@LTNY928 Awesome - glad you found this video! It seemed to have helped quite a bit of other people with similar issues. I would say any solder you can buy at your typical hardware store should work to be honest. Also, yes, a first timer could do this as well. If you search my videos, I have another video posted on how to solder wires... you can basically use the same technique as that, coupled with this one. IF you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
thank you thank you thank you!!!! i had the same problem with my 321 system and repaired it myself because of this video which saved me a ton of cash. thanks again!!
Thanks for the video. I have the same module but my problem is that I am hearing a loud hum and no bass coming out of the module. Any thoughts what could be wrong and a suggestion to fix it? Any response is appreciated.
@LTNY928 No problem, glad the videos/info is able to help someone else out. I asked my Dad for his advice regarding the solder question specifically: Rosin core would work fine. It's sort of against the law to use lead solder anymore (not big deal as long as it's not used on water systems). Also don't breathe in the fumes from the lead solder.
I have the same system and love it. Turns out the same fault happened to mine. Thanks for the instruction on the fix, saved me boucoup $$$. I owe you a beer.
I don't have the 321 Sub-woofer but the 2002 Bose sub-woofer Series III that recently broke down. It started to smoke and make a load humming noise. Is it the same problem that you went through, and can I fix it what it shown in the video?
Hi Chris,,,,recently purchased a working Bose PS-321 subwoofer only... identical to the one you're showing here. But, I purchased it in hopes that I might be able to use it in conjunction with my current laptop audio set-up. My question is >> which wires should I solder to a 1/4'' female plug-in to be useable with connecting it to my existing spkr set-up. too many to chose from on interior of spkr cabinet. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!!
I found one of those 123 into a garbabe ! it is complete, even the remote and wires ! . but it doesn't switch on... i will try this and keep you informed !
Nice video, I have one like this , my transformer went dead. I would like to know the voltage across the brown wires from the transformer so I could find a replacement. Please help me out cause I cant afford a new one.
My acoustimass 800 sounded good and trailed off ... check cables and radiocd player ..and everything is fine but no audio .. turns .... will have a relay or fuse in ..and appreciate your help ... cheers ..
Thanks for the video. I purchased a working Bose PS-321 sub-woofer and i try to couple my 5.1 Logitech sound system into it to get more bass sound. but sub-woofer don't make any sound. however when i touch the circuit board it makes hum sound. plz help me Chris...

Thank you for posting this video! I'm having the same problem with my sub( it sparks and smokes when plugged in) and I thought we might have to get rid of it. I'm going to try this and see if it works. Plus it was a good excuse to buy a new soldering iron. :)
Chris, I pulled out my old PS321 Bose system and plugged everything in and it powered up fine, but there is no sound coming from the speakers. I checked all of the wired connections and they seem tight. I did notice on the sub the serial connection had a little rust on it. Any suggestions to the problem? Thanks, Mike
@PCAddictsLive Funny you mentioned the wire soldering video, watched that one too haha. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated, definitely helpful! Last question, what type of solder should I use? i have some rosin core solder, and an alloy 40 tin 50 lead solder.
hey thanks for the video. i recently plugged mine into an outlet with too much power and it blew my fuse. i replaced it and there is power to the control unit but there is no sound until i unplug the system and it blurts out sound for a split second then powers off. any suggestions??
Just happened to my 321 subwoofer, only thing that needs to be soldered is where the power comes in (exactly the same location as in your video). What kind of solder should i use? and can this be accomplished by a first time solderer? lol
The soldering gun worked fine... the solder job is still good (use this Bose every day), and if it helps people get their system back up - then my job is done. Could it be better, of course... just about any online tutorial you come across could be better in some way or another.
hi .. i lost the db15 cable that came with the home theater.. is there a pinout so i can build the cable? is it straight thru? thanks in advance.. best regards from mexico
PCAddictsLive, Please, my Bose Acoustimass Powered Speaker System sounds great for about 2 minutes (subwoofer & 2 cube speakers), but gets distorted later on. Can you tell me what is supposed to be wrong with it? Thanks.
My Fricken Hero! :) Thanks buddy! -not to burden you with Quality control: but the receiver hub for the Freestyle unit ( same as cinemate. etc..: The Left Analog rcs input 'cold-soldered itself right off the wee circuit board. -!!- Tried to re-solder and still won't work. grrr... I'm guessing "Remove/clean/replace" ..rinse, repeat,,, -Hope for success. Otherwise, can you assist in creating a bose-flavored neutron bomb? I would appreciate. :) Thanks! lol

Thanks a million. Was able to revive my 321. However, my solder joints look like big blobs that are not well connected to the board.

Do you know how to hook that bose subwoofer up to a regular sub pre-out?
