I love this. Gonna steal this idea! Any reason why you used the table saw rather than the band saw to resaw the piece with the magnets in it?

Yeah, my bandsaw doesn't have a big enough clearance for that piece. Bandsaw would have been easier if it would fit.

Very nice, clean design. Does the chisel acquire magnetism over time, and if so, does it cause any issues with, e.g., sharpening? Thanks for sharing.

From what i read before building it, no. It's not right on the magnet. it just has a small amount of pull, enough to keep from falling off, but ask me again in a year. :)

What kind, source and size magnets did you use? Going embed magnets, then 1/16" thk venier over. Want the Goldilox strength magnet. Good build and vid. Thx

1:03 Have to point out, this is very unsafe. I know from first hand experience. Did exactly this, got kickback and the saw went straight through the fingernail and bone of my middle finger. Took almost half a year until i got most of the use of that finger back and even that was entirely due to the skilled hand surgeoun I had the fortune to catch on duty at the local hospital that day. Only reason I even still have that finger, albeit with permanent nerve damage and an interesting scar is because I did this on a tiny Proxxon table saw that has a much smaller blade. This large table saw you're using would mostly leave piecemeal of that finger.

But sorry, don't want to criticise your video! I'm already planning to make a chisel rack similar to what you are making there. Thank you for sharing :)

Good call, I should have had the piece secured down and raised the blade into it to be safer.
