He was in a locally popular British comedy called Cuckoo not too long ago, where he was (in my opinion) absolutely hilarious-it fit his acting range really amazingly well. I hope that he's in a place where he can heal and that he's living his best life now✨

Abduction killed his career. He demanded 10 million dollars, and when the movie flopped people realized he was not a safe investment and not worth his price tag. If he would done the Rob route and done smaller movies and focus on films that improved his acting instead if being an action star, that's what would have keep his career to have longevity. He wanted to be an action star, but also refused to be a sex icon when to a degree he went with it, and then wondered why fans weren't loyal when he kept his shirt on. Also his acting in general is subpar at best.
@Journey Danielle that's true but you also have to consider the fact that the Twilight franchise wasn't meant to elevate actors like that and even readers on a psychological level. That's why the books were widely panned from authors to critics. They were viewed as shallow and limited in scope. So it's not like Lautner didn't see his fate coming since he was at the age to have recognized what the franchise would extract on a mental level. However, I get that he was young and just wanted to be in something great.

You're not the only one. Even in Harry Potter you could see Rob's range. Though it's important to remember Taylor was only a teenager at the time and Rob was in his early 20s during Twilight. Rob had more acting experience and knowledge of the industry (I think he said he was focusing on music and was couch surfing when he booked Twilight). He also didn't take Twilight seriously lol just used it to propel his career forward. I think because of his age Taylor got the impression he was better than he really was due to constant, perhaps blinded, praise for his role as Jacob. People are constantly railing on Kristen Stewart, but her indie stuff is pretty good. She and Rob have always gone the more indie route (Twilight was supposed to be an indie project at first) which allowed them to become better actors. I should have clarified that I meant he didn't take the source material seriously, as in he didn't really like the message of the books, but was committed to the character. So committed to the point that he almost got fired for giving unsolicited notes on the first film if I remember correctly. Twilight was right up his indie film alley before it blew up. If we were to compare the main 3 from Twilight - Kristen, Robert, and Taylor - Kristen and Robert obviously had a bit more extensive acting experience than Taylor (albeit they were mainly indie films) and they had more serious roles. Taylor seems to enjoy comedies and he is actually pretty funny and fits well in comedies. I couldn't picture Kristen and Rob in the types of comedies Taylor has been in at the same time I couldn't picture Taylor being in the types of dramas/thrillers that Kristen and Rob have been in. You can just see how different they are when it comes to acting. Taylor just got completely type-casted as the hot guy and since he has a background in martial arts, also type-casted as the action guy. I really think enjoyable and easy to watch comedies are more up his alley, not to say that he shouldn't try his hand at dramas or something, because I would honestly love to see him do something totally different, but I can picture him continuing his career doing a fun comedy-type film every once in a while, just whenever he feels like it. He doesn't need to prove himself as some expert actor, I don't think he really cares about it that deeply. I think he just wants to enjoy his life which involves acting here and there, but he clearly doesn't want "actor" to completely define him.
Before watching this video, I kinda just assumed, based on his actions, that he was a really stuck-up person. But after watching your video and thinking about the situation deeper than the surface level... it seems that Taylor is actually probably really kind and genuine, and took a HARD hit to his mental health during his fame in Twilight. It's crazy to think how so many celebrities actually have regular issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, etc... and being famous can so easily make those problems worse. I'm so glad Taylor has such a good support system going for him. Not many child actors have that blessing ❤️

Kristen Stewart and Rob were driven; as well as Anna Kendrick. They obviously wanted the famous acting life more, if you still hear about them nowadays. Taylor Launter and fiance Taylor Dayne (not the singer) will be fine, as well as his healing hopefully; if not already healed, and his acting career. He's a talented dude no doubt and I think he made a great Jacob in Twilight, but I think he let his head swell a little too much after that. Yes, it was a successful franchise and one of the most iconic ones in film history but at that point him asking for upwards of $10 million for films after that was not warranted. He was well known but he wasn't known for his ACTING, just his popularity. After Abduction didn't do well, I believe that other studios didn't approach him for projects because they saw that his pull outside of twilight isn't worth an investment so Hollywood kind of sidelined him. He should have went the indie route like Pattinson and Stewart did. Do some underground or non-blockbuster films to build up your resume, acting skills, and step out of your comfort zone and then studios will see your range has improved and will more than be happy to invest in you and give you what you're worth. Now Robert is killing it with The Batman, and so is Kristen with Spencer (Academy Award nominated!). Taylor is still young and I believe that with the right moves, he can make a comeback!

I don’t wanna be mean, but he’s not a good actor. Like I’m happy that he’s in a better place mentally, but twilight was the best thing that could’ve happened to him. People would use the “bad acting” thing against Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson aswell, but their filmography before and after twilight proves that they were always proficient with their craft. Lautner’s looks and a shoutout in Taylor Swift’s Speak Now, was all he was gonna get.

What gets me about him is that he was only 16 and IMO gave an outstanding performance in Twilight. His acting was exceptional IMO. But often we care more about physical appearance than we do about ability. We all have a role to play in that and we should learn from him. Taylor is teaching us all a lesson in superficiality.

You're not the only one. Even in Harry Potter you could see Rob's range. Though it's important to remember Taylor was only a teenager at the time and Rob was in his early 20s during Twilight. Rob had more acting experience and knowledge of the industry (I think he said he was focusing on music and was couch surfing when he booked Twilight). He also didn't take Twilight seriously lol just used it to propel his career forward. I think because of his age Taylor got the impression he was better than he really was due to constant, perhaps blinded, praise for his role as Jacob. People are constantly railing on Kristen Stewart, but her indie stuff is pretty good. She and Rob have always gone the more indie route (Twilight was supposed to be an indie project at first) which allowed them to become better actors. Taylor wanted to jump right into being an action star, but didn't have the acting chops to back it up.

Robert Pattinson did take Twilight seriously. He may have not appreciated the source material, yet he committed himself to the process.
I think some people take his interviews literally and as a reflection of how he actual felt about Twilight as a whole. In reality, it was one of the best things to happen to his acting career - he’d admit that too.

I should have clarified that I meant he didn't take the source material seriously, as in he didn't really like the message of the books, but was committed to the character. So committed to the point that he almost got fired for giving unsolicited notes on the first film if I remember correctly. Twilight was right up his indie film alley before it blew up. He used the fame from it to propel his career forward. As he should've. He always gives Twilight it's flowers for how it contributed to his success.
He's a great actor but his downfall was not embracing the Twilight franchise to build on his presence.

If we were to compare the main 3 from Twilight - Kristen, Robert, and Taylor - Kristen and Robert obviously had a bit more extensive acting experience than Taylor (albeit they were mainly indie films) and they had more serious roles. Taylor seems to enjoy comedies and he is actually pretty funny and fits well in comedies. I couldn't picture Kristen and Rob in the types of comedies Taylor has been in at the same time I couldn't picture Taylor being in the types of dramas/thrillers that Kristen and Rob have been in. You can just see how different they are when it comes to acting. Taylor just got completely type-casted as the hot guy and since he has a background in martial arts, also type-casted as the action guy. I really think enjoyable and easy to watch comedies are more up his alley, not to say that he shouldn't try his hand at dramas or something, because I would honestly love to see him do something totally different, but I can picture him continuing his career doing a fun comedy-type film every once in a while, just whenever he feels like it. He doesn't need to prove himself as some expert actor, I don't think he really cares about it that deeply. I think he just wants to enjoy his life which involves acting here and there, but he clearly doesn't want "actor" to completely define him.

Before watching this video, I kinda just assumed, based on his actions, that he was a really stuck-up person. But after watching your video and thinking about the situation deeper than the surface level... it seems that Taylor is actually probably really kind and genuine, and took a HARD hit to his mental health during his fame in Twilight. It's crazy to think how so many celebrities actually have regular issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, etc... and being famous can so easily make those problems worse. I'm so glad Taylor has such a good support system going for him. Not many child actors have that blessing ❤️

I blame his agent honestly, Zac Efron did well for himself in the industry because he took on roles that let Hollywood take him seriously. Taylor was never meant for comedy, I think a Nicholas Sparks movie would have done him well

His Role In Scream Queens Is One of my Favorites
I was a preteen when the twilight movies came out so I was around the age demographic they aimed at but fucking hated both the movies and books but loved the soundtrack.I like vampire books and movies but not that one. As for Taylor Lautner,I mostly saw him as sharkboy than Jacob but thought he was very funny in other movies and was more than just a guy who played a hot werewolf.It's sad how he was typecasted as such but I am glad he moved away from that and is living a quiet life.The only reason Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was able to get away from typecasting was because of how they have more experience as actors and were able to develop over time.

At the end of the day it's the performer who is either driven or not. For an entertainer can be so awesome on the canvas by a team; yet if the entertainer ain't driven enough; due to anxiety as said in the video, and other stuff; if that affects you - then get da eff out; and come back when you can handle it; or hire a new team that meet your criteria; or go on a spiritual journey; in order to find where career worker wise you wanna go. Kristen Stewart and Rob were driven; as well as Anna Kendrick. They obviously wanted the famous acting life more, if you still hear about them nowadays. Taylor Lautner may or may not have been pushed to. It's called money making cash cow for the family perhaps? Like Britney? Who knows. Taylor Launter and fiance Taylor Dayne (not the singer) will be fine, as well as his healing hopefully; if not already healed, and his acting career. For it's all about the drive inside you that prevails from any setbacks; personally and professionally.
He's a talented dude no doubt and I think he made a great Jacob in Twilight, but I think he let his head swell a little too much after that. Yes, it was a successful franchise and one of the most iconic ones in film history but at that point him asking for upwards of $10 million for films after that was not warranted. He was well known but he wasn't known for his ACTING, just his popularity. After Abduction didn't do well, I believe that other studios didn't approach him for projects because they saw that his pull outside of twilight isn't worth an investment so Hollywood kind of sidelined him. He should have went the indie route like Pattinson and Stewart did. Do some underground or non-blockbuster films to build up your resume, acting skills, and step out of your comfort zone and then studios will see your range has improved and will more than be happy to invest in you and give you what you're worth. Now Robert is killing it with The Batman, and so is Kristen with Spencer (Academy Award nominated!). Taylor is still young and I believe that with the right moves, he can make a comeback!
