Hey everyone, we're the makers of Merv. Happy to answer any questions you have! Thanks for watching :)
Love the post apocalyptic theme. Inspiration for this genre comes from where?
This was great! Thank you for bringing me a sparkle of joy.
Yeah I have three actually, why did you make the plant be a flower and not a plant he can derive nutrition and how mature is the man, because we see him paste 30s but the way he treats possible hostility and the toys he has shows him to be more like a child. His maturity is a way of showing when the war happened?
👊👀👍
@@PersuasiveEuthanasia if you don’t see the premise of this , it explains why the world is in the state that is in right now.
This has it all. Post apocolyptic life. Botany. DIY. An arms race. And of course a love story. Thanks!
Ditto
I would thumb your comment up, but it's at 69 now, so...
I'm not sure if it's a fiction or more of an analogy of real life.
you covered it all. 😁
The Courtship of Tuskin raiders founder Merv and Mervalina.
.
I have a hard time picking up Jazz FM too 😐
The Merv scares easily but he will return. And with greater flowers.
I loved the ambiance that the sepia tones conveyed at the start and through most of the movie: a world devoid of life and colour.
When he presents the flower the colours change and the mood changes.
The acting was astonishing considering there is no dialogue. That is something that can fail and yet here it was pulled off masterfully.
The actors did an outstanding job.
Little Dragon Pictures really created a gem in this piece and for that I commend them.
There is just so much to read into this short movie and what the mind builds up just from the threads we are given is amazing.
True storytelling is when the reader/viewer has enough freedom to see more than what is read or seen.
Excellent work!
Gaymuch? LMAO
Beautiful! And not a single word uttered by any character.
I have found it to be generally true that the only time my intentions are misunderstood is when I am speaking.
That's what we need out of Washington DC-not a single word spoken by ANY "character"!
I like the part where he says aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrreeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@@Exxeron-ob3tv 😂
"So,... are you seeing anybody?"
Fun fact: Merv (or MERV) also stands for "Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle" and is how ICBMs deliver nuclear warheads once they're in space. There are eerie videos of them being tested back in the day.
This short film is a remarkably accurate depiction of my daily routine.
Seriously love this short! I show it to everyone I can, way too underrated! The scene when he runs away at first contact and trips stumbling over himself in a panic always got me
Producer/ Director: I want the best background score in the whole world!
Music guy: Yes!
Wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the end but I'm glad I did. Music really suits what's happening on the screen and it kept me interested. Kudos to G&JW.
What great acting, expressing so much without actually saying a word. A Mad Max romcom. Bravo!
Adam and Eve...that scene at the end is worth it all... One of the best short Dust films. Saved it. (Hardly ever bother to comment...)
The mid-century "cartoon" music is perfect.
Even in a post apocalyptic world Ladies like it when you give them flowers
The sad Charlie Brown walk at 9:44 put a smile on my face.
This was wonderful....a post apocalyptic love story showing that hope and love can survive amidst desolation....it takes a lot of skill to combine themes like sci fi, dystopia, comedy and poignancy but this short absolutely nails it
Agreed 👍👍
How wonderful is this. After all that, the way to a girl's heart is with a flower. Some things will never change. Thank God. Bravo.
Best thing about this film short???... No matter where it's seen, you will not need subtitles.
Actions ALWAYS speak louder than words. Well Done.
Worthy of it being a full feature film, I was hooked right from the start, amazing 😁
Certified Gold!!!!!😁
At last! One I understood!
This needs to be a full length movie
I've been watching a lot of DUST since I discovered this channel last week. and this is the first story that actually has a happy, hopeful conclusion!
A peace offering and a glimmer of hope, even at the end of the world. Brilliant film. Thank you.
I have always liked DUST ever since I watched the first video on the channel and films like "Merv" are the reason I keep coming back.
Without zombies it’s not a REAL apocalypse.
I DEMAND a refund!!!!!!!!!!
Good stuff
I always cry watching these damn things. Thanks, Little Dragon.
One of the better vids on TH-cam. Keeps your interest all the way through. A real Apocalyptic love story, flowers and all.
I enjoyed it even better the second time I believe . Thanks for showing it again.
I knew I have seen this before
The scream was fantastic 😂😂
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 68 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Brilliant. "I am MERV".
not a word is spoken and yet so much is communicated
Finally a happy DUST video.
This was the 2nd time I watched this short. It's quite an interesting story and It really pulls the viewer along. Even with out any dialog...well, except for the "Aaaaaghhh" part (Haha).
The music is playful which offsets the dismal environment & desolation we see all around. And somehow it all comes together & offers a glimmer of hope at the end. Well done 👏
Very moving. We always fear the unknown. It is only when we take a risk that we can begin to connect. Someone has to make the 1st move.
I don't know why, but the part that stuck with me the most was the child's lullaby toy.
..and undoubtedly a ROSE.
Poignant, and apt, given the situation we find ourselves in today.
Yes, to me it is a depiction of the end of Covid.
Is anyone else thinking about a more simple way of life? An existence that makes more sense than this one.
I am. Right now. And even years later when you finally read this comment.
Doing everything to find companionship to eliminate loneliness, seeing a potential companion and then chasing them away... out of fear of disappointment.... only to go back to looking for companionship to eliminate loneliness... story of my life without the nuclear apocalypse lol
That's real good entertainment, like the early "Twighlight Zone" series in the 60tiest .
60-iest?? Mmmmmkaaaayyyy.😳🤯🤔🤔🤔
@@nicolebogda1482 Good morning, sorry Madam, sometimes my fingers are desoriented on the phone.I know it has to said " 60ties".Have a nice weekend 🙂
@@UweJMeyer ….60’s. 60’s dear…have a lovely week! ☺️😉
Rod Serling approves this message.
This is us, in 30 years ' time
"This is us, in 30 years ' time" ... I think we have less than 3 years...
merv has got the neatest beard ive ever seen on a hermit.
this is absolutey STUNNING.
Merv grows plants and only occasionally chases people with a spear, be nice, be like Merv
Dust, you guys are always the best.
The Tusken Raider origin story nobody knew they needed 😂 There's even slight reminiscences of the force theme at 9:44
Nothing more I can say that has not already been said well done.
Even in the irradiated post apocalyptic wasteland, simps endure
Stunning little movie, cut to the bone, yet it has all what it needs, like a visual poem. Barren landscape. Two actors, whereof one only appears towards the end. Not a word spoken, as none are necessary. A small but crucial expression of hope in the aftermath of something terrible. Bravo! Wonder about the title though -- does it refer to Merv in Turkmenistan?
“Visual Poem” beautiful!
So simple... but yet speak so many words
I've seen this before. Maybe not on DUST, but I KNOW I've seen this before.
Still a very good story.
Oh! This piece is sublime. Thank you.
Best movie I've ever seen even better than Gone with the wind.
Words get in the way.
Oldie. But goodie. This video is what got me addicted to this genre, and DUST ultimately
i just love Dust.
The only way you could see him smile was through his eyes!
Good ideas makes wonderful things
I think I remember seeing this a few years ago, somewhere.
7 years ago it came out
Nice and sweet
Happy valentines day 🌹
a short end time lovestory . how cute ! :)
Okay, I've seen this one on the original channel it's from. Still was nice to see again tho
Roses are a girl’s best friend.
Clever man.
I love this - thank you! The deliberate lack of dialogue is an excellent way of storytelling.
Outstanding work by all. The actors were fantastic. I could have watched much more of their wordless interactions.
My all time favorite! So well done that verbal intercourse was not necessary.
11:43 She sure has some perfectly manicured nails, for someone surviving in a post-apocalyptic world.
I like happy ends! Thank you!!!
Remember the old times, when music was playing major part in the story?
Thanks! 🌞
Seen this a few times before on YT and it put a big, fat smile on my face then and continues to do so now. Lying in bed, with a mug of tea and being delighted, again, by this excellent wee bundle of joy. Frikkin' awesome work peeps.
This is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen in my life
"And that's how I met your mother."
Yes, trite but more applicable to this tale than anywhere else.
This Encore of Merv was just as wonderful as its Debut. Chur Little Dragon Pictures, and Dust.
I loved how the instrumental music worked in your film! Well done!
A beautifully made film. Nothing spoken makes it. I think it is the story of Adam and Eve of post apocalyptical era. Love never dies in human life no matter how bad things turn. Love someone and that will energize you to continue on.
Ahhhh, prepper love, if only all first dates were this easy!
"The First Fig":
"My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes and oh my friends-
It gives a lovely light!"
Edna St Venicent Millay
Life finds a way.
"Mummy!?"
"Are You My Mummy!?"
That was really nice. Made me feel good.
Sujet intéressant et à développer.
Wonderful !!! Love that style. It remember me Jean-Pierre Jeunet style. A french director (also know for Amelie Poulin and Delicatessen movies).
Excellent, one of the best I've seen. Seems to be saying never give up hope. Just when it seems there is none, we are presented with the reason we didn't give up. And the little things, like the little plant that grew to be a beautiful flower helps us keep hope. Noises on the radio, a chance encounter with another human. Hope is sometimes all that's left.
gooood one little dragon !
Best short film I've seen on the "Dust Channel". "Merv" was amazing. Please show more from "Little Dragon Pictures".
Excellent works dust team bravo
Why dislike? Because I don't want to see our planet and people on it at such conditions.
I just found this channel and I'm hooked!!
Love most Important, do not forget it, folks!!!!
Scruffy, scruffy, scruffy, scruffy........ and then her nails are PERFECT. Ah, ya gotta love women!
In a place where there was nothing, there is something.
The world has ended from the human madness and continues just by the same madness. Fear and untrust.
Simpin ain't easy. 🌺
What beautiful film. Little kindness change everything. For better.❤️
Looks like a big Tusken Raider!
