I think people can't wrap their heads around the fact that not everyone wants to be super famous. He seems like he's happy and just does things that speak to him or seem fun. His manager probably got him great deals for his roles and he manages his money well. I think Taylor works better with the right director. I think the director for New Moon worked well with him and that is where I think he did a lot better. Some actors are always the same kind of gangster or the same comedian in a string of movies. I rewatch a show only for a certain actor and ignore the critics star rating. Hollywood realize that his popularity was based on his abs and not acting but they thought that all the tweens who scream for him in Twilight would flood the theaters to see Abduction and when that didn't happen they were done with him. He will never reach that kind of stardom again. Stick a fork in him because he was done 5 years ago.
He didn't just disappear in cuckoo. They explained why he left in the show, and it worked.
