  • well the moment of truth and honestly the moment of let down.. don't get me wrong it's an awesome reel but after hearing and seeing several thoughts and reviews about this reel i was expecting a reel that had a spool that would blow away the aldebaran bfs xg.. well that didn't happen.. yes maybe we gained a foot with this reel but we also gained an ounce of weight and no audible drag.. I'm also not sure if this reel would outcast the alc-bf7 i had and might have to borrow it back from my cousin just to see...
so as of now the 2016 Aldebaran bfs xg is still the out of the box bfs reel to beatbif you ask me..
stay tuned as i use and break in the new 2020 alphas air tw..

The reason why Daiwa's feel "smoother" and more free (and this doesn't apply to tightly fitted reels such as the Ryoga) is because there is more play between parts, such as the handle shaft. Remove the shims in the handle shaft of a shimano, replace the grease to something lighter, and they will feel very close if not the same.

There's probably something to that but even when they get worn in and loosen up they are lucky to get to daiwa new feel.. Out of all my shimanos that are older only one feels as free as the daiwas and that's my metanium with a ktf spool which i bought used and haven't checked but it's possible all bearings are installed where they can be and it's had a lot of use..
