I disagree. It’s a lot better than what we have today. Manufacturers gave up on this design because they can get away with mimicking it. The 17x9 screen ratio is also way better but it’s more expensive to screw with the ratio so it’s not worth it to the manufacturers.

The only thing i disliked about the phone was the location of the front facing camera, seems like a weird spot to put a camera it can be easily covered with the hand imo.

Pretty difficult to find negative reviews regarding any Android product from this channel. Just put a high resolution screen on any Android product and it's basically free advertising over here.
I think what this really indicates is that Xiaomi are very serious now about bringing their products to markets like the US and EU. Given that their global version now includes all the 4G bands possible, it's pretty difficult to explain MKBHD getting his hands on a phone J+0 any other way.

And at this point in time, we arrived to a point where not so known chinese manufacturers provides top notch specs phone for half the price, and the big companies have to copy them. They were so comfy in their own world, selling overpriced techs, barely improving. Thanks god chinese manufacturers came in sight, they have to step up their games if they still want to rule every aspect of the market.

I do hope so as well, but XiaoMi took a lot of risk in this phone. They have been selling their flagship phones at 1999, 2999RMB price range (aout 299, 399) for a long time. They tried entering premium market but IIRC all of their earlier attempts failed. Hope they can grab this Samsung chance and get these wonderful phones out there this time.

Vlad Piero i have my redmi note 3, and my only complain so far is the camera quality in low light. But overall its good and i am also impressed with the battery life. So i guess this new phone models quality and performance have a resemblance with their ancestors👌 😊
camera quality is allways low with Xiaomi, but problem is build quality has also been lower in past 2 years, as is updates (with every new, they are noot fixing big problems on miui, but they also makes new problems on other sides). last truly good Xiaomi was Mi3.

Cons : Worst camera ever, rear and front camera. If they could have install another cameras into this, it would have been a beast. I sold it back in time. It's not worth today when you have so much more bezel less phones... Beside that, you only find used ones, not Brand New. Cheers

5o5kY 128GB is more than enough if you're mostly streaming stuff. There's probably very very few people who would fill that these days on their phone if you're not putting a lot of video or games on there. And personally I think sd card expandable storage is a bad idea. I've never had a smartphone that had sd card storage and managed it well.

Apple engineers have used specific parts on iphone 5s,6,6s that are manufactured by xiaomi company.Xiaomi offers very reliable products.I have a red mi note 3 pro and it is awesome.Never lags,battery lasts very long even on heavy usage.

+James Dingley Well of course Snapchat would take longer to open; it's not a secret they don't care about Android... the software doesn't look promising though. I really dislike skinned Android. Skins are uglier and slower and you usually don't get more than a few non-gimmicky features in return. With stock Android this thing would be insanely fast, although it'll probably be decently fast even with the skin tbh. The only other thing I dislike is the screen, which is 17:9 (why?!), 6.4" (too big), and 1080p (that's only 362ppi, or slightly above Apple levels).

In China, this phone is called on-sale concept phone, which means it is a smartphone that explores Xiaomi' s limit, but still a "perfect to be" phone. They show the best they can do right now, but it cannot be perfect! This is a design-lead phone(total ceramics covered body!), there are still some features need to be improved in the next generation. You cannot get a phone designed like this with high durability(think of iPhone7 jet black...), but try to see what this phone contributes to this boring smartphone market! BTW, Xiaomi Software support is amazing! Xiaomi 2S, which launched in 2013, is still in supporting!

Google is in charge of everything for the Pixel as of now. HTC was somewhat involved in early design stages but now all they're doing is manufacturing it. Blaming them for the feature set or pricing makes no sense. Google takes full responsibility.

All chinese hardware arrives in the UK to distribute over europe. Simply buy a chinese version at gearbest since you can change the language to english aswell. However, it usually comes with chinese bloatware which you can't remove so you have to flash the official global miui 8 rom. It's very simple but you have to unlock you have to register at xiaomi and unlock your device first (easy process). This takes a couple of days but after that the flashing only takes 10 minutes. Download the ROM, download the flashing tool, put your device into flashmode (hold on/off and volume down) and hit the flash button.
he is not totally wrong, storage is also named non-volatile memory if you wanna get technical, ram is random access memory.... it is called storage for phone since it is easier to swallow for average consumer.

I know I'm definitely late to the party. But I ended up buying one of these. It's such a BEAUTIFUL phone. The camera isn't amazing, but it takes good photos in good lighting. This phone is innovation! The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is rumored to be dropping soon... And if that phone comes out with a snapdragon 835, 6gb ram, 2k display, updated camera and software.... It will be the best phone on the market.. Period. I'm using this phone over my Samsung Galaxy S8 right now. They are two different worlds of phones.. But having innovation over typical phones people have these days is better to me in my own opinion. I've already had comments on this phone and they are just blown away.. It kind of sucks the U. S only sees Apple and Samsung because that's all that's really hardcore promoted around here. China needs to bring more phones over to the U.S. If any of you have questions about this phone, just let me know.. I'm a daily user of it and I am more than willing to answer some questions for you!

Vong Tran its because he's using some apps... thats why... actually when u boot your phone... the system will take around 30-40% percent of your ram to run the system... thats why he only get 3 gigs of ram... if he close all the apps that he's using... he will get around 4.5-4.9 gigs of ram... the rest was used by the system...

And personally I think sd card expandable storage is a bad idea. I've never had a smartphone that had sd card storage and managed it well.

Skins are uglier and slower and you usually don't get more than a few non-gimmicky features in return. With stock Android this thing would be insanely fast, although it'll probably be decently fast even with the skin tbh. The only other thing I dislike is the screen, which is 17:9 (why?!), 6.4" (too big), and 1080p (that's only 362ppi, or slightly above Apple levels).

They show the best they can do right now, but it cannot be perfect! This is a design-lead phone(total ceramics covered body!), there are still some features need to be improved in the next generation. You cannot get a phone designed like this with high durability(think of iPhone7 jet black...), but try to see what this phone contributes to this boring smartphone market!
BTW, Xiaomi Software support is amazing! Xiaomi 2S, which launched in 2013, is still in supporting!

All chinese hardware arrives in the UK to distribute over europe. Simply buy a chinese version at gearbest since you can change the language to english aswell. However, it usually comes with chinese bloatware which you can't remove so you have to flash the official global miui 8 rom. It's very simple but you have to unlock you have to register at xiaomi and unlock your device first (easy process). This takes a couple of days but after that the flashing only takes 10 minutes. Download the ROM, download the flashing tool, put your device into flashmode (hold on/off and volume down) and hit the flash button.

I know I'm definitely late to the party. But I ended up buying one of these. It's such a BEAUTIFUL phone. The camera isn't amazing, but it takes good photos in good lighting. This phone is innovation! The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is rumored to be dropping soon... And if that phone comes out with a snapdragon 835, 6gb ram, 2k display, updated camera and software.... It will be the best phone on the market.. Period. I'm using this phone over my Samsung Galaxy S8 right now. They are two different worlds of phones.. But having innovation over typical phones people have these days is better to me in my own opinion. I've already had comments on this phone and they are just blown away.. It kind of sucks the U. S only sees Apple and Samsung because that's all that's really hardcore promoted around here. Absolutely stunning phone, ceramic back and 6.4-inch bezel less display are just gorgeous. I would replace stock launcher with nova launcher or pixel launcher.
