Which Side Are You On

- One hundred years ago the corporations had joined with government to limit the pay and the rights of workers. Today rather than piece work we have gig workers. Rather than defined work hours we have "work as long as there is work to do." The result one hundred years ago was an uprising of working men and women. They created unions and demanded better pay, a reasonable work week, holidays, and much more. This year we are at the threshold of a change. Will we follow the path to fewer rights for individual citizens and more rights for corporations or will we, the people, take this election opportunity to say enough is enough.
Which side are you on?
Dm Am Dm
Come all of you good people, a story I will tell;
Dm A7 Dm
How bigotry and hatred now in our country dwell.
Dm Am Dm
Which side are you on? Which side are you on?
The haters shout their slogans, don't listen to their lies;
Decent folks don't have a chance, unless we organize.
They say in this election, our ballots will not count;
So stand up for morality, opposition we must mount.
Oh, people can you stand it? Come on and lend a hand!
Will you be a silent lamb, or join our vocal band?
Our fathers fought a war, and fascism they did beat,
Now we must fight once more, the evil that we meet;
Your children rely on you, their future is in hour hands,
Speak out, march and vote; do whatever you can
Very powerful
The workers have survived ten thousand years; we will survive ten thousand more, and every revolution and every strike brings us closer to our final freedom. Solidarity to you, brother.
Based greetings to the USA Comrades.
Esta es la mejor sin duda

Amazing song!
"It is not irrelevant who owns something" - Elke Kahr ☭ [the first female and communist mayor of Austria's second-largest city]
I’m not a socialist but that is really good singing
I love this so much. I need a tutorial!
Thanks! What would you like to know?
@@PaulBauck I’m a super duper new learner so which chords and strumming pattern you’re using?
@@NiceTryFBI_ If you navigate back to the post you will see that I have added the lyrics and chords in the description. I am using a pick-strum pattern where I pick the 4th or 3rd string with my thumb and then strum down for the second beat. Some folks call it a boom-chuck rhythm. I hope this helps. Have fun!
Love it😍😍❤❤❤
Very nice
very nice

Wonderful. If only we had more in power that cared, but maybe eventually, we’ll have the ability to change things ourselves. Let’s just hope we don’t need to do so many violent revolutions like France!
The ruling class never goes peaceful. They recruit the class traitors and people start dying. Besides, not like Capitalism isn't ever in a state of violence.
I love it
Ruined the song.
Be quiet bro nobody cares
@@IrishContra I mean, he basically took out all the talk of unions and proletarian rebellion and said "go vote" like a spineless coward. Direct action now!
@@thewideduck5708 To be fair, people who complain about voting and say "Direct action now!" usually don't even do any direct action, so in the end they tend to do nothing and just watch as the world burns, but at least they feel very radical about themselves. Just go vote, it doesn't take long. And then actually do direct action as well, coward.
@@thewideduck5708 to be fair the song is not socialist or even aligned to a ideogy, its simply against corruptiom and goverment sponsored ignorance.
Most of the rebels who were apart of the whole rail chaos werent socialists but individuallists who simply wanted a unmonopolized Market.
There were socialists yes, but there were people from every side of the political spectrum.
@@HOI4notsoproplayer In a sense sure, but it still feels like kind of a kick in the stomach to take a song associated with radical union action and turn into a milquetoast liberal thing about vague "bigotry" rather than a call to real, tangible action.
As for "most of the rebels were just individualists who wanted a TRUE free market" that's honestly just a lolbert meme. We're talking about a labor strike done by railway workers, *of course* most of them were socialists or some sort of associated movement (more likely than not primarily syndicalists, since that was the influential faction in American labor). Without a doubt they were *also* against the government response, but certainly NOT because it 'violated individualist principles', it was because you know, they were getting shot at.
This stuff about being "against government corruption" is at best wishful thinking, especially because "anti-monopolism" doesn't entail being some sort of warrior of laissez-faire capitalism. How do you think those monopolies formed to begin with. We could "no true scotsman" and say "well it wasn't REAL individualism", but again, it's pretty hard to say that the song, while not *strictly* ideological, certainly has a clear bent on the opinion of organized labor.
That's not to say the song is "strictly ideological and only people that believe this thing can like it!", but it has a legacy and a history and we can't just pretend it doesn't.
That's kind of the issue being brought up here. This version of the song seems to stand for nothing, being just vague platitudes.

Greetings from the USA comrades!
The song is not about socialism xd
The original revolt in which the song was written was just anti-corruption and anti-monopolies
America never had a serious socialist aligned revolt, at least one that was somewhat organized and planned by people who knew what they were doing.
@@HOI4notsoproplayer cope
@@DRcorban pretty sure using a individualist song for a collectvist ideology is worse but you do you chap.
@@HOI4notsoproplayer That's some potent copium you got there, brother.
@@DRcorban buddy you used e individualist song for a collectivist shout, and you wanna argue about copium 💀
