It may be a hard case to say "need" with any control surface, but they DRASTICALLY speed up the mixing process if you can pull your hand off the mouse. I've had an Artist mix at my house for the past 4 months, and it's saved me countless hours of tedious mousing around in Pro Tools. "Need" may be strong, but it's incredibly useful.

Even though I'm a mere guitarist who never sat in front of a mixer, I fully understood what that does and how it works. That alone shows how good the Euphonix guy at his work is ;-)
I've been using an artist mix at home for the past 4 months, and we've got an artist control in one of our control rooms here at Sound Pure, and I haven't had issues with either unit. They've been rock solid in our experience.
@aninstrumentalvision Thanks for the comment. Our large console was covered so we had a place to put these! Our B-room, where we utilize these Euphonix controllers is just too small to configure the multiple cameras and lights necessary to do a video such as this.
Nice gear.... I just got myself a Euphonix MC mix..... for Propellerheads Reason, Davinci Resolve AND to use for Affinity Photo. I love that the guy Luke is fighting his burger.....
@airic554 Heheh, yeah, but these Euphonix Artists Controllers are no joke- we use them throughout the facility. Now with their functionality in the new ProTools 9, these things integrate as seamlessly as our D-Command. We are going to be releasing some more videos about this sometime early next year. thanks for the comment!
You can add almost as many banks of 8 channel fader control as you can think of!! - just add another HUI bank for each controller and you're good to go. As a system, it will function flawlessly no matter how many control fader banks you add.
I would just like everyone to know the MC Desk is a custom desk with 15 rack spaces and looks amazing with one mc control and 3 mc mixer's. Also i would like to add i just made the hard step to protools from cubase 5 yesterday.
@Plakosternas Support for this device and PT9 is finally here on the Windows platform. Be sure and call us or visit our site when you are ready to order yours!
@mauricesoul Hey Maurice, what is your question regarding the monitoring section? There is monitoring control available in the sense that you can set the unit to control your master section, and of course the entire devices are 100% customizable, but these are ethernet based controllers (that's the only connectivity that they have), as there is no analog ins and outs or analog direct volume control- there are some nice monitoring options out there that we also represent if that's what you need
@TheVanhuge Cost is the only reason you should consider a PC over a Mac. If they were the same price, generally speaking, Macs are better suited to audio (And video) production. But, while some say you get what you pay for, others don't like paying double for the same computer hardware guts... particularly those that are more comfortable working on a PC to begin with.
@JSprayaEntertainment I hear ya man. You can definitely get a lot of bang-for-your-buck with a PC. Bottom line is, ProTools runs better on a MAC (otherwise we'd be running PCs in our studios). Can beat the cost/firepower ratio of a PC. Sounds like yours is a beast. We've got Mac Pro after MacPro here, but also a bunch of PCs. We run Final Cut for video, but if we were on Premier, we'd be all over some less expensive smokin PCs
@soundpurestudios Well i just made the switch from pc to mac also . my university has 12 mac based protools hd setups with c24s and from what i have studied i know the artist series is very powerful in control much like the c 24. so they are my next big purchase
I guess I implied that "daisy chaining" was the way to go -- my bad. You need to use an internet hub / switch which will insure that all runs properly and totally on time. You can add as many units as you like [and have room for on the hub] - it eventually gets connected to one of the internet ports on your Mac - and you're cookin' with gas
How do you make the mix window, auto scroll from left to right, when used in conjuction with the mc mix, and mc control? When i click on a channel with Pro Tools 10, the control surface will move accordingly, but doesn't move the mix window view when i nudge, or bank across!!
@MattDeatherage Congrats on your move to PT9. Please let us know how we can help with the infastructure around it. We are an entirely Pro Tools based facility, and have setup a huge variety of systems around PT9 for our many clients. We were aware of that desk, which is nice, hoping that we can find a similar but much smaller version of it for some of our smaller editing suites. Thanks for posting, and please do give us the opportunity to help!
@fortgreene31 Thanks. If you check out our website at soundpure(dot)com, you will find a lot more videos and information about the Euphonix products as well as ProTools 9. There's even a video on how to get an extremely good deal on a ProTools 9 rig for a limited time. Be sure and check us out there. You can search for "ProTools 9" and "Euphonix" on our website and find what you are looking for!
Can I buy your Euphonix face plate? Haha. I would love to switch from the black artist mix plate. An all black console feels kind of depressing, and harder to see in a dark room.
Been hoping that it wouldn't happen. But the MC Mix we have finally cracked between Fader 5-6. It's a known problem. Sure hope the MC Control don't follow suit. Out of warranty. Out of luck?
@mauricesoul We will be back in the office in full force on Monday after the holiday weekend... feel free to give us a ring toll free 888.528.9703, or international +1 919-682-5552, there is a limited time "special" happening right now on Euphonix products, and the new functionality with ProTools 9 (if you are using that yet) is absolutely stellar- even better than what is demonstrated here. Hope to hear from you !
@JSprayaEntertainment And saying "Macs suck" is ignorant fanboyism. Macs may suck for YOUR needs, but they are more reliable than PC's, whereas PC's are better in terms of price, gaming and upgradability. Pluses and minuses to both platforms.
LOOKS TO DAMN FLIMSY. BEST THING AVID EVER MADE WAS THE MBOX PRO 3RD GENERATION. AND PRO TOOLS 11 (EVEN THOUGH YOU CANT UPGRADE WITHOUT LOOSING ALL OF YOUR RTAS PLUG INS)... SMH!!!
Finicky and issue-laden. Not a true felt mixer. Get a Mackie universal control & actually get studio work DONE! I reeeeallly wanted this piece of gear to work-consistently. Not so. Ditch it

Excellent information. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Nice presentation! Would sure love to have one of those...
I finally got me one of these bad boys! there freaking awesome! working on the mixer and transport next!

Nothing as of now Nexis... Euphonix is working on a PC platform for these controllers in the future. I am glad you enjoyed the video!

Great video ... Is it still only for Mac users'???

Yep... he's pretty good... and so is the mix platform he's showing in the video
@ubotstudios5 Sorry, didn't follow your comment/question? Please let us know if we can help in any way!
Yep... not a struggle. AVID [maker of Pro-Tools] owns Euphonix so the two systems will talk flawlessly!!
@kk6downing ... we'll get to it sooner or later... there are only so many hours in a day!!
@vaani2 not sure where that is going... anyhow, hope you actually liked the demonstration

Can you use any mixer with pro tools?? I just bought a mackie 802 mixer... but generally i use an m-audio interface with my pro tools..

do i have to have mac to use this controller or can i use it with windows too?
@SteveBrownOfficial We appreciate your supportive comments! We will keep the videos coming...
I know this is old but does it work with pro tools 2020 and win 10?
@soundpurestudios Well i just made the switch from pc to mac also . my university has 12 mac based protools hd setups with c24s and from what i have studied i know the artist series is very powerful in control much like the c 24. so they are my next big purchase

Jarrod Ferguson Did you enable the HUI in the Peripherals?
I'll check it out!! Thanks! Donald Waugh
Nice demo. Poor guy is having acid reflux. In the other video he was happy to have his antacids.
Are these control surfaces compatible whit logic x?.. looking to buy a nice desk to go whit it too..
SNOOP DA ONE I have been trying to find the answer to this question as well. Called apple and euphonix tech support and no one had the answer.
Yes they do

@MattDeatherage Very cool, then you definitely know what's possible with these things... let us know how we can help!
@TwinVulcan Welcome to the world of lavalier mics... if it's audio quality you are after, check out our other videos!
@JSprayaEntertainment Umm... MacPros use i7's and listing the amount of ram you have is redundant since you can have a ton in either PC, or Mac.
I want videos of the System 5-MC!!!
@MrManuelNoriega impressive eyes

lol! This is one of those comments I wish I could "Like" again and again:D

is there a better one then this???
I have an 2 Artist Mix surfaces. Like those better than the Control. I'll leave it at that. LOL
LOL. the sheet over the real beast of a "controller"
I've heard these things are buggy.
Nice hair...Beatles 1969
good demo. Why a sheet is covering the "real" console, I don't know. Also, have to agree about the f...ckin dinner comment.
Machintos
more things no Body Needs lol

The fact the you can't bring the mixer up with the controller is a deal breaker. nope
The compression is so heavy on his voice I can hear every globule of saliva pulling off the roof of the guy's mouth D:
MACS Suck . Battle my 12 gb ram intel i7 PC .
i Render 1920x1080p video almost at playback speed .
LOOKS TO DAMN FLIMSY. BEST THING AVID EVER MADE WAS THE MBOX PRO 3RD GENERATION. AND PRO TOOLS 11 (EVEN THOUGH YOU CANT UPGRADE WITHOUT LOOSING ALL OF YOUR RTAS PLUG INS)... SMH!!!
Why would you want a PC compatible surface. just buy a Mac
Finicky and issue-laden. Not a true felt mixer. Get a Mackie universal control & actually get studio work DONE! I reeeeallly wanted this piece of gear to work-consistently. Not so. Ditch it
Just wish Presonus Studio one had Eucon support
