The reason why the score stops at that value is because the 0 at the end does not actually exist. See, the value for score stored in memory is a 64-bit integer which stores the entire value for score you see on screen except for the ones digit, which if always 0 by the way. So what you see as 229275890 score on screen is stored as 22927589 in memory. And in case you are wondering, yes you can use 64-bit integers with 32-bit programs. Touhou is a 32-bit game which uses 64-bit integers

I actually have a name for the glitch at 1:26: the Sakuya Cannon, semi-named after the Malice Cannon glitch from IN, as they both involve alternating focus and unfocus to do crazy damage.
If you play on fullscreen, alt tab the game after seija flips the screen and the game will pause itself and flip itself back around when you tab back to it with normalized controls :x

I am the kind of person who would constantly abuse her shot type because it's something in the game by default, and therefore using it is not cheating.
@@user-tq1zv9hd1o Your comment made me laugh so much, as it does look like that. ZUN making a flipbook animation in one of his games with one character.
Okay no. You do not reverse someone's controls in a game ABOUT BRUSHING YOUR BUTT PAST A BILLION BULLETS! You can stop time, that is somehow balanced. You can create limited spaces, that is somehow balanced. But reversing controls in a game like this about PRECISION MOVEMENTS, IS NEVER GOING TO BE BALANCED!
Seija isn't even that hard though. Just diagonal only if you're that uncomfortable. She's pretty easy overall for a stage 5 boss. I personally really enjoyed her spellcards.
I don't know if you know, but Sakuya A has a small cheat against Raiko. If you tack some knives onto her before she starts her timeout Spell Card, Sakuya's knives will slow down the whole attack. It doesn't allow it to get to its final phase

The 9.999.999.990 score bug is in Ten Desires, too. In the Desire.EXE black label mod. In Yuyuko´s last spell on Arcade and Ultra, if you are in a precise position (very good strat) with Marisa or Reimu, the score will be in the negatives too. (Excuse me for my horrible English)
The replay systems in the Touhou games aren't video recordings, it just memorizes your player inputs and in the case of bullet patterns with random aspects, it memorizes those as well. Watching a replay is just having the game perfectly recreate your saved play session. So desynchronized replays happen when the player does something like fast-forwarding the replay, and through flawed coding, the game loses track of what movement happens where, or where the enemy bullets were supposed to shoot, resulting in stuff like game overs in NMNB runs when watching the replay.
LoudWaffle I know. But still, it's exactly the same game where exactly the same thing happens. So how can an attack have a different effect in the game than in the replays ? That makes no sense
It's not the attack, it's the player's positioning that gets out of whack. I'm not a programmer so I can't really dtail why exactly fast-forwarding desyncs it, but it definitely has to do with the fact that replays are really just recreating the gameplay bit-by-bit.
LoudWaffle You know, despite popular opinion, most replay systems work like that. It would be a pain in the ass if you had to use your PC's recording system every time you want to save a replay. Because bad quality + PCs don't always have a way to record. But i still don't get how it's supposed to desynchronize. If there's a bug with the player's location, it should logically appear both in the main game and in the records.
Great video Mino! Awaiting the next in the LP series! BTW, it'd be interesting to see you do a playthrough of Shining Shooting Star sometime, do you think you'd consider that?
Actually, I might do that. Shining Shooting Star is by far one of the best fangames I've played. It's extremely well balanced and you can just tell that a high level survival player playtested it (which is the case. Well the video isn't just meant to include bugs. Obviously Seija's flipping is intentional, but I felt it was worth a mention since it's a pretty bizarre (and frustrating) gimmick.
It's overflow, not underflow. Underflow is when you have a number that is too small, like 0.000000000001 and it gets rounded to 0. And no, -0.00000000001 rounding to 0 isn't overflow either.
As Wikipedia says, «The term underflow is most commonly used for floating-point math and not for integer math. But, many references can be found to integer underflow. When the term integer underflow is used, it means the ideal result was closer to minus infinity than the output type's representable value closest to minus infinity. When the term integer underflow is used, the definition of overflow may include all types of overflows or it may only include cases where the ideal result was closer to positive infinity than the output type's representable value closest to positive infinity.» Hence the term is applicable in a non-formal speech. Heck, in games with speedrun competitions like OOT people tend to come up with their own notions like SRM (stale reference manipulation) instead of well-known UAF (use after free).
