Hi there, the decorative wood piece is indeed a butter mold. The other piece is actually a wooden potato masher from a time or area where metal was too precious to be used for such a mundane task.

Thank you! I came up with the idea to add shadows accidentally. I added too much aging and tried to wipe it away, but there was a black shadow under a cabinet. Then I realized everything needs shadows 😆

A suggestion for leafy/grassy areas instead of flocking is kitchen herbs--several shades of greens--and navy beans make authentic-looking eggs...
Navy beans as eggs is an adorable idea! I have used herbs as greenery but then I bought flocking at my local hobby store. I've seen people use sawdust as flocking too. You can water down some paint and mix it into the sawdust, then let it dry.
Pretty cool for sure. You asked about the purple color on those dried flowers, NO that is not natural they were dyed to hold the color. Real ones turn brownish. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and Merry Christmas

I keep my hair straightener at my desk for ironing fabric, so yeah. That's what it's for 😂 I'm really excited to see it finished. I still need to make food and accessorize the stove and fill a wall. I'm thinking of making a shelf with pegs and hanging clothing. It'll be great.

You’re very lucky to be near a dollhouse store because there aren’t that many of them. I’ve searched the internet for stores that sold dollhouse supplies, and/or miniatures. Unfortunately I found that there aren’t that many, and none near me.

You really did a great job of this! I love all the details but especially the hanging elements and the chair. The bowl of eggs on the chair is such a realistic detail, as though the lady of the house had to leave the kitchen in a hurry to chase after her kids and the dog getting inot some mischief. Always love to see how you modify things to make them suit your build!
Oh, and you NEED a dollhouse, even a small one. RGT has some cute roomboxes that you could make a whole house type of feel to it. Like they have a garage unit that I think would be a cute bedroom over living/work area.
@@queencityminis I think either RGT or some other brand of dollhouses used to sell a roombox kit, and you could make one room at a time, stack them side by side or on top of each other. Eventually you end up with a house but it's kind of modular. Build as you go. I seem to remember maybe they had options for how many windows on the back wall, and if there was a doorway on the side or not (for the outside, or room to room). I wish I saved old catalogs. I probably did but no idea where they are. I just have a little 4 room house, so of course the upstairs has sloped ceiling and tiny round windows in awkward places. YOu could keep your eye on regular shelving units, like those little 4 cube shelves with the open back. You could build a back with windows or door, a Roof, maybe half garden/bbq spot, and half attic. I mean, it's basically a bookshelf.
I have started to make room boxes in cardboard book-box boxes. This way I can make holiday themes without changing over my big dollhouse and still use fun accessories. At the end of each season I can close the cover of the book and put it on the shelf disguised as a thick novel.
I love how this has come together, I especially love the dried flowers and the chair, the gold flower detail on the back finished it off nicely. Can’t wait to see what you create next 😊
Just found your videos and have looked a few of them already. The wooden square thing is a butter mold. To make a block of butter looks more beautiful. The other thing what you don't know is a "stamper"(that is a Dutch word, don't know the English) They used it when they wash the clothes by hand. In a big bucket (teil in Dutch) or a very big pan, they cooked the clothes in soap-water. Because it was hot, they needed something to turn and push the clothed down. That was the wooden thing. Not for making butter, you have a buttermaker at the floor in your room.
Hello Shyra, the little wooden mold seems to be a mold for butter. You can still find old ones in Europe. I saw the butter made by hand when I was a child, more than 50 years ago (glups!) and they use molds like that. And sorry, I don't know if someone else has already told you, I don't have the patience to read all the comments ;) Bravo for your work, and a big thank you for your quite and very interesting videos :)

They also sold fruit pies, but it was very strange because it didn't look like a city store at all (and the butter didn't taste like city butter either). I also remember that their churn was a lying barrel, fixed on an axle, and that we kids could turn the crank :) Thanks to you too for the memories that come back :)
I'm rewatching this because I'm taking one of my diorama characters and putting her in a witchy little cottage....I actually started soon enough that even I have a chance to get it done for Halloween and actually put photos up, I know I always intend to but I think I might do it this time lol...when I was telling you about the butter mould thingie I forgot to say that polystyrene is what you call styrofoam, I think Chrysnbon just use a different form of polystyrene because I was looking at that last kit I had. I was having a nosey for the trap and stuff to put inside the little house, other than pumpkins lol! I loved this project so am off to shamelessly plagiarise your ideas😂

I was wondering when you'd get back to this one. Your painting and aging made such a difference. Did you see Little Gretchen's video where she mixed a bit of rubbing alcohol with her acrylic paint? I thought the effect was great for aging small things. I think Jennifer Adams is right about the one carved piece being a butter mold. I think the other looks like wooden pestle to be used with a bowl instead of a mortar. Hmm...
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Aging is definitely an essential stage in something like this. I plan to take it even further by adding dust to the mantle and some dust bunnies and dirt along the edges of the room!
I watch all of Little Gretchen's videos, so yes! I love her techniques. I also think it's a butter mold. That's a whole lot of butter. The other thing is probably a pestle. That makes sense.
Wow that's a lot of stuff in one video. I don't think I've ever seen a cast iron stove placed inside a fireplace hearth. A rifle over a hot stove, Just make sure that it's never loaded!! I would think maybe it'd be on the wall above the mantle. I think in my perfect imagination house in real life, I'd want both a cast iron stove, AND a fireplace with one of those swinging cast iron arms that holds a real Dutch Oven so you can cook over the fire. Real dutch ovens have recessed lids, to hold the hot coals on the top of the lid to create the "heat from above" that's needed for the oven baking effect. So you could make a soup or stew, and a loaf of bread. I forget what those things are called, that swing over. So you can tend to the pot, then swing it back over the fire. I've only seen those real Dutch ovens when camping with Boy Scouts, and they're sold at the Bos Scout stores where they have uniforms and stuff. I picked up a box of recipes for Dutch ovens there too. One time we were camping and supposed to be having Lasagna, but the man who did the shopping heard Ricotta cheese, and thought it was Cottage cheese. So it didn't turn out right. It was like lasagna flavored soup. The guys didn't know what to do, and looked at me just because I'm female they thought I could cook. I was able to season it so it tasted right, just needed a ladle to serve it. My state is trying to make gas heating outlawed. Trying to force everyone to use electric for everything, but then turning off the electricity because there isn't enough. It's just stupid upon stupid. If you have gas heating, hot water and stove, you won't freeze or starve when the power is cut. My only gas right now is the hot water heater, but even that, if it's too cold I could warm up in a hot shower. I didn't remember that the floor was sloped too. Those tiles on the back turned out really great. Good choice since they can withstand Kiln temperatures.
Lasagna flavored soup 😆 That actually sounds really good... When I went to the beach over the summer, I picked through dried seaweed on the beach and found a bunch of tiny mussel shells. I'll definitely be filling one of the pots with "water" and mussels. I should make some bread. That's a good idea. Thank you!
@@queencityminis uh oh, now you've got me thinking about the delicious clam chowder served in a big round bread bowl at the coast. My car isn't running though, so no danger of getting there. Something about fall always makes me want some clam chowder. I don't think I've ever eaten mussels. Mmmm, sitting outside in my fisherman's cable knit sweater with the sea air making my hair turn into a frizzball and having bread and soup till I pop is just a whole vibe. If I get there at the right time, I can walk out on the piers as the fishing boats are coming in and pick up live crabs. Or since I'm lazy I go to a nearby restarant and just order some cooked cleaned crab. It takes awhile, but it's a once in a while treat when it's in season.
@@queencityminis If you do make lasagna soup, break up the noodles into smaller pieces first. Those giant long noodles are a bit unwieldy and won't stay in the ladle
What is the tool called to cut the coffee stirrers please do you think amazon will sell them.a previous lady said she got hers in dollar store but I'm 🇬🇧 don't have dollar store hobby lobby etc
Miter shears. I got it on Amazon. I wish I had gotten a different tool though. Bentley House Minis miter shears have replaceable blades. The blades on mine aren't replaceable and they've become really dull.
@@queencityminis Thanks for letting me know. I don't know what your financial situation is, but if you don't have a wet stone to sharpen your blade and/or you don't want to use a wet stone, Amazon is currently selling one with 2 extra blades.

I'm rewatching this because I'm taking one of my diorama characters and putting her in a witchy little cottage....I actually started soon enough that even I have a chance to get it done for Halloween and actually put photos up, I know I always intend to but I think I might do it this time lol...when I was telling you about the butter mould thingie I forgot to say that polystyrene is what you call styrofoam, I think Chrysnbon just use a different form of polystyrene because I was looking at that last kit I had. I was having a nosey for the trap and stuff to put inside the little house, other than pumpkins lol! I loved this project so am off to shamelessly plagiarise your ideas😂

Go for it! I suggest you watch Little Gretchen's Workshop as well. Her videos have tons of information and how to get started making miniatures. She also shows her mistakes and you don't even see or notice them in the finished project.

The mold is actually meant to be a butter mold, but in the scale it's in, it would probably work better as a short bread mold.

I was wondering when you'd get back to this one. Your painting and aging made such a difference. Did you see Little Gretchen's video where she mixed a bit of rubbing alcohol with her acrylic paint? I thought the effect was great for aging small things. I think Jennifer Adams is right about the one carved piece being a butter mold. I think the other looks like wooden pestle to be used with a bowl instead of a mortar. Hmm...
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Aging is definitely an essential stage in something like this. I plan to take it even further by adding dust to the mantle and some dust bunnies and dirt along the edges of the room!

Wow that's a lot of stuff in one video. I don't think I've ever seen a cast iron stove placed inside a fireplace hearth. A rifle over a hot stove, Just make sure that it's never loaded!! I would think maybe it'd be on the wall above the mantle. I think in my perfect imagination house in real life, I'd want both a cast iron stove, AND a fireplace with one of those swinging cast iron arms that holds a real Dutch Oven so you can cook over the fire. Real dutch ovens have recessed lids, to hold the hot coals on the top of the lid to create the "heat from above" that's needed for the oven baking effect. So you could make a soup or stew, and a loaf of bread. I forget what those things are called, that swing over. So you can tend to the pot, then swing it back over the fire.
I've only seen those real Dutch ovens when camping with Boy Scouts, and they're sold at the Bos Scout stores where they have uniforms and stuff. I picked up a box of recipes for Dutch ovens there too. One time we were camping and supposed to be having Lasagna, but the man who did the shopping heard Ricotta cheese, and thought it was Cottage cheese. So it didn't turn out right. It was like lasagna flavored soup. The guys didn't know what to do, and looked at me just because I'm female they thought I could cook. I was able to season it so it tasted right, just needed a ladle to serve it.
My state is trying to make gas heating outlawed. Trying to force everyone to use electric for everything, but then turning off the electricity because there isn't enough. It's just stupid upon stupid. If you have gas heating, hot water and stove, you won't freeze or starve when the power is cut. My only gas right now is the hot water heater, but even that, if it's too cold I could warm up in a hot shower.
I didn't remember that the floor was sloped too. Those tiles on the back turned out really great. Good choice since they can withstand Kiln temperatures.

When I went to the beach over the summer, I picked through dried seaweed on the beach and found a bunch of tiny mussel shells. I'll definitely be filling one of the pots with "water" and mussels. I should make some bread. That's a good idea.

@@queencityminis uh oh, now you've got me thinking about the delicious clam chowder served in a big round bread bowl at the coast. My car isn't running though, so no danger of getting there. Something about fall always makes me want some clam chowder. I don't think I've ever eaten mussels. Mmmm, sitting outside in my fisherman's cable knit sweater with the sea air making my hair turn into a frizzball and having bread and soup till I pop is just a whole vibe. If I get there at the right time, I can walk out on the piers as the fishing boats are coming in and pick up live crabs. Or since I'm lazy I go to a nearby restarant and just order some cooked cleaned crab. It takes awhile, but it's a once in a while treat when it's in season.
@@queencityminis If you do make lasagna soup, break up the noodles into smaller pieces first. Those giant long noodles are a bit unwieldy and won't stay in the ladle

Hi! They're called miter shears. I got them on Amazon. Buy a set with replaceable blades. Mine can't be replaced and the blades are dull now.

What is the name of the metal tool you are using to cut the small pieces of wood with?
Miter shears. I got it on Amazon. I wish I had gotten a different tool though. Bentley House Minis miter shears have replaceable blades. The blades on mine aren't replaceable and they've become really dull.
@@queencityminis Thanks for letting me know. I don't know what your financial situation is, but if you don't have a wet stone to sharpen your blade and/or you don't want to use a wet stone, Amazon is currently selling one with 2 extra blades.
