      I want you to build this engine. I mean, we all know it's not worth it, but I want to really see what you can do when you build a really sweet bike. Like, powder coat the frame, make it look like a new type of deal. It's a shitbike already. You're only going to make your money back or a few hundred dollars exta anyway. Why no challenge yourself? I want to see you challenge yourself. I don't want every video of the project, so do like 1 week of project bike and the next one you find and back and forth. Do you burn us out.

      Depends on how much it costs to rebuild the entire motor plastics tires etc I'd imagine getting this bike back basically new would cost around 2 grand which wouldn't be a terrible deal considering you would know everything that needed to be is new and not going out buying a used bike and having to take a chance on it being a dud lol and costing ya loads more cash than ya bargained for 😂 Bikes are like boats and will all know what boat stands for

    I love the early 90s dirtbikes with their retro styling. Once you get her cleaned up and running, I’d love to see you put the original graphics on it and clean the frame up. It would look amazing! Great buy, great video, as always! 🤙

      Added that before I saw the insane amount of rust and engine damage. Yeah unfortunately I would part it out as well unless I had another yz250 project then I would make 1 good runner from both of them

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      retro styling was objective and functional. Not this abstract art from a transformers cartoon with arrow tips, (that not even the artist can explain), with a front fender that looks like a mechanical broken bird beak, and a rear fender that is so tall, pointing in the air, that you can't get a boot over it with out kicking it if you are 6 foot 2.
      The 80's and half the 90's were "the age of reason" in MX. The crap we ride today, (sans how good a 4-stroke does hook up to the ground), is 100% dysfunctional. The entire industry is so irrationals today,---you guys are racing with a freestyle bar set up---and you can't corner worth a crap with out a berm. There was a MX movie in 1986 called "Winner takes all" (on YT), and that ugly 'Hurricane bike" is your modern styling today. I did a lot of plastic surgery on my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, to make it a rational machine, instead a pile of worthless abstract art. That junk belongs in the garbage, like your handle bar set up. :)

A little trick for those cylinder jug bolts use the closed end of a second wrench and attach it to the open end of the wrench you were hammering on and it'll give you twice the leverage those nuts always loosen up pretty easy for me using that method no need to hammer the wrench and vibrate your fingers to death lol. That’s the nicest $300 dolor bike that’s ever been purchased. The rims are worth more than that alone. And embarrassed to mention the price, dude you should be stoked!! 600 to fix everything from new top end, read, carb, and weld the silencer, new air filter and used missing plastics, you’ll have a thorough bred classic that’ll deff be a ripper that you prolly already know, and why ya risked the long drive. . But based on the condition of the engine and the bottom of the frame that bike was not ridden hard at all. Just owned by someone who didn’t care for riding or his bikes, I grew up with my buddy who had the 126 pink from 92 and that bike would wheelie through5 gear’s. But the former owner should be ashamed and never allowed to own another bike after seeing that air box, but that disgusting type of mess was somewhat typical in older airboxes, and the head look. You should just through oil in there and a carb and give er a kick, and spray some starter fluid in there and take for a rip

    I paid 300 for my 2005 CRF450R. It had a bad motor, top and bottom end. One wrench rabbit rebuild kit later and i have one hell of a ripping machine.

    I love WD40 as much as the next guy. But what a waist of it. Buy a 20l of diesel and use that in cylinder and case. I have a spare quad engine sitting in my shop for last 2 yrs I keep topped up with diesel and its mint. It's an oil, WD40 is a lubricant of sorts but also a water and moisture displacer, it will dry out your gaskets if your not replacing them.

    I've got a hunch that these deals hes finding are fake. No way in hell would you be able to get a complete bike like that anywhere for less than 1,000. Especially a yz250

    Bought a 92 KDX 250 for $800 and yeah it’s kinda got the same thing with the rain but it was ran till death, some idiot before this guy got it back decided to melt the crank needle bearings and ruin the cyclinder head in the process, then try to work on it and just fucked it up, like peices missing left and right, then guy fisnlly gave it back to the original owner who then sold it to me, yeah it’s rough shape but I’m in love with it and completely doing a full restoration rebuild upgrade

    I have left side case and a cylinder some other stuff probably. You'll get your money back in that cylinder and pv . Lots people looking for those pv's. I did a 89 few years ago way worse than that but wasn't cheap. Little vid on my channel of it I think back before I got hurt

    Lmao thought you can fix everything? it's not really that hard to fix that motor at all. All new bearings and seals vapor blast the motor parts and rebuild or get a crank and weld up that case crack. But nope gunna part it our which is a waste of a bike never gunna sell it all. I'd buy it complete from you lemme know I will make the drive from IL.

  • @_yeager

    It could be fixed, but it would take a lot of time, gaskets, bearings, seals, rod kit plus extras it would end up costing $1000 just in parts to get a bike that wasn’t anything special. It’s as if it was submerged and left a season in a river.

    Imagine that chassis with a air cooled 490 2 stroke in it, aka 1992 WR500, last 2 stroke open class bike produced by Yamaha, I sold it about 2 years ago, I was a pretty good bike for the desert, it got too hot on a track and it was too much to handle in tight woods

    That would be completely half ass to rebuild that motor and just throw new rings on that piston wtf 😂 smh you paid 300 you can rebuild that motor top to bottom including new fly wheel etc plus plastics chain sprocket tires grips etc and you'll still turn a profit. Respect the old school 2 strokes a little more bro!!!

    WD-40 is waterproofing, you need rust penetrant/lubricant like PB Blaster.
