off-load it all. There really isn't any particular place that's better than others... just find the shops that will buy fish, and sell off as much as they'll take. :)

All the values used included the travel time to get to the fishing spots. But with the Collapsed Wasteland being closer than many fishing spots, there's something to be said for having the extra time available if you only wanted to do some quick fishing!

That's one of the reasons the most profitable fishing spot isn't one with the Goliath in it. :)

About the king fish, i find between 2-4 king fish a day if i spend all my stamina there (had that in desert and at collapsed wasteland)
They've definitely increased the catch percentage on king fish. I may have to re-do my calculations to include an average number of kings.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to do these numbers not counting king fish. It gives a reasonable baseline to use, and the king fish are a nice addition. :)
latest patch might have made the information obsolete. the goliath now sells for 140 and for me at least takes quite alot more effort to catch

what about deepest dungeon? you can kill like 10-19 bosses daily and sell all their loot plus get 135000 exp+
This was made before Deepest Dungeon was added. I haven't done the math for that, so I'm not sure if it's better or worse. :)

All the values used included the travel time to get to the fishing spots. But with the Collapsed Wasteland being closer than many fishing spots, there's something to be said for having the extra time available if you only wanted to do some quick fishing!
