"I had a beagle named Daisy when I was a kid."
Oh shit. She is not ready.
"My granddad accidentally ran over it!"
...I mean, she kinda is >
She was already crying. It's gonna be bad.
Oh shit indeed 🫢
That’s exactly what I thought too
No she isn’t.
3:50 Ashleigh: "Am I about to cry?"
No. You're about to be completely broken.
No.. she has to pretend she doesn't know and give a dramatic reaction.
@@bryanb3352 Her actual reaction, when the dog gets killed, is not fake. I've seen girls "ugly cry" like that before, and it can't be faked. There was nothing "dramatic," or premeditated, about that reaction.
..then be rebuilt back up again by proxy of John's actions.
@@bryanb3352why do you even watch these if you genuinely think that she's just lying? Absolutely bizarre. The only reason I have any idea about this is because I've watched a couple of reactions. Just because you watched something doesn't mean everybody else does. Even if it is popular.
Right, I was thinking she was about to be shattered.
Ashleigh: I had a beagle named Daisy.😀
Us: This going to be a ruff one. 😭
Lol. I see what you did there.

Vigo is NOT alive for the sequel. He is the late Vigo, he is pushing up daisies, he is taking a dirt nap, he is deceased, he is expired, he is pining for the fjords, he is no more.
He is an ex-Vigo
Viggo sleeps with the parrots
God bless you for this, and God save those who don’t get the reference.
He shuffled off this Mortal Coil.

No movie has affected pet-lovers this hard since Homeward Bound, but while that movie makes people weep with how much they love their critters, this one has totally normal people see this man's scorched-Earth rampage and go "same."
Because honestly? BIG FUCKING SAME
And it didn’t even have to be Scorched Earth. All Viggo had to do was give up his kid and give him back the car.
I just managed to watch it in late 2024, because I knew about the dog, but man, when Wick says "By Grabthar's Hammer, by the Suns of Warvan, you shall be avenged"...

Anyone here **not** a complete weirdo and who **doesn’t** watch Ashleigh to see her cry? Please like and restore my faith in humanity.
Damn it! I always end up crying when Ashleigh starts
@RenataKleinRK no I don't like to see Ashleigh cry! I HATE to cry! And when she does,I cry

I lost my 2 years ago 😢 I've watched John wick at least 6 times and after the 2nd time I fast forward past the dog dying 😤😭
In this movie, he's William Defriend. 😂
I highly recommend to you all who see this, Willem Dafoe in The Hunter

I would really like to see Willem play the Joker.
More like Dabro.
Yall are funny in this comment thread...lol
No one seems to notice this but, the dog that John saves has a tag on its cage that says EUTHANIZE in the morning. That’s why he chooses that particular dog, because he couldn’t save Daisy. You’re the only person I’ve seen that noticed that fact👍
"He missed on purpose!" The number of reactors who miss this completely....
I know, right?
It's absolutely insane that A SNIPER misses that shot...
If Dafoe truly wanted to kill John Wick, Wick would have been dead before that door even opened, and the woman walked inside. I knew from the moment he didn't pull the trigger that he had no intention of killing John Wick.
@@Christian-el2bz I mean, if you're a professional hitman with a sniper rifle and you can't land a shot on a sleeping person from across an alleyway, you should probably find another line of work. But yeah, I was glad Ashleigh picked up on Marcus's intentions so quickly, because I've seen SO MANY other reactors spend half the movie confused by why Marcus keeps "missing."
@ Btw did you notice that what Marcus was making when Viggo was offering him the contract was something of MAINLY carrots?
Carrots is filled with A vitamin - which helps with eyesight. SO many great details in this franchise!
So if you haven't figured it out, the Continental is a safe haven for hitmen. Hence the rules no business can be conducted on the grounds.
The coins are their currency. They are worth around $2K-$5K each.
Red Circle was written on the napkin letting John know where Iosef was located.
Dinner Reservation is code for how many to clean up.
When John asked Francis (the doorman) how much weight he lost, it was code for how many hitmen were inside. That's why John gave him the night off.
A movie where your words come back to haunt you.
You are really going to enjoy this Series. Can't wait for Chapter Two.
Also, Francis is just the doorman, he just works there and is an innocent. Just to note that the only people John takes out are other assassins, people who fired on him and people who are employed by and are directly in the way of his path to his target. He does take care to minimise who can get caught in the crossfire... Though he does get a bit more reckless the further things go...
I never picked up on the weight loss code.
I thought since John was a hit man for the family for so long that he had gotten to know some of the men pretty well. Francis being one of them. And he had actually lost a lot of weight, potentially from advice from John himself. So when he ha the choice between killing the lookout and letting him go, he knew he could trust him to leave and not try to alert anyone.
@@hulkslayer626 John would have absolutely killed Francis, if he thought for a second that the man would immediately alert people to his presence. It was definitely a "trust" thing.
Francis isn't just the doorman. He's also a guard. He's wearing an earpiece tying him into the security network. When asked if he's lost weight Francis says 60 kilograms. Which is 132 pounds. Francis hasn't lost 132 pounds. There are 60 guards in the building. John lets Francis go because he told him the number of guards.
I think Marcus, Winston, and Aurelio, are all old friends of Johns. Harry, Charon, Addy and Francis like workplace acquaintances.
I took a hard fall yesterday on some ice on the sidewalk outside my house; I say this to preface with context when I say that when John's doorbell rings after he cleaned house from the guys sent to kill him in his home and Ashleigh said "Oh shit, I forgot I ordered pizza earlier", EVERYTHING HURT when I laughed. That caught me SO MUCH by surprise.
"You just killed like a dozen people, and you're thinking about dinner?" 🤣 🤣 🤣
😆😆
Well, dinner they´ll have (in the afterlife) or they´ll be (for the fishes).
It's a Valhalla reference, when you really think about it. That's what "Valhalla" is, after all. Dining in perfect luxury with your dead ancestors, for all eternity. So, in a way, it was absolutely a dinner reservation for all of those dead warriors on his living room floor.
tonight they dine in hell? lol
According to Keanu Reeves, he did 90% of his own stunts in the film. And he learned and memorized the nightclub fight sequence the day that the scene was filmed.
Vigoo died.
That knife went into his subclavicular artery. He'll bleed to death in minutes.
"Be seeing you" is just a "goodbye" and in this case, it's "goodbye forever" to a dying man.
*Subclavian, but I’m going to assume that was autocorrect. EMT?
he´ll meet him again when john comes down to hell...
after all, satan will come personally, to collect his soul
"Be seeing you (in hell)."
"Be Seeing You"... COULD also potentially be a long throw callback to "The Prisoner".. ( A TV series in the 1960s where there was "The Village".. A place to put ex spies and assassins who "retired" or "quit"..) --- Whenever someone would part ways, they would say "be seeing you". ---- The idea of "The Village", was that these people could live out their lives and have NO ONE to tell their secrets to other than other residents who were never going to leave or escape..

I LOVE that movie.
What a wholesome movie about the love between a man and his dog.
The character "Winston", the hotel manager, was played by Ian McShane. He started on TV in England and had a BBC series called "Lovejoy" about an antiques dealer who was always getting involved in mysteries. It was a very good series and where I first was introduced to him.
Ian was also Mr. Wednesday (the god Oden) in a series called "American Gods" which was a major mind f**k. 😂
He is also great in Deadwood.
Great series

One gold coin is the equivalent of one favor. Getting into the Continental, cleaning up one body, guarding one hostage, etc. In this society, they still deal with cash (the bounty on John is $2M) but they have this side currency that can buy things that real money can't.
then there is the Debt that we find out about in later movies.
Notice just how many coins John had buried under the concrete at the start.
She is a content creator of focus, commitment and sheer f'ing will.
The dark-haired guy at the Continental Hotel is the manager. The hotel is a no kill zone.
Some fun details that show they cared about this movie and John's characterisation:
-Vigo asks for expensive vodka to make his son drink, only to make him throw it back up again, knowing the expensive stuff hurts going down and hurts just as much coming up again.
-John is incredibly tactical, and people frequently mistake it for sadism, such as leaving Vigo's son alive while killing the helpless guard he just pushed through a towel rack. You said he was leaving him until last, but when you consider his options are a trained killer with his hands free two feet from his face or a half-naked unarmed man across the room, he chooses the practical option. He could get revenge now, but he may not make it out of the room to enjoy his success.
-Vigo told John "No more guns" to instigate a bravado fuelled fist fight because he's egotistical. John responded with "No more *bullets*" implying not that he's entering a dick measuring contest, but that if he had ammo left, he'd have already shot him. We see more of this in the sequels where his "pencil" myth is expanded on more. People mythologise him, thinking he'll use the most impressively absurd means possible to kill someone, opting for the coolest thing in the room. But John is practical, and he doesn't choose weapons based on how cool they are, simply by how close the nearest lethal object is to him at any present moment. He'd use his hands if it was more convenient.
-Vigo was stabbed in a major artery in his shoulder. He died there and then from blood loss and shock. A frequent thing in these movies is that when someone dies, they simply act like they'll come back from it, or see John in the afterlife by saying "Be seeing you" rather than anything more definite.
-John took a stab wound below his diaphragm, which if he even slightly nicked could collapse his lung, just to brace Vigo's arm against *his own ribcage* so he could break it and take the knife.
Random aside, have you noticed how many Keanu Reeves characters are named some variant of "John" yet? John Wick, Johnny Pneumonic, Johnny Silverhand, John Constantine, Jack Traven, Johnny Utah, Johnathan Harker, Jack-be-nimble... just a fun detail.
Mnemonic, not Pneumonic. Memory, not lung.
I was with you on everything except one.... The "sadism" comment.... (Im not saying John is a sadist, just using that to reference what comment Im referring to)
I have to agree with Ashleigh on this one. John took a long enough pause when killing that guard, where it was pretty obvious he could've easily killed Vigo's son right then without any real risk to himself. No, I do think John wanted to put the fear into Vigo's son, letting him know what would be happening to him very soon. The rest of your comments were good. And I totally missed the fact that Reeves played so many characters named John or something close to that.
@@jeremybr2020, At that moment, John's eyes were filled with intent, to punish Viggo's son, I agree
The most incredible thing about this movie was the worldbuilding. They do it perfectly, with hints and suggestion, showing and not telling, that there's a whole story already going on before the first scene.
John Wick was filmed as a one off, no one knew how much of a lightning in a bottle they had as it broke even at the bix office, but it wasn't until Chapter 1 hit streaming/video release it became an instant cult hit.
Vigo died, Ashley. John stabbed him in a fatal spot.
Yeah the knife possibly punctures his lung, but most likely severed the main Vein coming down his neck which is why he died rather quickly.
Thank you, I was looking for this comment. I was thinking I might need to edit my own comment to add this if I didn’t see it.
@@phobiaone306other possibilities was the aorta (less likely based on the position) or the subclavian artery.
I just love that whole sequence at 7:10. "So you struck my son, huh? Well, let me tell you what I'm...wait...he did what? To WHO? Um...never mind." Hangs up. "We're all gonna die."
Viggo's 'oh' spoke VOLUMES! 😂
Also the "-What did he say? -Enough" after John hang up the phone without saying a word
Apparently, Keanu Reeves pioneered the active flicking the pistol to make the magazine pop out faster. Like, professional shooters copied HIS move after seeing this movie, because it actually works to reduce reload time.
No, that's been a thing for some time in various ways. Even before this movie came out it was common to flip the butt to the side (still up in the sight line) as you release the mag in order to impart momentum and clear it from where your other hand is bringing up the next.
@chrismaverick9828 yeah, that's why I said apparently. It was something I saw in a TH-cam short some time ago.
"He knows where all the bodies are buried."
He buried them.
nope he just made their dinner reservations
Francis (the huge security guard) was played by WWE wrestler Kevin Nash. When he told John that he had lost 60 pounds, he was using code language to tell him how many security guards Iosef had in the building.
More people would probably pick up on that if they had left the subtitles saying what he actually said (20 kilograms...which btw is nowhere near 60 pounds) instead of converting it into totally useless information for the sake of not having Americans whine that they don't know what a kilogram is.
Ashleigh, we all cried at the beginning of John Wick... some of us bawled at the end too ❤
I love that, as a watcher of movies, I'm never quite sure if I'm getting Willem Dafoe or Willem Dafriend
Lol
that's terrible. Well done :)
I love how John Wick reloads his gun. He flicks it to the side so the old clip flies out, then slams the new clip in. That’s something Keanu Reeves came up with on his own.
kinda, Keanu added it to the movie but competition shooters have been evolving a similar style of reload since the 80's. Taran Butler taught him so it makes sense.
Way back when, it was a vertical bump/shake the get the mags inertia moving down and out before hitting the release, later it developed into a sideways flick to clear the mag well and have it orientated for fresh mag insertion, Keanu definitely added flair to it though.
It’s an adaptation of a reload technique that I know was in use for rifles many years before the movie. If Keanu came up with that move independently, then kudos for his having come to the same conclusions as other before. It’s just as likely that his rifle training included that, though, and he had that in mind when he was working on the pistol scenes.
It was around long before the movie.
Viggo was smoking in the back seat knowing he was going to die.
And laughing because he is being chased by John Wick who never fails.
Fear accompanies the possibility of death. Calm shepherds its certainty.
No one ever seems to realize that when Viggo stabs John at the end of the movie, John redirects the knife into his *existing wound*, so the stab doesn't do any more damage than has already been done to him.
The way john Wick moves while fighting is so cool. The conservation of movement is very refreshing to see in a non martial arts movie.
"The beginning of this movie has me really sad" - Ashleigh's most awesomely timed statement in the first 3 minutes. lol
04:30 UH OH!! In light of this new information, this is going to go worse. 😬
Yeeeaaah.
Just thinkin' the same thing. 😬
What he said. Yikes.
They meant this to be a one off movie. No sequel planned or expected.
Then the box office came in.
And I came in at Chapter 2 on TV one day so I had to backtrack. Immediately hooked so 3 and 4 were watched in the theatre. Love them. Love them all (paraphrase but IYKYK).
Should have stopped after 3. 4 was such a let down
4 was good I liked it
To each their own. I personally think it should have ended after the first cause, as good as the rest are, it just feels like a good stopping point.
Why do so many people think that he lets Viggo live in the end, you just watched him die with a knife in his neck. Is it the being see you John line? He meant I'll be seeing you in hell. What all their dialogues have been about, that they've both bad men who are going to end up in the same place.
Based on what I've heard from other reactors, a lot of people don't realize there's a major artery in that spot and so they think it looks like a wound you'd recover from (especially with the relatively small size of the knife). I like that this movie doesn't spell everything out -- and it would've been goofy for them to put a line of dialogue explaining that Viggo took a knife in his subclavicular artery and was bleeding out -- but it def confuses a lot of people. I think it probably doesn't help that, in most movies, the trope is that a shoulder wound isn't fatal and is treated like a simple flesh wound. Like, whenever an action movie wants to show the hero in trouble during the big climactic fight, they'll take a gunshot to the shoulder and then (no pun intended) shrug it off for the rest of the movie.
@@johnplaysgames3120 Not saying they should add a line or that people should understand anatomy better. He visibly dies on screen, his eyes glaze over you see him stop breathing, do people think he's just having a bit of a teenage sulk at the end. I put it down to people not paying attention and that line going over their head. Just makes me laugh when people think it's sequel bait and not the cool thematic earned ending it's meant to be.
Vigo was dead at the end. His “Be seeing you John” was meant to be be seeing you in hell since they both agreed they are cursed men.
Granted the way it went down it wasn’t clear that he’s dead.
Or it's an homage to The Prisoner. 😂
I've seen John Wick probably 30 times. We all cried or got emotional about the dog. The revenge story is is why we love a "bad" guy.
@joe66692. Alfie Allen has such a punchable face ;-) Fantastic casting.
"everyone and everything you love will eventually come to an end" yeah, something I've struggled with in recent years, watching my parents get into their 80s, and then my dad died suddenly two months ago. Now I'm petrified every time I look at my mother, seeing how old she looks. I'm not ready. I'm really, really not ready.
6:47 we all did Ash. But like John we will use it to fuel the flames of vengeance.
The John Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called "Mill Neck" (At the end of Horse Shoe road right by the water.) -- The air field that John practices on is at Republic Airport in Farmingdale. -- The building used for the exterior of the hotel is at 1 Wall Street, NYC. -- The fountain where Ms. Perkins gets hers is the Bethesda fountain and promenade in Central Park.
Damn! Those assassins be everywhere!
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 --- When you see the houses in Mill Neck... You really start to wonder what the people who own them do for a living.. ;)
Wonder if Ashleigh realizes that the guy running the chop shop is the same actor who plays Chi chi Rodriguez in Too Wong Foo.
Apparently when the doorman tells John that he lost sixty pounds it was code for there are 60 bodyguard in there.
The man drinking the martini in the club was the manager of that hotel, there are hotels for these assassins around the world where they can go and be safe. The gold coins are the currency in this world used to pay for everything.
Viggo was stabbed in the subclavian artery. Because the collarbone prevents it from being effectively compressed if you try to apply pressure from the outside, you have to go in surgically and tie or clamp the artery off to stop the bleeding. Without anyone on the spot to do that, Viggo is going to bleed to very quickly. So quickly in fact that grabbing someone from between with one hand over their mouth and nose and stabbing a knife into the subclavian artery with the other hand was one of the sentry removal techniques they used to teach in military hand to hand combat.
It's the same killing wound at the end of Gladiator
Viggo died. There's a pretty major artery that runs through that part of your shoulder. Even leaving the knife in, in the rain, after all the alcohol, and so much exertion, he would've bled out in a minute or two. That's why he started losing consciousness right as John was walking away.
@3:51 🥺🥹 your eyes😂😂😂😂I knew it was gonna hit you right there🤣love from Texas ❤️
An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.
"If You Don't Have Allstate Insurance, You May End Up Paying Because Of Mayhem.....Like Him"
This movie almost never got made; an investor backed out shortly before filming was to start. Eva Longoria of all people heard about it, loved the script, and put up six million of her own the day before they would have had to release everyone. She calls it the best money she's ever spent.
Best investment ever made.
One of my favourite action movie, it took me completely by surprise when I saw it in the theatre when it came out, the world building is incredible and it gets even better in the follow-up movies.
20:33 That is a Kel-Tec KSG. It is a 12 ga pump-action shotgun, but what is particularly cool is that it has two separate tube magazines and a lever to switch between them. Aside from increasing total capacity, one could load, say, slugs into one magazine and buckshot into the other for greater versatility in a single platform. If you like the idea but don't like Kel-Tec, Smith and Wesson also makes a similar shotgun, the M&P 12 (although you will be paying half again as much for it).
I was about to say that.
I’ve got one that frequently sits next to my Dad Chair in me ManCave.
Damn nice gun if I do say so myself. 😁👍😈
I have a Standard Manufacturing DP12, with two mag tubes and two barrels. Pump once, shoot twice. It's easy with some practice. The DP is so heavy and bulky, when you pick it up there's no way you'd mistake it for any other pump gun and revert to single pump muscle memory
@ haven’t seen that one… interesting idea
Im not sure if my aging arse can handle too much more weight though.
I dig how a movie review turned into ShotgunJabber™️🤣
*John Didn't Let Viggo Live* - There's a big artery in the spot where John stabbed Viggo and he let Viggo bleed out. That's why you see Viggo go vacant-eyed and slump over at the end. Viggo's gone, baby, gone. There will be no sequels for Viggo.
*How Did Viggo Know Marcus Helped John?* - Perkins was following John and saw him talk to Marcus on the bridge (or wherever that was). As we then saw, she reported back to Viggo.
*Why Did Winston (the owner of the Continental) Tell John Where To Find Viggo?* By offering a contract to hit-people and doubling the bounty if they were willing to break the rules of the Continental to kill John inside it, Viggo disrespected the Continental. Winston can't be letting people get away with breaking the rules of the Continental, otherwise the rules mean nothing. So, in addition to revoking Perkins' membership (and her life), he didn't protect Viggo's information/location.
*Why Didn't John Make Iosef Suffer More Before He Killed Him?* I mean, he did keep him running for his life for a while, so there's that. But, tbh, I love that John simply shot him without even letting him finish his final sentence. It was a sign of just how little John respected Iosef that he didn't even let him finish speaking. That was exactly how much Iosef mattered. He didn't get to have a final monologue or throw out a final insult like a big bad. John just killed him like he was nothing, because he was.
Thank you for the explanation. I hope she reads. I hate it when people doesn't understand the context.

Ashleigh, I feel obligated to mention that it is very likely that John's wife was a veterinarian. I didn't catch it on my first watch, or even my third watch of this movie. But the fourth time, that flash at the beginning of John's wife collapsing next to the rail made me remember the same railing on the left at the end of the movie when John was walking away with his new dog outside of the vet.
John knew her vet practice was nearby, and that he could get medical supplies there.
She saved animals, and he killed people. He left that life for her, and he couldn't save her.
Other than Infinity War / Endgame, John Wick is probably the one movie released in the last decade that I have enjoyed the most. The style, the action, the worldbuilding. Just incredible filmmaking.
What's even more incredible??!? This movie is now OLDER than a decade old. Let *that* sink in for a moment! lol
John Wick was such a breath of fresh air in the action movie genre.
I don't mind over-the-top action once in a while, but overall prefer this more 'realistic' style. The first time I saw this type of action was in the Bourne movies - which could also be a good idea for Franchise Friday.
Anyway, since you mentioned Scifi and Action as the two things you enjoy - Alita Battle Angel is exactly that ;)
I've always read the driving at the semis as John trying to erm... unalive himself but the puppy being there stops him.
It also displayed his driving skills.
The puppy isn't in the car at the airport. If you watch the gas station scene, you'll see all the toys and supplies John bought for her in the backseat, but that's all gone at the airport. He left her at home. I agree though that he was about to off himself and stopped just in time, and also working out his anger and grief.
I think it's a bit like Riggs near the beginning of Lethal Weapon, he's still deciding if "today" is worth living through? I've found this holds more meaning for me since 2021.
I've always just taken it as John blowing off steam. His wife died literally days before and he's still dealing with his grief. It's like when other people are frustrated or sad or whatever and go hit a punching bag for a while or run or whatever activity allows them to vent some of those emotions. John, a professional hitman with a particular set of skills, goes out and drives like a madman.
"...my future EX-husband..."?! 🤣😅😂 THANK YOU for giving my day A HUGE SMILE! 👍😁
Beagles are adorable but OMG are they self-destructive! My wife had one as a kid, and it ran out the yard and immediately got hit by a car. They are bred to run free and bark at things in the woods. Not so great when you don't live in the woods!😢😂
True, my dad had 2 of them when i was younger and they would hop the fence and take off every time we let them out and we lived in the city so im sure you can guess what happened to them.
They have a great personality and size for a family dog, but like you said, I wouldn't recommend them for someone living in the suburbs. I had a pair when I lived on a farm, and they were great for that. There was plenty of room for them to follow their noses and get into trouble without ever leaving the property. They once came running back to the house with coyotes hot at their heels, once they reached the barnyard, they turned around and chased the coyotes right back to where they came from.
When I was a kid it took us forever to teach my beagle(named Scooby) not to chase cars. My grandfather eventually trained him just in time for someone to steal him not once but twice . The first time Scooby made his way home. We knew who did it (a redneck hunting family) but could never prove it.
That song from the bathhouse scene is amazing. Perfect tempo for the scene.
the coins are basically the underworld currency for assassins, russian mob, and the High Table (youll learn more about them in the sequels) each coin is worth about $2000 they go more into detail in the prequel series that takes place in the 70s called The Continental

An early Keanu Reeves film that no one talks about is the dark drama “River’s Edge”, based on a true story. Highly recommend.
Keanu went through so much training for this movie. He’s very proficient in firearms. The trainer said that it got to the point that Keanu could’ve started teaching him. The director noticed Keanu flicking his gun when he would eject a clip and asked Keanu what he was doing and Keanu said it seemed like a faster way to reload by essentially throwing the clip out of the gun. He does the majority of action scenes in this series. Keanu said in an interview that he doesn’t do “stunts” he does “action” scenes cause he’s not a stuntman. Keanu started The director used to be his stunt man back in The Matrix days so he knows what Keanu is able to do. 5:25 depends on the hanger. There’s different types of doors. 11:56 the coins are payment and a form of ID to show that you belong there. 12:22 Winston is such a great character. Ian McShane was a great choice for the role. 13:12 he was telling John how many were in the club. 13:23 Keanu learned the fight choreography for the club scene the same day it was shot and was sick with a high fever which makes the scene knowing that even better. The only thing Keanu didn’t do during the club fight was falling off the balcony. They used the club lights to hide the switch between Keanu and the stunt double. 22:05 the management is Winston who John was talking to to try and get info on Viggo’s son. They work under a high table who created the rules. 24:13 I think Winston sees John as a son. 24:27 yeah but don’t you know size doesn’t matter (at least that’s what some women say). 25:19 because he realized that Viggo didn’t reload his gun after killing Marcus. 26:19 yeah he guided the blade to his previous wound to get the blade and to not get a separate wound where it could’ve been fatal.
Finally, derpy crying is my fav.
Ashleigh you are such a sweetie. When you were telling the story about having a beagle when you're a kid and that's your grandpa accidentally ran over it and started laughing. God bless you young lady. God bless you deeply
This movie is great, and its first sequel is so good that even the presence of Ruby Rose can’t diminish it.
"The beginning of this movie is really sad!"
🎶B-b-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-nothing yet🎶
In this movie he's Willem DeFriend! :D
Sorry to disappoint you, but Viggo did die and so did the Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist that played Viggo. He died the same year as John Wick chapter 2 came out. 2nd movie got a different plot.
Marcus like many of the assassins in the John Wick world have lots of money, dont think Marcus wanted or needed the 2 million form Viggo, and its wasnt exclusive contract to him, it was the same amount to all.
I've always been partial to the menace of Mel Gibson's 'Payback'
'If I tell you, he's going to kill me...'
"What do you think I'm going to do to you ? Worry about me."
I love Payback. I consider it my favorite Mel Gibson movie, but that might not be entirely true. I probably like the Lethal Weapon series better, but those movies have to share. Payback stands alone.
@@chrissmalley83I always thought it was funny that they keep getting how much money he wants wrong. They can't believe he is raising hell over such a small amount of money.
such a great one....
About funerals, when my dear niece was buried we all stood around as they lowered her casket. I was bawling, but I was thankful for the closure in that moment. Actually seeing it go down was what helped me heal.
Great movie. Didn't need 20 sequels.
Welcome, Ashleigh, to the Assassinverse!
Got a beagle named Mabel in late 2015. Saw John Wick 1-3 during Covid quarantine in 2020 and little Daisy looked a lot like Mabel at that age. I wanted to hug Mabel after the home invasion scene
Sadly, Mabel has a heart murmur/leaky valve because of genetics and age and it is very likely she will not be with us throughout the year.😢
Ashleigh was not prepared for the saddest first ten minutes of a movie in the history of movies.
It's a toss-up between John Wick and UP.
@@TarossBlackburn Very true.
This is one of those movies I wish I could go back and see it again like it was the first time.
The first time I saw this movie was in theaters and all I knew about it was it had Keanu Reeves and he's in a suit and has a gun from the movie poster. Hadn't seen any trailers or anything. Plus I feel like they really dialed up the sound of the gunfire in the theaters because I felt every one of them in my bones.
The whole series is pretty great, but the first John Wick for sure is one of the best action movies I've seen in a long time.
Anyone who likes animals cried at the dog, we just didn't film ourselves so don't feel bad.
"Grosse Point Blank" is about what hit men do together. Love it! : )
Love this! John Cusack - I feel like I grew up with this guy! GPB soundtrack is so good, they made two! Thanks, now I gotta go watch it lol
SPEAKING OF JAMES BOND....Why did you dump it before the good ones?!
"People keep asking if it should come back, YEAH I think it should come back"
3:51 Huh and yeah, mebbe
4:00 .......so like and subscribe? 😐
6:11 Yeah John Wick is a real "feel good" movie
Something I think they do really well in this series is how there is a main story in this first one, but it leaves some vague hints that open up questions, like "Why are the police OK with this?" and "Why is he paying with that coin?" and they kind of dig deeper in the sequels to explore more of the world that is there and how it is like a secondary world behind the curtain that the people involved do know about but common citizens on the street do not know about.
Another great action film[almost a female version of John Wick]is Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron[who was in a couple of films with Reeves. The fight scenes with Theron are awesome.
My wife loves Atomic Blonde.
So will Ashleigh.
“Is this movie gonna make me cry?” Yes, yes it will.
Viigo didn't live. He told John "be seeing you" (in hell)
This is one of the best movie series. I'm glad you started down this road. The 1st one was expected. Especially with the dog.
"I think the John Wick movies have action...?" I laughed so hard when she said that.
When Francis said to John at the Red Circle he lost 60+ kilograms, it was a code phrase for how many people were in the building
John Wick is a rich tapestry, a world revealed as the movies go on. But this movie is only the beginning of Keanu Reeves action talent. The Matrix movies showcase his best, I love Devil's Advocate. But his softer movies I like as well. Sweet November and The Lake House are two I love. But Speed is the best of his early stuff. I can't wait to see you loving the rest of the John Wick franchise. To me it's one of the best in modern cinema.
I am praying for Ballerina to be good
I'll take Point Break over Speed.
"Well, he stopped playing the video game." 🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh! I got so excited about this popping up in my notifications! If you liked this one, you will LOVE the sequels, they just get better and better and better! ❤️😍
I disagree that they get better, but they do maintain a level of quality worth watching.
This is a perfect film. I love it so much. The action, the drama, the nigh mythological level of mystery surrounding the criminal underworld, the vengeance - its just so satisfying.
Speed was the other movie you saw Keanu Reeves in. I loved him in that movie when I first saw it years ago
20:30 That gun is a Kel-Tec KSG12. It's a "bullpup" shotgun.
Bullpup guns have a frame made to be as compact as possible, with the reciever far behind in the stock, while still having a decent barrel length for accuracy
John killed Viggo, he didn't let him live. Stabbed him in the sub-clavian artery.
Came to post this.
The Continental tv show is a prequel to the movies, it's about Winston's rise within the organization to become the Manager of the Continental Hotel, it's set in the 1970s. You also learn why John's '69 Mustang was as important to him as Daisy was. The first episode is practically a stand-alone movie itself.
If you're doing the John Wick universe don't forget to include 'Nobody' with Bob Odenkirk, really fun film that exists in the same universe (as shown by the same gold coins and confirmed by the director)
- Oh, that's interesting, I was not aware of that. I haven't seen it, is it any good? And for clarity, I am asking if it is on the level of the John Wick series good.
@@Arthaius Definitley worth watching if you've never seen it!! It's John Wick with more humour.
I’m emotional for a silly reason… I’ve watched you since 2020… And… It's a first for me… You’re watching something I’ve never seen! 🥹 Love your heart, girl. Between the dog in this one and your empathy for The Elephant Man… Just commenting to send LOVE your way!
