I am a repair technician myself back in scotland. What i like about you is that you attempt to repair anything electronic. Thats how a true technician does his work.
I'm starting to really like this guy. Awesome stuff and helping me with my hobby. I'm an automotive technician and like to dabble in board repair for fun and your channel is awesome.
BRO, you are amazing, thanks to this video I could identify what was wrong with my iPad (I tried to change my battery and almost I brokes the pins for the battery connector, I just bended one of them ) THANKS A LOT!!!!!
Quality stuff, it was so satisfying to watch the precision of this man's hand, great stuff. Ipad was embarrassing this gentleman by taking toooooooo long to boot but he had happy ending, cheers 🍻
Even If I fix something In my shop like mobiles, tablets etc... I feel the same😊 it feels like we achieved something awesome... it also an evidence that we are smart ..
while watching this video I remembered a time where you used a tristar tester board to determine the voltages and I was wondering if you knew that the Tristar tester has a PRO mode where it tells you the voltage from the charge port and the voltage of every rail in the iPad. just hold the left and right button down BEFORE you turn on the tester. While turning the switch on continue to hold the left and right buttons down and keep holding until it turns on and starts the test. it will then do the same test but will show you voltages on all the rails.
I too LOVE low melt solder. I was introduced to it by ZEPHYRTRONICS many moons ago, and it truly improved my game. I've had peers debate me about it's usefulness, arguing that it's a beginner's tool, expensive, messy and time consuming... meanwhile they are ripping pads and pulling sleeves out of PTH's and i am not. If you've never tried it, don't let the naysayers stop you. NF is correct when he say, "It's magical."
Sir ,I love your reactions When solve the problem Very satisfying smile on your face.... That's way, I see all your video till end ........ Love from India Have a nice day......
I found its also harder to remove solder without at least some flux and enough heat and good iron tips. I'm definitely going to have to gets some of that wick. The stuff I use is horrible.
Thanks for video. I have question. my daughter has iPad 2nd gen 12.9 A1670 model and only specific cable could charge it but others - includes original charge cable - could not charge the pad not at all. How can it be? Some says by replacing the charging doc flex cable could resolve that problem. It this right? Please give me some hints!! Have a nice day.
Good Morning. You came across a glitch after replacing the battery for the iPad Pro 9.7 is a 100% permanent look. And no matter how long the iPad works it does not move. If the battery is genuine everything works fine
I bought a new iPad from micro center after 6 months I notice when the battery gets to like 80 percent it will stop charging I clean the port change charger and cables and still does the same thing.the only way I get it to charge 100 percent is I have to press the power button off and then turn the tablet back on and then it charges to 100 percent. But I have to do this almost all the time what you think is wrong? And is still under factory warranty.
Can someone tell me what it means to "rip a pad"? I don't know much other than basic repairs but want to learn more, can't really find anything on google explaining what it is or what causes it..
If you’ve got time to answer a question I would appreciate it. I’m trying to remove the solder from a PS4 HDMI port. I have no problem doing this repair on an Xbox, but always trouble with a PlayStation. I’m adding low melt solder to the holes and allowing it to mix, but it doesn’t help with the removal. Do you have problems with the PlayStation HDMI port? Thanks
You took the first step by applying low melt solder. Make sure you are using a big solder tip to achieve more heat transfer for solder to mix well. Than all you need is a good wick that absorbs and Flux to help with the solder flow when it liquefies. Removing solder from PS4 holes is tricky, but having the right tools for the job and a lot of practice will make perfect. In the future, all unrelated questions should be posted here northridgefix.com/askus/
I don’t use low-melt solder, I add plenty of flux to the pins and then heat the board from the bottom on the back side of the port until i can lift it out with tweezers. It might be up to 2 mins depending on your hot air station and selected temp+airflow. Can mix this method with low-melt for faster results.
@@Neodymium5312 no I agree I'm not mocking your response, it was a genuine question. I'm just saying the wick I use costs £3/$4 per reel (1.5m) and does the job perfectly without needing to add more flux, but I've seen in several NorthridgeFix videos where he adds fresh flux to wick pads and just wanted to know why, since I don't know of any time I've had to do that myself in the work I do
Flux helps with the flow of solder specially when dealing with solder inside holes. Wick by itself does not release flux and it's neither efficient nor practical to use it with out flux unless you are just wicking pads from the surface.
I slowly took apart my ipad Pro 4th generation and replaced the charging port and now it will not charge at all. I am so frustrated. I work on this daily because I am an illustrator and now I am left with a brick of an ipad pro. I will say that before I replaced the port the old port was all messed up but would charge if at an angle or jiggled around, now nothing charges it. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it and would appreciate any help! It's only 2 years old so this is extremely frustrating.
That's not a hole, it's just something stuck on the diode, otherwise we would have problems with the Backlight. Diodes usually crack and not have holes in them. I"ve done a alot of video where i show how diodes crack. Check this one th-cam.com/video/96M0OWuSz6g/w-d-xo.html
My iphone 7 plus always show accessories is not compatible and it cannot be charged but if I switch off the phone it will charge. Tried changing charging connector port but same problem. What seem to be a problem
NorthridgeFix yes i do have original cable bought along with the phone . Iphone do auto power on while charging . What i did, Plug the cable into phone , switch on the power ,incompatible warning, shutdown the phone. After 10-20mins when you switch on the phone the battery is getting some charge. Does tristar fault still can charge the phone????
I've a Samsung note 4 phone, bought in during launch used for few months, then something went wrong. I dunno software update or some else.... It's having the same problem, when I press power on, it shows Samsung logo & then restarts over & over showing only the logo. Took it to a shop, he said it's ok change the battery. He checked it on laptop what he called ' testing on machine', & ya I see it was working. Then went to buy the battery but it still won't turn on. The repair man has no clue,🤪🤪👻
Did you wearing a face mask when u using a flux or using a soldering lead? The smoke of flux and the soldering lead is bad for you health.....safety first man...

What tester do you use? And what hot tweezers do you use?
thanks for your videos. Everytime we learn more
Can you recommend a iPad Pro 9.7 battery 1st gen? There are so many mixed reviews on batteries it’s hard to know what is good.
14:01 Good tools do half of the job, and sometimes the whole job.
I love your work

Just curious, why do you have Big Boss take the boards out?
can you give us some names of your kit you use, like hot air soldering brand and endoscope brand ?
Hi #Boss happy Sunday n thanks for the video
Hi, what temperature are you using on the hot tweezers? thanks...
Do use indium solder wire?

Very handy tip!
The tristar meter still passed it with bad connectors?
Ismael is the new employee you've looking for microsoldering? If yes and if he's good we want a video with him! Hehehe
Ismail handles Phone, customer support and office work. I"m still interviewing people for the micro soldering positions.
Serious question. If the wick you use is so good why do you have to add flux to it? I use Gootwick and never need to add flux to be able to wick pads
@@Neodymium5312 lol I know what flux does, but any decent wick will already be coated in flux
@@Neodymium5312 no I agree I'm not mocking your response, it was a genuine question. Probably WELLER WXMT or WXMT-MS. Many tip options sold separately. Really nice. Could be WMRT, but i think NF is a WX man.
Thank you. Those are pricey
