That is very true. After the cold first two weeks in June it was hot and dry for the rest of the summer. As you say 1976 was hot and dry all summer, but it was 1977 when it rained all year. Why do these TH-cam posters not check their facts before posting their glaring falsehoods? If the poster had listened carefully to Hargreaves in this clip it is clear he was talking about 1977 as being the wet year with the drought year (1976) coming the year before!
@@alangeorgebarstow Even in 1977 , the rain was mainly in the SW , elsewhere good dry spells .Nothing exceptional . British weather is notoriously regional .
@@alangeorgebarstow I moved to Buxton in 1977 and don't recall anything exceptional , mind you I got married that year ! I was relying on Met Office yearly summaries to refresh my memory .
In he UK 1974 was a very wet Summer,I should know because of kayaking on our farm and I have a day to day record of it,75 and 76 were both dry and hot.
I think the maker of this video would agree with you. Back in 1988, and the early 90s, they also used to call it the 'greenhouse effect'. More recently it's climate emergency! 👎
It is essential in thinking about this subject to differentiate between weather and global climate. Weather is local and has always and always will vary a lot from year to year. Climate is the complex jigsaw of what’s going on over the globe. With global warming some places will get colder due to changes in ocean currents - the UK is likely to be such a place. This is well established scientific knowledge, proven by many years of observation and experiments.
@rodderz5615 - Global warming is starting to destabilise the Gulf Stream, which usually makes UK winters milder and wetter than other parts of northern Europe. Due to the destabilised jet stream, the reason for recent colder temperatures is because the jet stream is further south than normal for this time of year and is bringing cooler drier air from the north, over the UK.
The Gulf Stream destabilised 🤣🤣🤣 so explain how that happened? Did this global warming kick it. What does it look like? I’m sure you have a picture in your little mind 😉
That's not climate change. That is the weather, and they are two totally different things.
Exactly. A complete misunderstanding of Climate. But the Jack Hargreaves Out of Town footage was great.
If the government keeps persistantly telling you something its usually a lie
2022 was much worse in terms of heat and fires, and this Autumn is incredibly wet
Which is program when I was a child nice to see them again
Totally agree!
I went to New Forest in summer 1976 and lots of it was green. It must have done something to the wasps i ended up with a swarm in me hair--ouch
1975 was a dry warm Summer in England, 1976 was very dry and warm, it was 1974 that was the wet one not 1975!
Certainly did not rain all year in 1975 . Snowed in Buxton in June . I remember good hot spells , exceeded by 1976 drought .

@@victorpearson1418 I beg to differ. In 1977 I lived in North-East Derbyshire and I can assure you it was a soggy summer there. The sun seldom shone.

Great memories, 😊
In East Lancs it was a very good summer indeed,it was 1974 that was very wet indeeAlso I have records.
You're absolutely right.
I remember as a 13 year old boy, 1975 being a very nice summer down in London.
Looks like he uses a Mitchell match , I had one lol
Winter 1962/3, they said a new ice age coming!
Carry on jack 🐿️

Because the government uses things like HARP AND CLOUD ALTERING PROCESSES
Just geoengineering
Yes...that almost 50 years ago...and what change..we learning maybe.
Aside to the global warming with eons the hottest temperatures to date 8 degrees highest Triassic & Jurassic and the ice ages 20 degrees lower.
It’s the accelerating trend in climate change over several years rather than the weather of individual years that points to a problem surely?
It's people being told what to think by the media.
