Good stuff, thanks. I love the bit about shooting from unstable surfaces

    Good tips!
In addition to using bennies for attack rather than defense, I’d suggest using bennies early. It is a lot more interesting if the Big Bad comes out hitting hard first thing. It wakes players up and gets them engaged.

Having villians using support and tests is a great way to add challenge. With support rolls you can get up to a +4 to a villians roll (no limit on support rolls for strength). On the other side is tests which can make a character vulnerable or distracted and shaken on a raise. It also brings in narrative elements that can make the battle field more exciting.
Here's an example: the heroes are fightng a villians in a manufacturing plant. One villian wants to test a player by shooting a biohazard barrel. The villian rolls shooting and is opposed by the heroe's agility. Even if the hero makes the roll the GM could say the shot releases a cloud of toxic gas and have it used in any number of ways to make the hero's life more difficult.
In general though tatics are your friend. Gang up bonus, stealth rolls to get the drop, using cover and many other examples can make a mediocre battle into a nail biter!

Some good ideas for GMs! I think tests and support are sometimes under utilized by GMs.

@@ASavageWorldsGM i agree. It wasnt till i got to be a player i used them to make a point. Then again it took forever just for my players to use cover or go prone. Im going to see if i can spend bennies to make slight changes to circumstances. Have yet to see that done.

Basically, run the bad guys like they want to win. A lot of players and GM's alike seem to forget that.

Equally important to remember that (generally, weird monsters aside) the bad guys want to live, too. Plan escapes routes. Withdraw and go get help and come back. If there's some kind of law and order in the setting rather than rampant murder hobo-ism, surrender and look for chances to escape, or get rescued by allies, or just be freed by the court system and a good lawyer.
It's nice to win, but sometimes it's safer to do it another time.

    Solid advice.
Maybe also use GM bennies to get better action cards for your villains?

Good ideia. I primarily use bennies to soak damage, but acting first can make everything differently

RPG with DBJ says "You can't run out of NPCs/Monsters". He's also big on using terrain and environment as well...
Part of why I like minis is because it is easier to see where cover, high ground, and lines of sights are. The party is still in the shadows because of the camp fire, everyone is in cover and it's time to toss a rock that way to distract the people on watch.
