I always used to believe that "piano" meant "soft"! Beautiful singing, as always --- I wish I could hear more of it.

The instrument was originally known as the pianoforte. Unfortunately, the impromptu iPhone recording picks up more of the accompaniment than the superb vocalist.

@@nmccw3245 That is actually incorrect, The problem lies with Cai he is not projecting loud enough. This can happen through the teen voice transition, still good to see him back performing.

Funny that his old treble Suo Gan came up on my feed the other night. So good to hear him now as a fine baritone. Hope someday to see him at Opera Santa Fe where we go every year or somewhere else. I am sure he will have a fine career.

Very enjoyable Cai, you have a wonderful and smooth voice that has almost reached its maturity. I could listen to you sing all day and hope that maybe there will be a chance of another album in the near future with a couple of tracks singing a duet with your younger self, or with Freddie. 👏👏👏👍👍👍

With a bit of age and your great musicianship it will be a pleasure to watch your beautiful baritone develop but it would be even better to hear you a capella without any accompanist to overwhelm your voice.

Thats actually incorrect, as you can see the piano lid is closed and the pianist is playing at a normal volume. the problem is Cai, He is not projecting enough, which means you cannot hear him over the piano as you can see the recording is done closer to Cai then the piano so he should be louder as well. But it is still good to see him singing again and going through this teen transition.

@@theorangebanana11 Projection is such a silly term. You don't want to project sound, you want to fill the space all around. That comes from having resonance in the voice before it leaves you. Going from a young soprano to a still-young baritone he has not yet grown into his still-developing adult resonance. At least he is not pushing to make a sound that is past his current abilities. There are some techniques to achieve that resonance that would serve him well, but that's between him and his voice teacher. They're both doing a great job.

Even with a phone you can get better balance. Just need to place the piano off axis. Had you been on the left looking towards Cai, the piano would have been in a much leader part of the microphone, and thus balance would be better. Not sure it would resolve the issue, but worth a try.

All these wannabe young 'singers' on TH-cam and Tiktok should watch this for a change! Only with perfect technique can one sing a difficult peace like this. All these weird chord and mood changes in the song: such a perfect day, or was it? ...

@@theorangebanana11 : You are deluded. It is the sound engineer/editor' fault. If the point of the video is to hear the soloist, the video is improperly done if the accompanist is louder than the soloist. The pianist is quite professional and competent but his performance is not what we came to hear.
